Chris Brown

Has one guy ever cost us more games in a season? The first JAX game the arizona stuff and his attempt to play QB today.

Worst signing ever.

In his defense I think it was a called play, he even had a reciever free in the endzone, unfortunately he got hit when he threw the ball.

I honestly don't even blame Brown besides that fumble in the first game against Jax. Kubiak keeps on going to the guy in crunch like he's a superstar or something. Why would he expect a running back to be able to think like a QB in the 4th quarter in the red zone?? Brown sucks, Kubes set him up to fail.

His pass attempt was almost as ill advised as the play call.

Who calls that when you're moving the ball fairly easily, and getting ready to punch it in.

Kubes is never cute with his play calling, and just randomly decides to out think himself in the most important moment of the game? Just a ridiculous call.

The call was terrible but the fact that he was about to get hit and still tried to throw it. Unbelievable.

He isn't a QB. He doesn't know what to do in that situation. He isn't likely to throw it away the only opportunity he gets to throw the ball.

The coaches' job is to put the players in the best position to win. Our coaches do not do that.

they say he is a downhill runner well what I want to know is this

What hill and where the hell is it?

I like how he can actually break a tackle every now and then but he's too slow to get started again and winds up getting gang tackled on the spot. Oh but his protection is top notch.

When has he ever broken a tackle?

He is very subtle about it. He will break a tackle and then about a second later get headed in the right direction again but its too late. He is also great at the delayed tackle, in which you think he breaks a tackle but then he just stops running and goes down for no reason.

Chris freakin' Brown. It's not his fault he made the team. After watching him play (in more than just this game) it just amazes me that Kubiak can't see how washed up he is and why we wasted another year with another flavor of Ahman "dinosaur bones" Green.

Which is exactly why I'll never trust this guy as our HC. The guy thought Green was the answer, he thought Dayne and every other Denver cast off was the answer, then Chris Brown was the answer. I swear he got so lucky that Slaton got hot for him last season when he was only expected to be a 3rd down change of pace back. Kubes has been one of the worst coaches I've ever seen in my life as far as constructing a running game. No matter how bad or poorly Brown shows himself to be, he still remains as the front man on this team. It's amazing actually.

Memo to all you so called texan fans, chris brown isn't the problem. The o-line is the problem. This is well documented here amongst us. Get to the root of the problem. Geez. Peterson or C. Johnson can't run behind our line.

so called fan? me? sheet, gimmie a break. I may not have a "mancave" but I've done more in support of the fans for this franchise than you ever have or will ever do I'd bet.

The problem lies in both the line and the backs...at least that's what this "so called" fan thinks.

Yes our O-line definitely needs work, but Chris Brown is done. I'd rather see the Dayne Train back at this point.

Do you really believe that Chris Brown will stick with another NFL team next season if we cut him? The dude is an absolute zero. Moats is running circles around him and he isn't anything special. Yeah the line needs work but seriously...

Lame excuse for a lame post.

Honestly, Chris Brown isn't any more of a back than Stacey Mack or James Allen was in their Texan glory years. It's our legacy.

I wonder who is actually faster in the 40 yard dash. Brown or Dayne? I say let's line it up, set the sun dial and who ever wins...... also gets to be cut.

You have done more than me? Prove it, or are you just gonna spit the same venom you have spit the last few weeks? Vinny I use to admire your posts, now you cry and have nothing constructive to say. The o-line is the problem. You can't win till you dominate the trenches. That is fact in football. We all want a dominate DT to fix the pass rush. What do you think a new coach will fix first? Our o line? And next our d line. Pieces are in place but the product isn't finished. If your offended by the so called texan post then you must be a so called texan. As for so called backs? A so called rb can run through a lane but a great back can't run through a hole through our half ass line can't produce. It's football bro.

This dog just doesn't hunt.

Nevermind he's been outgained by every other RB on the roster behind the same pathetic line.

The guy's a joke of an RB.

