“I was working out when Coach Fisher called me and told me the news this afternoon,” said Young, now 26-13 as a starter. “I was very excited to find out that I’m getting a chance to go play in the Pro Bowl. Thanks to all my teammates, coaches and fans that have supported me. I can’t wait to represent the Tennessee Titans and join C.J. in the game. Hopefully we’ll get a few more players in there, too. I’ve been working out the last two weeks, so I’ll be ready to go.”

Earlier Wednesday, the NFL announced that Texans QB Matt Schaub was replacing New England's Tom Brady, who played with rib and finger injuries this past season. Rivers' withdrawl cleared the way for Young, who directed the Titans to an 8-2 finish as Tennessee became the first team in NFL history to finish .500 after starting 0-6. During that stretch, Young completed 59.8 percent of his passes and improved his passer rating to 86.1, more than 15 points greater than any previous season career-high he had posted.

Vince gets in his first year with some pretty ugly numbers, followed up by Kerry Collins getting in last year after throwing a barn burning 12 tds and 7 ints, and now Vince gets back in after playing only half the season over the likes of a Joe Flacco.... I just don't see Tennessee as a place that is some Pro Bowl QB haven.
 
I was happy for Schaub making it in because he has the stats to back it up, VY getting in is beyond stupid. There must be more parasitic flaming meatball fans than I thought. Pro Bowl is a joke.
 
I figured this kind of thing would happen when the Pro Bowl changed dates. I guess it remains to be seen rather it's a good thing or not.

Kind of a reach for him to go this year. 9 games isn't much of a body of work.
 
Joe Flacco, Carson Palmer, Kyle Orton, even David Garrard. Why are these players so undeserving?
 
Is anyone who made it to the playoffs playing? I thought it was more a consolation prize for teams that didn't make it to the Super Bowl, but it seems to be scaled down from that. Did the Titans Kicker make it?

I wonder if this is what the powers that be envisioned when changing the date.
 
3 AFC South starters. Next thing you know, Rivers will go down and Garrard will be put in to complete the AFC South.

I hate the Pro Bowl.... just another damn preseason game.

He took the same team that went 0-6 and went 8-2 with them. Football is about more than stats. VY may not make as big of a difference on the stat sheet as some other guys in the league but he makes just as much an impact on the field, if not bigger. Just because he doesn't throw for 250 ypg doesn't mean he isn't worthy.

This is about as pathetic as Tmac being named an NBA allstar. VY had an average at best season. Why not give Jamarcus Russell honorable mention. I'm sure that regarless of his numbers or stats all he'll do is pull out a win. He elevates the level of play for everyone arou....... excuse me, I just puked in my mouth. What was I saying?

Pre-VY - CJ 15 attempts per game
Post-VY - CJ 26 attempts per game

Now first tell us if that was an expression of faith in VY by the coaches and then tell us whether handing the ball to the 2000 yd rusher 70% more was bigger or VY's magical presence was?

Those guys' names are not Peyton Manning, Phillip Rivers, Tom Brady, Matt Schaub, Joe Flacco, Carson Palmer, Ben Roethlisberger, or David Gerrard.

Hell, Alex Smith had a better season than Vince Young, and he didn't play the entire season either.


Vince Young should be in just over Jamarcus Russel, the Cleveland/Bills/Miami Duo, and perhaps Matt Hasselbeck.

I could see bumping VY up over his passing ratings based on his rushing but not all the way up to jump over someone like Flacco.

I couldn't disagree more with you on VY. But your avatar is so awesome I will forgive your ignorance. Just kidding man. The titans as a team played much better, I am sure he helped them, but he is not the reason or even the biggest reason they started playing better.

Two trips to the Pro Bowl for "Radio" and neither one of them was even remotely earned. To top it all off we've got Richard friggin Justice writing his yearly (more like monthly) "Texans should have taken Vince" column over this. It's like Vince Young brings out the worst Texas fans and Titans fans and forges them into an unholy retarded alliance that won't shut up and can't be reasoned with.

Really? Does Justice know that the Texans have a Pro Bowl QB of their own? One who actually deserves to be there? Matt was #1 in the NFL in yards thrown, Vince was 27th. Young only threw 10 TD's this year. How do you make the Pro Bowl being 27th in the league in passing yards & only throwing 10 TDs?

I will start to listen to people who are saying "The Texans should have taken Vince Young" when the Texans don't have a top 5 passing attack and VY proves he can pass the ball.
 
Isn't the Pro Bowl partly chosen by the players? Seems like Vince has some respect for his talents as a QB around the league. Just sayin. It's not like he was chosen before everyone started dropping out. I do think Flacco should have gone ahead of him though. Maybe even Palmer (even though he really stunk it up against the Jets...but our own Pro Bowl QB (and well deserved) really stunk it up against the Jets too.

Vince did a good job rejuvenating his career this year, and lets all hope that he screws the pooch next year. Our Texans are going to need all the help they can get to make the playoffs with next year's schedule. Brutal. Tied with the Titans for toughest 2010 schedule. Oh Gee, great. I would prefer Vince sucks and stops playing every TNT game like its his own personal Super Bowl....plus if they continue to find ways to have Vince compliment Johnson's incredible talent, they could become a force to be reckoned with.

Supposedly the Pro-Bowl is 1/3 fan voting, 1/3 player voting and 1/3 coaches voting. Be funny to see if the players voting for him were mainly LBs and DL respecting the containment issues he presents and not CBs and safeties.

Seriously, is he officially the worst 2x pro bowler in the history of the NFL? I'm really beginning to think he is.

well if its a 1/3 each way, then him being included over Palmer and Flacco has to be a good sign towards him being respected by the coaches and players around the league, be them secondary or LB/DL.

i seriously doubt he got that many fan votes, but who knows nowadays. our country's general population is so stupid and ignorant that most can't tie their own shoes much less make a smart decision on voting. just look at them voting Iverson and McGrady to the starting NBA All-Star team. Granted, McGrady looks to have lost out as a starter at the 11th hour, but still just sad.

I am sure people voted for Iverson because he keeps it so real and is so thuglifed out. It sure isn't his level of play because that guy sucks as a player now as much as he sucks as a role model and citizen. thug garbage.
