Pro Bowl

There is a chance that missed a discussion on this year's pro bowl. I was really surprised as well as puzzled by not necessarily the move from Hawaii or rotation, but before the Super Bowl really caught my attention.

What is the rationale of playing before the Super Bowl when it's obvious that pro-bowlers from the two highest ranked teams will not be participating? Even though some of those selected had injuries or other reasons for not playing in the past, yet most of those selected seemed to play that final game as a fun closure to the season.

I don't see attendance being any greater than it was in Hawaii, and those geared up for the Super Bowl probably won't be arriving before that weekend. It just seems odd to have a pro-bowl game with only participants from teams that are finished for the season.

I don't get this new Pro Bowl stuff myself.

To me more people care about who gets selected than the actual game anyway.

I haven't watched in years.

I've wondered the same myself. If they insist on having it close to the Super Bowl to try and make a week long ordeal out of it why not the week after?

If they are going to move the Pro-bowl around, which I don't mind, rotate the stadiums and make it more fan oriented as WWJD pointed out most people care about who makes it in as opposed to the actual game.

I'd rather see stuff like a QB competition, timed drills, things that showcase the talent people have that gets taken for granted in games.

Good points...

I never thought about rotating the game. That would be a great idea.

Wonder how come the mucky mucks don't do that?

Would give NFL fans a great opportunity to see players they may never see.

I thought the Pro Bowl was played in a rotation that mirrored the Superbowl. IE, if you are hosting the SB, then you are also hosting the PB in your city.

I think it's going back to regular achedule and location next year if I recall correctly. I usually watch some of the game being that it the last football until August.

I think the whole point of moving it here was a trial basis and having it before the SB accomplishes two things. There are more fans into football before the SB than after it. Also, it allows more players to get some exposure... players from the top will not be going so more alternates can get a measure of stardom.

Realistically, the main purpose is money. Attendance in Hawaii, combined with increased expenses are the primary reasons for this change.

For years, the PB was always in Hawaii. Starting this year, I think the PB will be held the week before the SB in the same city as the SB.
