voted! question: is there anyway cush does'nt win droy?

Can he lose it? Yup. He sure can. I hope he doesn't but I can see a case for Jarius Byrd and Brian Orakpo. Problem is that Cush does not have a ton of "sexy" stats, ie sacks or ints. He has 5 sacks and 4 ints. These are GREAT stats for a LB but the problem is Orakpo is a 3-4 blitzer. So, some voters may get enamored by these numbers.

Byrd led the league in interceptions (9) and only played in 14 games. In 2004 Ed Reed was the defensive player of the year with 9 interceptions. As a rookie, Byrd tied that and had he played the whole season, he may have eclipsed it.

Orakpo had 11 sacks as a rookie. Those are Monster campaigns. When Merriman won DROY he had 10.0 sacks. Orakpo has eclipsed that.

While Cush has a ton of tackles, he does not lead the league in them the way that Meco or Willis did when they won roy.

I think Cush is the favorite and I would vote for him if I had a vote, but its FAR from the Slam Dunk some people are making it out to be.

Cushlash is in the probowl.. ROY would be nice added touch ..

(even if the probowl is basically overall a popularity contest)