I've supported the fan base donating time for nearly a decade...I handle all the Texans official fan support over at the dot.com. I'm pretty sure most consider me a "fan"...and I've proved it over time....even if you haven't paid attention.

We can't run the ball. That's all there is too it. I'm all for scrapping the zone blocking and getting a bunch of big nasties up front. What we have been doing isn't working. Wasn't calling anyone out but the problem is well documented. Thought the true fans knew the problem is fundamental and not one person.

Steven Jackson seemed to do alright behind a not so good Rams line. Just sayin'.

Chris Brown? 3 rushes for 2 yards.

It may be the line but [the] Brown ["family"] is trash. As False Start stated "Samkon Gado thinks Chris Brown sucks".

Chris Brown isn't my choice of back by any means, but ATXtexanfan is correct about the true problem behind the running game. It's the interior line play. We miss Pitts greatly. Steve Slaton didn't go from emerging star to replacement player because he suddenly lost his talent and speed. His struggles running the football were a function of poor line play more than anything else.

We do not need a RB1. We have him in Slaton. We need a badass center.

I don't think anybody is saying that the O-line isn't a problem, I think everyone agrees that we need to get that fixed. But the fact of the matter is that Chris Brown is done. He should not be on this team next year, heck he shouldn't be on this team now! Hopefully we get the O-line fixed so we can have a stronger run game in the future, I just don't want Chris Brown to be the one running for us.

Where do you live? I live in the austin area. You know how hard it is to be a texan fan up here????? Not in the internet world but wearing gear out in public in this area. Not many texan fans up here you know.

You was the one calling me a "so called" fan so I just responded that it was a ridiculous assertion. I don't have to go to the stadium to help the fans on the net btw.

Just because you won't say anything negative doesn't make you a better fan.

As a matter of fact, there's no way possible that proves who's a better fan.

Give it up already.

Vinny doesn't need my help here, but the guy does more for this "Fan community" than just about anyone you can name. He puts his time and money to help YOU have a forum to come to and talk Texans stuff. Now living in Austin area is probably a challenge, but you might want to try running this forum and the dot com one and have to put up with all of the knucklheadness that goes on, a great deal of which you never see, because it is headed off at the pass by Vinny and the mods. (Mmmm, Vinny and the Mods, wasn't that a do-wop group in the 50s?)

So called texan fan wasn't directed to you. But I drive to the stadium every home game and wear my gear in hostile territory. Hell I was at a bar surrounded by titans fans giving me ****. Vinny I asked where you were at? You haven't said. I don't doubt anyone's loyalty here but I pimp in public not just here. Donating means nothing when all these austinites would have been instant texan fans. So do you ever get out of the basement? Being on this board all the time would have expected me to believe that you would have understood what I was saying.

& Steve had a great year in 2008.

I say the line has been playing been playing well since the Tennessee game, & our backs just aren't taking advantage of it. They aren't making gaping wholes & pushing people around like we would like to see. But they are getting great lateral movement, & the cutback lane has been there.

Our line isn't that good at run blocking and we have 2nd rate RBs. That's why we don't run the ball well. If we had better RBs, yeah, we'd get more yardage by running. If we had a better line, our 2nd rate RBs would get some more yardage. The problem is two fold, and trying to blame it on one or the other is a mistake.

I understand that. However, I was simply trying to point out to ATXtexan or whoever that said a RB cant run through our line who open half-ass holes - however, I'd tend to think St. Louis has a worst O-line than we do but Jackson was able to do a little bit today. Though, we dont have a back that is the quality of Jackson.

With that said, I agree with Thorn and what he said. It's both and is silly trying to blame one or the other for the problems. Both will need upgrades and/or permanent fixtures in the offseason.

(However, when they keep trotting Brown out there - it doesnt really help)

they don't have a basement down here at the library and no, I'm not a facepainter nor do I run around "wearing my gear in hostile territory", but I'm pretty sure my Dad can beat up your Dad. At least I have that going for me.
