Yahoo's Jason Cole reports that the Saints do not plan on bringing back Reggie Bush in 2010.

Bush's 2010 salary is $8 million -- an exorbitant amount for a change-of-pace back/special teamer. Citing a "Saints insider," Cole reports that GM Mickey Loomis doesn't want to pay Bush's salary even if 2010 is an uncapped season. A game in which Young went 12-22 for 116 yards thru the air and had 72 yards on the ground with a fumble. If anything it was the Texans mistakes (2 missed FG's) the Titan's defense and a couple crappy calls by the officials that cost the Texans that game ....:gun:

It was before. I also believe it was also before the fragile lil soul of VY was crushed after yet another s**tty perfomance and he got all emo and had to be talked out of whacking himself. VY is having a nice run, but I'd it won;'t be long before the mediocre player will be exposed again. Keep the therapists number handy and make sure the weaknut qb has blanks and not live rounds.
 
You know what's the worst? He finally had ONE reception where he got to do the flying squirrel move over the pylon to score and now EVERY SINGLE FREAKING TIME the Saints are up for discussion THAT'S the play they choose to show.

yeah that golden arm punked the Texans and totally owned the Cardinals...Matt couldn't own the Cardinals. I guess Matt sucks too. That golden arm has done enough to punk 5 teams in a row....nothing any of our 'golden arms' have ever done.

but whatever...make your played out and irrelevant sausage jokes and shirtless jokes. par for the course with the maturity and reality level around here. just pathetic. go be a Bears fan.

No. You see I am a real fan of my team. Not some player that is from my hometown and not an alum from my college. I am a fan of my pro team. I also am objective enough to recognize that VY is looking way better than he ever did. He may get his career on track - finally. He doesn't have 1,100 rushing yards. He doesn't create defensive turnovers. His TEAM and TEAM MATES do. But you and your ilk seem to think that he did it all by himself. The greatest player ever. I am not blinded by his "majesty" nor do I pine for him like a pathetic schoolgirl who wishes he had popped her cherry. He did not win all these games alone. Watch the games again and you'll see, but try not to focus so much on him. Does Second Honeymoon refer to your dreams of VY?

Guys I've always supported the Mario Williams pick, but I'd take Reggie Bush if the price was right.

I'm sure Kyle Shanahan could mix up some crazy packages and fit him into the game plan.

Also with his speed, he could probably be a pretty good ZBS running back if we fix our interior o-line.

Slaton/Bush, and then if we draft Toby Gerhart would be an awesome backfield IMO.

I don't know, Slaton/Bush to me is a little redundant for what you would be trying to accomplish.

It's an interesting situation that has several different aspects to it. For sure he's not as vital to our offense as he once was, although I still like the safety valve aspect he provides for Brees out of the backfield. You don't notice it in a game like Monday where we're getting the ball down the field so easily, but there's a lot of games where his role plays a big part. The question is if it's worth the price in the future. We'll see I guess.

The other thing that comes immediately to mind when I saw the article was that it was written by Jason Cole, who has been a big anti-Bush guy since he came out of college. I think it started when he was trying to be the guy that broke the idea that Bush would hold out the entire '06 season and re-enter the draft rather than go to N.O. When that blew up in his face immediately, he went hell-bent on trying to drag out the USC allegations for a solid two years (and I'm not denying that it happened). That all kind of just died on the vine in the national media's eyes as well so he's pretty well established his agenda with Reggie. It's all good, though. Luckily for us it's not a make or break thing.

I would sign Bush as a punt returner so JJ would be fresh for his WR snaps. :splits:
 
I would sign him if the money was right. Bush is a talented weapon. No doubt. I wonder if he thinks he is going to get top FA money if he isn't retained? He is going to get paid because he has the numbers and is a move that you could sell to your fans easily so its going to be interesting to see where he lands.

Eagles make sense now that Westbrook has been so beaten up and the nature of their passing attack. Who knows, maybe another currently contending team like New England, Indy, Green Bay, or even Denver. Bush would be pretty damn good weapon in a Peyton Manning led offense. Pretty Pretty Pretty Good (larry david).

Bush needs to be more physical but he isn't a traditional RB much in the way that Vince Young isn't a traditional QB. They both can be effective but mostly doing what they do best. There aren't rules that you have to run between the tackles or throw from the pocket to be considered an effective player. You may not be traditional but if you can impact the game with your play and make plays, who cares where you do it and how you do it. Just do it. And there is nothing wrong with having that special ability as long as you can still be effective when teams take that away like Arizona did.

Speaking of running backs, don’t expect New Orleans running back Reggie Bush(notes), who is due to count for approximately $8 million against the cap next season, to stay with the team. One Saints insider said general manager Mickey Loomis isn’t interested in carrying Bush’s salary, even if there is an uncapped season. Bush’s cap number and secondary importance to the team could create conflict in a locker room where several players, such as wide receiver Marques Colston(notes), are expected to cash in soon.
 
I don't think he'd mind getting cut. He may want to go back west and get another chance to revive his career.
 
I'd like to see the Texans try to get little Reggie if the price was right, but not for the kind of money he's making and I guess a trade is out because I think that means an assumption of his existing contract is required ?
But yea, he's a real SoCal guy and I don't mean just the school because he was born and raised out there.
So he's got what 4 teams on the West Coast including all the way up to Seattle where he could maybe work out some kind of deal and return to his native time zone. But it's now been established that he's not an every-down player and he has the extra liabilty of a bad knee(s), so he's gonna have to be reasonable in what kind of compensation he expects.
 
We already have Steve Slaton. He is a poor man's Reggie Bush. At least based on the propaganda of what Reggie Bush was supposed to have been.

We also have James Casey. Between Casey and Slaton, the Texans have all the capabilities of a tweener/flanker type back. Reggie Bush does not add any additional capabilities that are important to the mix. And the Texans do not have a need for a multi-million dollar "decoy" back, in my opinion.

Lots of jerseys would get sold, but we wouldn't see any results on the field.

He's not even Steve Slaton, who proved in his rookie year that he's capable of being the primary back in an NFL offense. What'd he get, like 1200 hundred rushing yards ? And Casey is a TE/H-back, not a slot back or a punt return guy or part-time running back.
The player we have who is most comparable to Bush is DA since he's primarily a slot back, but of course DA doesn't have Bushs speed or open field skills as a runner though he has better hands.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't pay that much for Bush but if the price was right, yea I think he could help us.
