Jags Deceptive about Injuries

Vinny

shiny happy fan
Admitting publicly for the first time what many had already assumed to be the case, Fred Taylor revealed on Thursday that the knee injury he suffered in the Green Bay game last December was more serious than what was stated and that the Jaguars kept it under wraps.

Speaking to co-host Pete Prisco on The Frank Frangie Show (WZNZ, 1460 AM), Taylor offered candid comments about that injury and a groin injury that caused him to miss the final 14 games the 2001 season.

"It was a lot worse than initially thought," Taylor said about last year's knee injury. "How that came about, I don't know. It definitely was. They kept that under wraps.

Oh well...
You got a:

QB coming to camp 20-25 over weight (he's already fat to begin with)
FO that lies about injuries - Boselli, Leftwich(we hurt 'em), now Taylor
A safety that gets fines as much as R. Harrison
Get swept by us
A coach that puts an axe in the locker room to have his punter chop his foot off
Probably gonna get a RB that's got that is a cancer to the team
Gonna burn a pick in the Supp. Draft (we did it twice, so far it has sucked)
Tix sales are down
Did I mention that you got swept by us last year....I did, my bad.

But hey,......Oh well right.

Taylor should be back by the start of the season.
If you want to take the Jags' word for it. Of course this is the same organization that lied about a Leftwich knee injury, then lied about Taylor's knee on a NFL injury report. Considering that it was a full blown reconstructive surgery (and that he hasn't even worked out yet), I'd be skeptical of Taylor being back anywhere near September 11th.

Actaully, I am taking Fred Taylors word for it. Not the Jags.

"I'm not the type of guy that's going to rebel, rebel against the organization or go express all of my feelings to the media and start something that maybe we can handle right here in house. But you know, it only can happen so many times until a person gets enough.

"This is actually the second time that it's happened in my career, where I'm getting called out for being a softy, this and that. 'It's an injury where he should return in this amount of time.' And then, here I am, not looking like I'm working hard."

Taylor said he was encouraged by his rehabilitation and that he expected to be ready to play in time for the season opener Sept. 11 against Seattle. He also said he didn't see the necessity to play in any of the Jaguars' four preseason games.

"Even from the first couple years, I felt we had too many preseason games to play in," he said. "I don't even think I really need to play in one, even though I wouldn't mind. My goal is to be ready for the Seahawks on the 11th."

Speaking of Hefty, did anyone see the basketball skills thing on espn yesterday? I don't know if it was new or just a recording of something earlier, but when I first saw Leftwich I was trying to figure out which lineman was taking part in the competition. He definitely seems to be getting even chunkier than he was. Maybe he's trying to 'shed'(oops) his image of Gary Coleman by looking more like Fat Albert?

I thought the NFL fined the broncos for lying on their injury reports (a few years back) :hmmm:

I think your animosity towards the Jags is a little scary...
and by the way Byron is already weighing less than he did at the start of training camp last year. That ESPN thing was taped MONTHS ago and has been airing for at least 2.

I'm not a :loser . I'm more of a :homer: .
Btw byron is fat, regardless of what you've read.
And my scary animosity is merely a bi-product of a rivalry.
Oh wait a minute....you can't have a rivalry if one team wins all the games. Sure sure, It's a new season but for now, we've got braggin' rights.
So quit yer :crying:

We'll see ya 11-06-05 @ "the litter box".

Actually, our record against you is 2-4, so there for, your team hasn't won all the games...just to be fair.
So, Byron is bigger than most QB's...
but let's compare him to 3 who went to the playoffs last season, and one who went to the SB

Byron 6'5 245
Daunte Culpepper 6'4 260
Brett Favre 6'2 225
Donovin Mcnabb 6'2 240

the fat thing just doesn't make sense but if you want to keep on with it that's fine. Just don't think it hits any nerves, other than the fact that we have to deal with :homer: 's like you.

And like Vinny expresses, get your facts straight. Our record against each other is 3-3. Maybe you don't want to remember but we beat your team the very 1st time we met, IN OUR EXPANSION SEASON (LOFL). Or did you erase that one from your memory bank.

