Texans Raise Ticket Prices

WWJD

Hall of Fame
I heard on the radio this am that the Texans have announced a raise in ticket prices for this upcoming season. I think it was in the neighborhood of a 6% increase.

Were you season ticket holders expecting that?

I was priced out the NFL a long time ago..just curious if this is a yearly thing with teams nowadays or if it is related to success?

I was expecting a bump, but I was expecting a bump close to 10 percent, so, I guess 6 percent isn't too bad. I haven't gotten my invoice yet.

What stings is that they raising prices last year, in the middle of a recession.

However, to give him credit, they didn't raise prices at all during the 2-14 year or the 6-10 year, or the year after that. I think last year was the first increase since the second or third year. I think.

Yes, I think a lot of it is tied to success. The team's play on the field is directly corrolated to the revenue coming in, which is why NFL head coaches tend to have short leashes of about three years.

I just caught the last part of the radio blurb..I am guessing parking and concessions would be affected as well with increases.

"The Houston Texans announced their ticket prices for the 2010 season today. The Texans' average ticket price in 2010 will be $71.86 per ticket, which is up 6.67 percent from $67.37 in 2009. In 2009, the Texans were in the lower half of the NFL in average ticket price. The Texans do not anticipate this ranking to change significantly in 2010.

Pricing for about 20 percent of the seats at Reliant Stadium did not change for 2010. These seats are among the lowest-priced in the stadium and remained unchanged in order to maintain an affordable season ticket entry point for thousands of families and younger fans. The Texans also lowered ticket prices in more than 550 seats in the Gridiron, TX sections to help accommodate family value entertainment.

Season ticket holders will have an exclusive opportunity to renew their seats for 2010 beginning the week of Jan. 25. The top three NFL teams in average ticket price came in at $105.16 per ticket in 2009. The Texans ranked 17th in overall average ticket price in 2009, and in 2010 the new average season ticket price of $71.86 is still significantly lower than the top three NFL teams and should be below the overall league average."

Wonder if even the small increase will price some out? Budgets are very tight these days...

Wish I could afford them this year, but with my wife still looking for a job in this very depressed market, season tickets are not prudent. *sigh*

The recession is over ;)

DB, I have season tickets in the bullpen (2). Since I'm in Austin, I usually only go to 5 games. So, if you're interested in bullpen seats (at cost). I'd sell you them. I like to make some profit on them but would love to help great fans like yourself make it to a few games!

Mediocrity

Just another example of a monopoly taking advantage of the sheeple. Of which I'm one.

I've got 4 season tickets and most times only 3 people go to the games. You're welcome to the other ticket when it's available. PM me when the season starts and I will give you more info.

That is an awesome thing to do. This is why I love my Bull Pen seatmates!!

I live in SA and have been splitting tickets with my family for about 5 years now, but with the wedding this summer, i looks like my family will have to carry the torch if they want to.

I figured they would be raising the prices this year, so its no shock. Either you can afford tickets or not. a 6% increase isnt going to break the bank IMO.

DB. I'll bring you to a game next season. My treat.

Thank y'all for your very kind offers. I'll contact you via PM as the season gets closer, and I really appreciate it. :)

I don't get it, if the league goes on strike next year I'm gonna be really upset. How can both the players and the owners not be making a ton of money here? I keep see'ing prices go up, billion dollar stadiums, and $10 beers. How can the owners not be making money at this?

I'm confused..

I expect that prices will increase over the years, but I guess I didn't figure that it would happen every year. I guess do I get a little ticked paying more and more for "meh".

That being said, we'll continue to pay for our tickets because we love 'em. I don't forsee us ever getting rid of our seats unless for some freak reason we have to permanently move -- which I doubt will ever happen. I hope.

i'll get in on that. i still haven't been in the bullpen. no problem over paying to get into the bull pen.

Just signed into my season ticket account...It looks like parking didn't change but the Bull Pen went up 80 dollars a seat for the season. Folks can pay now online for 2010.

My tickets increased from $62 to $70 (only $18 to go before doubling), and Blue Lot Parking $28, which I think was the same last year. I'm still thinking about moving to the Yellow Lot if possible to avoid the frustration meandering through the parking attendants directions to goodness knows where.

Mine too...so much for 6%!

They lowered the gridiron and passed it down two levels.

Invoices are up. Bob's trying to hit me up for $720 this year, up from $680 last year. I did the math, and that is 6%. What I'm worried about are the parking rates...
