Will be starting in half an hour.

likely:

AJ
Mario (probably not that deserving though)

Possibles:

Schaub (deserves it but prob wont make it in the top 3. brady wont go though & the SB qb wont go so he should get there)
Cushing ( should go but you never know with rookies)
Demeco (his best yr imo despite no ints)

Outside shot:

Pollard
JJ

Isn't the pro bowl scheduled the week before the Super Bowl this year? If that's so, that has to be the most stupid thing I've ever heard of.

I hope I understood the scheduling wrong.

No, I think you're right. I think the Pro Bowl is scheduled for 1/31/10 and the Super Bowl is scheduled for 2/7/10.... Unfortunately.

They move the thing out of Hawaii and everything gets screwed up.

Holy cow, I just googled it and it's true. And you're right: it absolutely is the stupidest thing the NFL has ever done.

What team going to the Super bowl is going to allow their players to risk injury in a meaningless game?

My God, that is just stupid beyond belief.

Hummmm.....super bowl players not playing would give a few alternate folks a chance then to go to the pro bowl then.

I think its stupid too but the Pro Bowl was dying in Hawaii... ticket sales were so bad last year it was almost blacked out if I remember... the thinking here is to take all the celebrities and fan fare that'll already be there for the Super Bowl and have it rub off on their dying event the Pro Bowl.

This is a great idea having the Pro Bowl the week before the Super Bowl. As soon as the Super Bowl ends, everyone is done with football for the year. Even the players are inconvenienced by the old schedule. This new schedule will be a big hit, and it will allow the league to invite a few extra players to substitute for the Super Bowl players who will be held out. A Super Bowl appearance is enough of any of these players, for sure.

Smart move by the NFL.

No Bengals, this should piss them off and pound the Jets or something lol.

Also Mario going for his previous year, definitely not this one.

A different way to think of this. Not bad Mojo. :)

Texans quarterback Matt Schaub, fullback Vonta Leach, and kick returner Jacoby Jones were all named as alternates for the AFC squad.

Pollard got snubbed imo. He should've at least been an alternate, especially in a year where Polamalu and Sanders played so little.

Good, they will all very likely get to go then, given that the guys playing in the Super Bowl will be pulled from the Pro Bowl.

Out of AFC DEs, Mario is actually 4th in sacks. Schobel is the guy that is ahead of Mario in the sack department and didn't get a nod.

All of the major sack numbers are either OLBs or in the NFC. Judging from the list, Mario should be a pro bowler for a long time simply based on his lack of competition.

I do not think that Baltimore will be going so that leaves Leach out and
Cleveland is certainly not which leaves Jones out. But Schaub will be going for sure

what is kinda weird , I guess you can say is that with super bowl team players not going, they don't get that bargaining chip when contract comes around, meanwhile some players that get bumped up, will get that bargaining chip when contract time comes around ..

even thought we all know most of it is a popularity contest

I'm so proud of Cushing. I'm gonna go eat a couple servings of crow for saying I didn't like the pick.
Use some Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce with that crow, it helps. Believe me, because I'm still cooking crow for wanting **** Head (Vince Young) over Mario. LOL

they said on nfl network that if a player cant play because of the super bowl they will still get credit for being a pro-bowler