Are you trying to help the Jags out? The Texans split with the Jags each of the first two seasons--that would be 1-1 and 1-1 or 2-2. Then they swept the Jags last year for 2-0 or 4-2 overall or better than 3-3. From a Jags fans' perspective that is 2-4.

My bad, I was actually @ the home game in season 2. Wow what a finish.
I can't believe I forgot that. Vinny, plz go easy on me. :)

Leftwich has never looked better according to everyone who's watched OTAs.
Bill Belichik and Mike Shanahan, for example, have fudged injury reports before.
Darius's fine was his first, genius.
Who cares, the punter is back and he's still 10x better than yours.
Supplemental draft? Huh?

note to all canadian jag fans: you must be good (ie: winning record) in your division to even sniff the playoffs...but good luck with the whole losing record in your division thing, especially getting owned by the only team in your division that hasn't had a winning record yet

Lol I love how you all cling to beating us twice last year. A lot of good it did you while you went 5-9 vs the rest of the league.

Yes you own us. But guess what? You don't play us 16 times a year. We didn't make the playoffs, you didn't make the playoffs. It was last year. Get over it.

Your 2-4 record against us doesn't mean anything for the upcoming year.

tell that to the teams.. we hate the jags..they hate us..we hate them for some illegal hits on our guys and well jags hate us ,well they should hate themselves for putting up a fat 0 on the scoreboard when they were in the playoff push.

If it weren't for clinging to the games there would be no rivalry.. I still wouldn't hate the steelers when they played the Oilers .. I wouldn't hate the Colts for beating the texans everytime and I wouldn't hate the jags for some boarderline hits

2003

2004

Think about it. If your punter is punting more is that good or bad? Notice the differences between 2003 and 2004. I think we can all see which TEAM is getting better.

Dont Hate?
We are up on you 4-2 (and no we are not hanging on the fact that we beat you 2 times last year, we're merely hanging on the fact that we have a good record against you now when we should've been light years away from you)

We blasted you at home last year. Why would we hate that!!!

You can bring up whatever stat you want but the one that counts is the W column.

LOL'er I love how your FAT QB clings to his stuffed Fat Albert dolly @ night before the game against us shivering in fear of yet another whooping.

Go back and play with your Mark Brunell bobblehead and think back to the good ol' days when a former Houston team eliminated all you kittens from the playoffs during your 14-2 season. Where did the 2 losses come from? Yea, that's what I thought. (Sorry fellow Texans fans, I was a titan fan back then)

Isn't jags-dumm-ville near Orlando. Didn't the Rockets swiggedy sweep the Magic for an NBA title? What is it with Houston teams or former Houston teams that strikes fear into the teams from that particular geographical location.

Maybe we should get Agent Mulder and Agent Scully on the case cuz it seems like an X-File to me. Or maybe you can coax Crockett & Tubbs out of retirement and get them to head north and do some investigating for ya. Heck, maybe Tubbs can take Taylors' place and Crockett can subplant Leftwich.

So yer darn right I'm gonna cling to last years sweep. We've earned the "braggin' rights" to brag about it on our MB's until the next season starts.

I won't dignify this with a long response. You obviously have taken my posting name the wrong way. When I say Don'tHate...I mean me, alright?
Got me? Good... :survivor:

If that is the only response you can think of then I guess we know who's point was proven.

I do however look forward to very good games next year.

There's no point to prove. You guys have the most wins over us. That's not a point, that's a fact. Up until last season we had split on wins, but you guys beat us two times in a row...I think the term "owned" is the popular word for it. How you "own" us because of two games is beyond me. But if that makes you guys feel better about once again not having a winning season that's fine.

Do you think the Raiders don't care if they get swept by the Broncos regardless of whose got a winning/losing record. Or vice versa.
What about the Vikes and the Pack, Fins and Bills, or even the Cowboys and Skins.

