Steven Jackson may not play Sunday

The Rams also might never score now. Not that they were scoring much anyway, but with the news Steven Jackson might have a herniated disc, I'm wondering if he plays again this season. Keith Null is the quarterback. Hmm, you might want to add the Houston Texans defense for Week 15.

Well yeah, but that's just because you are looking at wins and losses. There is supposed to be a bigger picture to consider.
 
If Jackson doesn't play we better blow the Rams out of the water. If we're gonna win against bad teams, I would like to see us win big. This season theme has been one of missed opportunities, I want to see the Texans take out their frustrations on an overmatched opponent.

We've evolved from the Carr era. Back then the 4th quarter of each game was garbage time to let DC pad his stats to give fans hope he'll improve. Nowadays the 4th quarter of the season is garbage time, so lets give our stars ample opportunities to pad their stats. We probably wont make the playoffs barring a miracle both on our part and the handful of teams ahead of us in the race, so lets give our best players the opportunity to make the pro bowl by padding those stats.

Schaub: Go take that passing yardage lead from Peyton.

AJ: Widen the gap between you and every other WR in the league.

Mario: You better match last year's sack total!!!

DeMeco: Time to catch up to Cushing!!!

Cushing: Make a statement to show you're an all pro LB, not just DROY.

Pollard: Show Rick Smith he needs to pay you because of your performance on the field, not by writing it on your cleats.

Yeah, but in that game, we started out fast, and took a 24-3 halftime lead, and then hibernated in the second half and....and...and...

Never mind.
 
Keith Null started ahead of Boller this past Sunday, due to what was said to have been a sore leg bruise for Boller. Null was told one hour before the game that he'd be starting.

Their offense is VERY dumbed-down, very non-Rams'ish. They are throwing lots of short slants, shallow crossing patterns, curls, etc. Not much going on in the area of deep passes.

Amendola is their main target--Think "Wes Welker" with Ryan Moats' burst. He was consistently burning the Titans' special teams on kickoffs and punts. I'm talking getting the ball near mid-field a lot. Marciano will have his hands full.

They're very banged up on defense. Lost both their starting outside LBs in the Titans game, but not sure if it was just for the game or is going to be more long-term than that.

Null was OK on timing routes to the sidelines, something he did very well when he was up here at WTAMU (Chaun Thompson's alma mater, and mine as well). 92 TDs in like 23 games at WTAMU. But he struggles with progressions when he throws to the middle of the field, with most of picks thrown to the Titans' LBs who drifted back and started feasting on the over-abundance of slants and crossing patterns that Spagnola (sp?) is trying ot build his offense upon.

If they went to a Martz-style of spread offense, which is what Null is accustomed to, they'd do a lot better than they have been doing with the short-and-sweet approach they've instituted. I don't understand why they wouldn't do it. Null is a master at it. He's got the size and arm of Philip Rivers inside the spread offense mind of any TTU QB out there.

With how VY has done with running more of his style of college offense, the Rams couldn't hurt themselves any more than what they are by trying to work to the strength of their QB.

This game should be an absolute duck-shooting-in-a-barrel contest for us.
 
Throw in the HUGE dust-up with Richie Incognito which resulted in his being benched by the head coach for the remainder of the game, and it's Bad News Bears for the Rams right now.

VERY bad. Like, worse than Dom Capers' 2-14 brand of bad.

...and the Texans play to the Rams' record and either win a squeaker,
or lose big. This coaching regime won't win my faith back until I see what
they look like on Week 14 of 2010. That's about a a year of watching
"coulda-shoulda-woulda-almost-mighta-maybe" football.

Is that what we aspire to here in Houston?
 
The Texans should destroy the Rams Sunday. I'm out of my ff playoffs because Aaron Rodgers decided to crap the bed at the worst possible time, but if I were still alive I'd be all over the Texans D this weekend. Crazy to think I'd ever want to start my Texans over the Steelers D.

Cushing is going to have a monster day Sunday.

If we're jumping for joy that the Ram's star player is out... we've got serious problems. I mean... we're talking about the Saint Louis Rams.
 
Steven Jackson has been listed as questionable for the last 5 weeks and hasn't practiced during those weeks due to back spams but he has played each week. He will play but the Texans run D is playing well.

I'm glad to hear that. It seems we have trouble playing teams when they're not at full strength. I can't understand why. The only thing that I can think of and it's PURE unfounded speculation...

I believe that Kubiak has an unrealistic stubborness to stick to the gameplan no matter what. He gameplans based on their play but appears not to gameplan for changes or backups. He's not open to audibles because it deters him from staying the course.

That's all I got.

I'm hopeful that Jackson plays. I want to play teams at full strength. Season's over yet it's not. I don't want to eck our way into anything. Let's earn it and see what we're made of. If the Rams can beat us then we absolutely must realize that there is a severe problem somewhere that needs fixing ASAP. I mean... a broken water main or a blown transformer kind of problem. They must be replaced. No more patches or bandaids.

I totally agree with your assessment. It seems that STUBBORNESS creeps into every aspect this team's "captain of the ship." There is no iceberg too large. Don't go around it..............."Damn the torpedoes! I'm not worried about this game, the Texans will be 7-7 after this coming Sunday. The only thing that worries me is the Texans offense going all conservative and actually keeping the Rams in the game when it should be a blow out.

That could still be Kubiak's misguided plan to "ensure" a win, and come out with at least an 8-8 season...........to save his job. You're right, nothing short of a blow out will be acceptable under the circumstances. Actually, the same for the remainder of the games..........including the Pats, if they are to make any "impressive statement" to the end of this pitiful season.............under the circumstances.
 
Stop Jackson and their running game = Win with ease

Unless we revert back to the bend and break defense and allow Null to throw all over the yard like a pro-bowler.
 
What Steven Jackson has done is remarkable. He has a ton of yards and his team is pretty much crap. To be able to pull of what he has done is admirable. Just imagine how good the texans would be if we had a RB remotely close to SJ abilities

yep, me too. If they actually lose this one, which I don't think they will, I'll officially be in the fire Kubiak camp with no reservations about it at all.

In fact, they had better just blow them out. If this is a tight game, I'm not going to be happy at all.

I don't know how you guys can judge the team against bad teams. My opinion of them is largely driven by how they play against the better teams in the league. It doesn't bother me at all when we don't 'blow out' bad teams...heck, we've been a bad team for several years but we've managed to compete vs elite teams at times, so I expect the same from the others in the league when we play them.

My issue with this team is the lack of ability to put together long stretches of wins. Instead, we have always been out of the playoffs by December.

Then we rack up the wins, and the fans say "We turned a corner. Just need to draft ____ and a ______ and we'll be good to go next season."

Bull-hockey!

At some point, a team has to take what it has and just GET there. And that's on the coaches. If this team had an effective gameday head coach, one who knows how to really out-work the opponent (no matter who it is) then we'd be good to go. THEN it would truly be on the players, and not on the coaches, if we lost games.

Every player, except for Dunta, deserves to have a competent head coach who doesn't get lost in his playcalling on gameday.
 
I do like their Coach, Spagnola??. Anytime i have seen them on TV, they play very hard, and it starts with the coach. They are just a couple years away right now.
 
We already know how this is going to go:

1. Get lead in first half

2. Do nothing in second half but try to run out the clock via Run/Run/Run/Punt 3-and-outs

Last week, this team was up 24-0 barely three minutes into the second quarter, and played Run The Clock for the remaining 42 minutes of the game.

The only reason it worked is because Seattle had no offensive game.

Yeah, I am sure that Kubes will find an appropriate game plan to keep the Rams in the game and give them a chance.

It wouldn't hurt, cant be worse than whats playing G on the Texans. The Rams running game is much better than the Texans.

It wont happen.

Although with Hill getting hurt there's a roster spot open.

Last spring, Devaney, who will be forever linked with Leaf, left the disastrously failed quarterback a voice message saying, "You did a great job with Keith Null.''

Null probably wishes he could void his first NFL start. Five interceptions, lots of 10-inch-gain dump-offs.

As far as Jackson goes, I want him to play, not much else to play for the rest of the season, so why not measure yourself against one of the best players in the NFL.
 
I want SJax to play. Should be another test for our Run D and at the very least should stop us from running our Prevent Offense halfway through the 2nd quarter again.

This is brewing up to be the perfect storm. RB possibly out, cut the better OL, additional players dropping.....


... better win (CONVINCINGLY) Texans.
