Draft him. He's the big back we need. Plus he gets mad when he loses.
I would draft him.

Bob McNair wont.

I wouldn't draft him. He was a 4th/5th round prospect at the beginning of the season. He made an ass out of himself on a nationally televised game and has a good chance to be undrafted. Too many red flag issues.
If you really want him, just sign him as an UDFA. But I wouldn't touch him.

I'd draft him to and I think that he'll probably go in the 3rd-4th round. Teams will research him pretty hard and have extra interviews with him but he'll get drafted and make some team that takes a chance on him a good RB.

This is not a joke thread. I quoted the above because that was my thinking exactly. Dude not only served his punishment but his teammates looked like they were happy for him yesterday when he came into the game.

All I saw was a man running the ball and getting hit in the backfield only to knock those dudes on their butts and make something out of nothing. As the game goes on he starts busting out a 30 yard TD run after not playing football for almost a whole season.

He served his sentence and didn't do anything further to hurt the team when he was allowed to join them. He may have learned from his mistakes. He was going to be a high 3rd/low 2nd but his stock has fallen to about the 5th. The team that gets him for a 4th or lower is going to have a road grader. He could be that big back we are looking for and we wouldn't be forced to start him right away.

Someone is going to draft him. Especially if he has a good showing in The Rose Bowl.

No way in hell he goes in the top 4 rounds...

Rashad Jennings has just as much...if not more talent, had less red flags, and still went undrafted. Teams aren't going to spend a 3rd or 4th rounder on the guy...if he gets drafted at all, it'll probably be with a 6th or 7th round flyer.

Andre Smith-OT from Alabama completely flaked out last year in the post season and combine and pre-draft but he still got selected #6 overall. If an NFL team investigates a player fully and the player interviews well, they'll overlook previous problems. It just takes the right team in the right situation.

Andre Smith plays what many teams feel is the second most valuable position on the field and one of the toughest to fill. Blount plays a position that some teams don't start looking at until the middle of the draft.

Plus Blount wasn't percieved to be the #1 player at his position like some people had Smith being. The guy was already going to be about a 3rd-4th rounder to start with.

every team is different on draft day. some teams will definitely ignore these kinds of things if they think the player is talented enough.

i'm not sure Blount is even that talented, though.

Andre Smith also had more natural talent than any player in his draft class. I'd been hyping Smith up since his Freshman year. The kid was that good. There were not 5 guys more talented in the draft than him. He did plenty to drag himself down, and it remains to be seen if he can fully realize his talent, but there was no question about if he was worth a shot at #6.

Blount? He wasn't a first rounder to start with. He wasn't really even on my radar. He also got into a fight on national TV. He started the fight. He then proceeded by attempting to attack the fans. He issued an adhesion form that clearly was written by someone being paid well by Oregon. Aside from all of his "red flags" (which are MUCH different than Andre Smith's) he just isn't a top talent. Andre Smith was easily a top 6 talent overall. Blount isn't even a top 6 talent at RB.

He did not start the fight. Although it doesn't matter, go back and look at the footage again. Blount was walking back to his locker room mad but certainly not talking to anyone. The Boise State dude, who nobody puts blame on him comes and talks crap to his face and then bangs on his shoulder pads.

IMO, if we can get this guy in the 5th or 6th, go for it.

yes he did start the fight. Players jaw all the time but when you swing your fists....YOU are starting the fight. He also started to the crowd. No way McNair drafts this moron.

The kid is a thug. The Boise St thing wasn't even his first indescretion. He has been punished before by the program for bad behavior.

If you're good enough, the NFL will put up with your baggage. But Blount isn't that good.

Noone is saying he will be the best back in the draft. All I am saying is that if his stock fell, he is definetly worth it to try and pick up. Not too many bruising backs I can think of that we could get at a deal like that.

Now if Lendale White becomes available in FA we need to jump on that dude.

the combine will mean everything to him. I really hope he takes the assistance received to heart & makes life changes but the odds are really against that. We all know he has hands of stone, but I have not seen if that transfers to catching the ball in space. If I where Chip Kelly I would try & work a couple plays for him out of the slot or TE position to shake what will surely be a dominate defense presented by the Ohio State. If he shows he can catch the ball I might be tempted to work him out as a TE as late rd. flyer :worldpeace:

No. He started the fight. It does matter. He couldn't keep himself composed. He couldn't listen to a little smack. Sure, the other guy was an ass-hat and a half for mouthing off to him after the win, but that isn't starting a fight. The fight/incident was started when Blount swung his fists. That's why he won't play on Sunday's. Aside from all of that, he's not actually that talented. He would be a late round guy before any of this. I'd put him around the 5th round, talent wise. He plays a position with the shortest shelf-life in the NFL and that see success from numerous of "unknowns" every season. Finding a RB who can step in for a season and put up numbers isn't impossible. He plays a position that is "a dime a dozen" and he essentially just punched (pun intended) his ticket out of the league.

Since the combine goin on lets re-visit. There seems to be character issues with this guy but what about his football skills...anyone have any insight to his his pass catching and blocking abilities? Does he still fit the bill of a 4th to 6th rd pick?

He's Arien Foster squared. He can make the first guy miss. No problem. The problem is between the ears and anger management. Know one knows if he can catch a football either. Which in this offense, receiving the football by the running backs, is paramount. As far as rushing the ball, he's your guy. Have to get him on meds quick before he eats the baby though. I beileve in redeption and second chances. So....If he's there at five or one of the sixes, and they roll the dice on the guy I wouldn't have a problem with it. Especially if they pass up the o-line with the first three picks.

Blount was signed out of JC and has less than 200 carries at Oregon. So, he's not the finished product and would need a ton of coaching to become a complete back. Blount is someone to be considered during Day 3 (It takes 3 freakin' days?) as a "project". His tools as far a size, explosion, and instincts make him more of a 4th rounder than a 6th rounder.

I want no part of him. He will drive the coaches mad once he gets his first contract. Give me Toby Gerhart in the third rather than Blount in the 4th. It all comes down between the ears.

Did anyone see Gerharts official time ? I've seen a 4.53 , if that's the case , he'll be a 2nd IMO .

Maybe... RB's usually drop some in the draft due to fact that you can get good ones in any round. I think he goes early third, kinda like Shonne Greene did last year. So Texans will probably gonna have to move up some to get him in the third or late second.

Phil Kessel: Nice Guy. Tries Hard.
I think Gerhart could be there in the late second. It depends on how the backs rated above him fall though.

IMO Blount looked unnatural running the drills. I know he's big, but he just did not look like a RB when he ran.

And I had him on my maybe list after the Senior Bowl.

Blount's not going to look good in these practice drills. But in football games, where he has to be tackled, Blount looks pretty darn impressive.