It's called a DIVISION RIVALRY. Regardless of record. I mean, what drew you over here? Just checking us out, comparing Cheerleaders  , or was one of our fans on yours mixing it up and you wanted to even it out? And your name, "Don'tHate", well....."Don'tWorry", we don't, remember were up on ya.

And anyone who calls out a team (us) that had a losing record that swept their own (yours) that had a winning record but missed out on the playoffs mainly due in large part to "The Sweep" is oblivious to your teams internal issues. As far as we go, it's our 3rd year for crying out loud :crying:!!!

So why don't you focus your time on swapping out your fat QB's chocolate bars with some Slim Fast ones without him catching you. He'll sit on you if he does.

1. Both years Hanson had a better average
2. What does punting average have to do with which team is getting better? 9-7 vs 7-9. And what exactly did you guys do to get better in the offseason? Bring in Morlon Greenwood and Phillip Buchanon? Meanwhile you lost Aaron Glenn and Jamie Sharper, who were getting old but were still 10x the players those chumps are. And let's not forget passing on DJ in the draft for Travis "Character Issues" Johnson.

And before you all start with the "you drafted Matt Jones", let me just say us adding Reggie Hayward made us better than all the offseason moves you made put together made you better.

And for the absolutely inane post about our "fat" QB, at least our QB isn't trying to be a male model between drives. Oh yeah, and our QB actually has a career TD-Int ratio better than 1:1, something girly man Carr certainly can't claim.

But he can claim a 3-zip record against Leftwich, head-head. Can't have everything.

Back to the topic, the Jags should definitely lose a 1st day pick for the Taylor injury report for week 16. What were they thinking? Didn't they realize that the MRI results would come out? They were still deceitful after the season, saying Taylor only had surgery on his MCL and nothing about the PCL. To me that's the coverup. Was JDL just trying to make the Texans game plan for Taylor? Or was the organization hoping that fans wouldn't bail at the box office if they believed Fred was playing? Whatever, the league needs to come down on the Jags. Hard.

Teams are not required to disclose injury reports after the season, only week to week during the season.

And of course JDR was trying to make the Texans gameplan for him. Coaches do it all the time. Get real, the Jags are not going to lose a 1st day pick. I'd be surprised if they even got fined.

probably not but being deceptive about injuries usually cost a team

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/1998/11/13/archive/main22583.shtml
Each week, the NFL asks teams to list their injured players in four categories: "out," meaning there is no chance of playing; "doubtful," if he has a 75 percent chance of playing; "questionable," if he has a 50 percent chance of playing; and "probable," meaning he is likely to play.

The injury report goes out Wednesday and Friday in an attempt to prevent inside information from being leaked to gamblers.

"Teams are ... obligated to update the report on Friday and Saturday as warranted," NFL executive vice president Jeffrey Pash said. "The policy notes with emphasis that clubs sould pay particular attention to key players such as quarterback."

Regardless, the jags are in trouble:
Taylor injury
Team for sale
Poor showing in the SB according to the media outside if j-ville
Matt Jones injured - Joppru Jr.
Tix sales waaay down. Had a promo for season tix holders to be on TV to help sell more tix, only 200 showed up

NFL looking into Jaguars' camp access policy

Jaguars are only team to announce closure of camp following first preseason game.

By VITO STELLINO, The Times-Union

The Jaguars' decision to close the third and final week of training camp to fans and the media has prompted the NFL to study whether it needs guidelines for media access to training camp practice sessions.

In an announcement made last month, the Jaguars said they were closing training camp to fans and media after the first preseason game.

The Jaguars are the only team in the league to announce that policy, although the Redskins want to limit media access to about five reporters after their first preseason game.

The Jaguars' first training-camp practice will be held Saturday, July 30. The final practice open to media and fans will be Friday, Aug.12, and the Jaguars will play their first preseason game against Miami the following night. The following week, which is the final week of training camp, would then be closed.

http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/070605/jag_19168773.shtml

Not very smart to close some practices when your team is struggling to get the "litter box" sold out. You need all the publicity you guys can get right now.
