Putin makes off with Super Bowl ring?

I found that to be an interesting article. Until Robert Kraft can be reached for comment, it will remain a mystery. But, I find it hard to believe that Putin just walked off with the ring without it being offered as a gift. .. guess we'll find out soon.

Patriots | Kraft Says Ring Was a Gift
Wed, 29 Jun 2005 16:58:58 -0700

Updating previous reports, the Associated Press reports New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he gave his Super Bowl ring to Russian president Vladimir Putin out of "respect and admiration." "I showed the president my most recent Super Bowl ring," Kraft said in a statement. The Russian president "was clearly taken with its uniqueness," Kraft said. "At that point, I decided to give him the ring as a symbol of the respect and admiration that I have for the Russian people and the leadership of President Putin," Kraft said.

At that point, I decided to give him the ring
Was it at that point, Bob? Or when you saw Putin pocket the ring & walk out the door? Maybe you recalled that Putin was a former KGB chief? Or maybe you just wanted to keep your mouth shut & get out of Russia alive?

First Class Ticket to St. Petersburg - $2500
Suite at the Bolshaya Morskaya - 15,000 Rubles
Russian Sable Fur for mistress - 50,000 Euros
Look on Bob Kraft's face as Putin walked out the door with his Super Bowl ring - Priceless!

That's probably the same look Kraft will have on his face when Bob McNair is holding the Super Bowl trophy in Detroit next February!

If Putin miskakenly thought it was a gift and put it in his pocket, there is a chance that the embarrassment of asking for it back was more than Kraft was willing to do. There shouldn't be a problem in Kraft getting another one. I heard that a large part of the team's organization received Superbowl rings as well, so it seems that getting a replacement would be rather easy.

Is it me, or does Putin look like a sleezeball.

You can see that Crafts eyes never leave that damn ring. And why the hell does a Russian President need a superbowl ring?

Just what we need. The Patriots with incentive to get a fourth ring. :brickwall

Nah, I know what you mean. The NFL will hook him up. But the fourth ring...well hopefully we might have something to say about that. :homer:

I had that thought also. If they don't get back there again this year, then Kraft can threaten Belichick with a trip to a display case at the Moscow Library.. :jk:

Kraft's like, a gazillionaire or something... I'm sure this is the financial equivalent of you or me buying some guy a cup of coffee...

Yeah, the fact he even let it out of his hands shows that he has the bucks to buy another and what the heck he has two more already.

Does anyone remember when New England was a check in the win column before you even played them? I hope our success comes soon.

I sure do remember that! The early 90s were really painful. We had two 2-14 seasons and one year they went 1-15. The Texans' time will definitely come. I'm looking for big thigns from your boys this year!
:highfive:
