Romo, Austin take Vegas vacation

IRVING, Texas -- Quarterback Tony Romo took another trip on an off-weekend before his Dallas Cowboys faced the New York Giants.

Various gossip Web sites published photos of Romo and Miles Austin hanging out in Las Vegas over the weekend, which the Cowboys had off after their Thanksgiving victory over the Oakland Raiders.

Romo's last weekend getaway before a Cowboys-Giants game became a subject of much debate. He spent the bye weekend of the 2007 season's playoffs in Cabo San Lucas with then-girlfriend Jessica Simpson, her family and some friends, including Cowboys teammates Jason Witten and Bobby Carpenter.

After the top-seeded Cowboys lost to the Giants at Texas Stadium, Romo dismissed questions about whether his vacation was a sign that he didn't have the proper focus entering the playoffs.

"I thought I was making a good decision not going to Vegas and drinking for two or three days," Romo said at the time.

Romo, who spends as much free times at the team facility as any Cowboy, has said several times that he isn't concerned with public perception of him.

"I'm content in my own skin and who I am as a person -- and what I've tried to do to get to this point," Romo said when asked about the Cabo vacation before the playoff loss to the Giants. "I don't feel the need to live a life that's perceived. I don't want to be fake. You know, I don't want in any way to do those things. If I feel like something is going to help me or this team, I'm gonna do it."

Why am I not suprised. I'd be pissed if I was a Cowboys fan.

Why? He went for a charity event..wasn't even there overnight. He is entitled to a life and he had a few days off. If he missed a practice or something well yea. But they didn't. Sometimes this stuff gets silly.

Because this is exactly what the headlines are gonna read. "Romo parties in Vegas before loss." And you and me know that it isn't true. The trip probably didn't distract him from the todays game against the Giants. But now, he will have to answer all these questions about this trip intstead of talking about the game ahead. If Romo played the opposite of what he plays in December, then no big deal. The media doesn't even mention it. But his play in December and the trip to Cabo is gonna make him a target like it or not.

He's use to the media in Dallas and ignores them for the most part....he played fine today. Wasn't his fault they lost.

If I were him I'd lead my life..do what I want to do in my own off time just like everybody else does in the free world..and you know if the media makes a big deal out of it oh well!

He doesn't let it bother him..believe me. It's just a bunch of nothing. He is always at practice and he is a hard worker.

I get what you're saying though.

No offense Wolf, love ya, but this may be one of the worst threads on this subject. I just read a few weeks back about Choice going to Vegas on their bye because he had never been and wanted to get away. People are allowed to have a life. They got 10 days before the next game. Most coaches let people get away. What is the difference between this and if he went to see family and had some beer with friends?Especially considering that they both played well.

Big deal.... The only issue here is, why didn't Romo invite Roy Williams to come along with them. Now that's big news! :chickendance:
