Very easy stretch coming up

gtexan02

Working?
At Jacksonville,
Seattle
At StL
at Miami

Those are 4 very winnable games, which would put us at 9-6. Im not saying we've got any shot at the postseason, but don't be surprised if the Texans do just enough at the end of the sesaon with nothing on the line to save the coaching staff.

At 5-6, its easy to think we're about to see some changes during the offseason. But this team has a tendency to save coaches in the final weeks of the season, and I can easily see it happening again this year

I doubt we beat Jax next Sunday. Then, of course, we will win 4 in a row to finish the season, because we will already be out of the playoffs.

This is exactly what im afraid of. Im sick of winning meaningless games at the end of the season. If you want something to help you decide if you are ready for a coaching change, go back and look at our record up to the point each season where we are out of the playoff picture.

well once we are knocked out of the playoff picture, this team will make it's yearly run

Don't care at this point to tell you the truth, I'm still on the "should've drafted VY" saga..

the incredible Vince Young would never turnover the ball in crucial situations and would of course inspire the defense to stop sucking in crucial situations. because he's the greatest football player in the history of the National Football League

you all will probably beat Miami.

Math a mattically we are not out of the Playoffs yet

I think if we lose at JAx tho i think Math wise we are pretty much out since jags would win a tiebreaker

Are you be any chance from Austin? :pirate:

Which sets up pefectly for a Texans run to mediocrity and looking like a better 8-8 team than last year...:headhurts:

the smartest guy in the room is coaching the greatest .500 team in the history of the league. Time to turn it on now that nothing is on the line. Go Big Blew!

nothing is easy when it pertains to the Texans, esp when they can't play a full 4 quarters

Knowing the Texans, out of the last five games, we'll win four and our one loss will be to the Rams.

I expect a coaching change even if we reach either 8-8 or 9-7 records
I don't. Even with our eyeballs telling us Carr was a dog, we threw the most money we could with him (picked up his longest and most expensive option on his rookie contract). The smartest coach in the room will end up .500 again and the team will sell us a ton of hogwash about how injuries killed our season. The organization may be mediocre, but their marketing team has some toughness.

that is what is frustrating. I want to believe in the Texans but can't.

Colts had 2 rookie corners,no bob sanders, no freeney and basically shut us out in the 2nd half of the game .. granted matt ended 2 drives quickly with INT's didn't help but :thud:

meanwhile the Texans continue to build/build build like elves at santa's workshop

Realistically, we should beat the Jags, Seahawks and Rams. As for the Pats, I still think they beat us even if they rest their starters for a majority of the game...

Forgot the Fish, that will be a tough one.

I expect 1-3 over these four games. We'll lose to Jacksonville who are a great deal better than we are right now. That one will be on Gary. Then we'll take Seattle too lightly when they come here and lose that one too. Gary will say "That's on me. That's my job to have us ready". We'll go to St. Lois and beat them I guess and then come back home to keep battling and working hard before the Dolphins kick our butts finally. Gary will thump the podium extra hard that week.

New England comes to town to face the 6-9 Houston Texans! Can't you feel the excitement? I know I'm "Thunderstruck" just thinking about it.

IF the texans finish 10-6 will they still miss out on the playoffs? Answer the question please and dont say it wont happen i know it probably wont i just want to know if 10-6 is still enoug.

After todays game, I'm not expecting to kick anyones ass. This team looks lost, kind of like Scoobs and staff on the sidelines.

It would depend on how everyone else does, but because the losses are primarily in the division/conference, they won't win many (maybe not any) tie breakers. there is some fuzzy math for them to get in, but realistically today is the probably end of the season.

The end of one season is just the beginning of the "second season" to be a much improved 8-8.

One door closes, another opens.

Then I hope we lose every damn game. If Kubes is not fired after this season, I'm becoming a Saints fan.

That's pretty much how I feel at this point and did in the second half of today. Now I don't mean that I would jump ship and stop being a fan, but at this point I just want whatever needs to happen in order to make Mcnair wake up and fire Kubiak. If we have to lose the rest of the games of the season for that to happen, then fine. I'll take this minor setback for this season if it means that we can finally move on and start a new era with a HC. Kubiak isn't capable or taking this team anywhere and I've thought this for two years now. I wanted so badly to be wrong about that, but I never expected to be wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised though to see the Texans go on some run in these next few games. It would be such a typical Kubiak coached Texans run at the end of the season where people end up buying in again and saying "well maybe it is finally turned around, and it just happened at the end of the season." I could totally see that happening and Mcnair feeling like Gary deserves one more season because the team didn't give up or because they showed so much promise at the end of the season. Kubes is that guy that knows how to do just enough to provide "hope". I really hope a situation like that doesn't happen, but I think it certainly could and it would not surprise me at all.

Right now Mcnair needs to be focusing on how to lure Cowher or Holmgren over here before all of these other teams jump on those guys like the Cowboys, the Skins, and even possibly the Giants and a few other teams.

some of u guys that are saying i hope we lose games make me sick

Well then you simply don't understand the mind set of why people would want that. SOme fans would rather suffer in the short term in order to move on from what has failed for 4 seasons now so we can try something new with the team that might actually work and get us into the playoffs and to where we aren't the constant under achievers that we are. If we were to win the next few games to where Mcnair is fooled into thinking that Kubes just needs one more season, then we're most likely to suffer like this again for another whole season. I would rather not go that route and deal with this crap all over again. THe Texans are a very attractive team right now for HC's that want to coach again. We've got a lot of really nice pieces that should have coaches wanting to come here. I'd hate to waste an off season like this where we could potentially get a much better HC, and prolong Gary's firing because he put his lipstick on the pig again by finishing off the season with a few meaningless wins.

I don't think any fans actually want to lose any of the next few games. I think fans including myself want to win all of them. However, many of us feel that it would be potentially dangerous down the line if Kubes keeps his job, so if we have to lose a few in order for Mcnair to finally want to make that change, then I'm fine with it. We're not going anywhere this year regardless. Right now, we're pretty much back to thinking about the future because the present isn't a post season and is most likely an 8-8 record or 9-7 at best which isn't cutting it in year 4.

When the pressure is off that's when Kubiak's Texans turn it on!!!

It sucks that its such a true statement :(

Agree! This team does this crap every year with same result- broken promises the next season! I think they should hire another coach, cuz Kubiak can't seem to coach this team! We need a head coach with a no nonsense attitude, and a defense coordinator who's unpredictable in D schemes! I'm just tired of this team of being a laughing stock every year! It's bad enough that I live in Cowpoke country & having to hear about it- that the Texans are JUNK!:polevault:

or we go 10-6 and somehow make it into the PS then i can laugh in yo face

these games at meaning less un less math wise we are fo sure out of the race

Hopefully that is the case, but I doubt that I'll be hearing a snicker out of you at the end of the season as far as 10-6 goes at this point. That shouldn't be your intention in the first place.

there's no way in hell this team is going to finish 10-6 LOL. In order to win the last 5 games of the season Houston would have to play some extremely CONSISTENT football and during what stretch of this season so far would lead anybody to believe they would be capable of doing something like that? The only thing consistent about this football team is how they go out each week and play inconsistent football from half to half. The mascot of this team should be Dr. Jekyll and he won't stop handing out his elixir during halftime.

What good is it to win when the playoffs are a nearly infinite improbability at this point in the season? If/When we don't make the playoffs, having a worse record benefits us more for several reasons. Better draft selection, almost guaranteed new head coach, motivation for next year. That said, I would love nothing more than for us to run the table and take the wild card, and I will still cheer wholeheartedly for the team each and every Sunday for the rest of the season. I'm just saying that there are plenty of logical reasons why it would benefit us to lose.

Losing breeds losing. Losing games is never good for your franchise. Never.

Didn't we learn that after the 2-14 debacle?

What you need to be hoping for is a playoff caliber QB.
Schaub AIN'T IT.
He's Brad Johnson or Matt Hasselbeck without either of those stud defenses to keep the other guys off the scoreboard.
P. Manning or D. Brees he is not.

If Kubiak doesn't start looking to upgrade the QB position, then he does need to go down with the Schaub ship.

But I don't hate my team enough to want to see them lose every other damned game just to make sure a coaching change is made. That sounds like Rush Limbaugh saying he hopes Obama fails even if he takes the whole country with him. Pure insanity.

"Very easy stretch"? Not with the bunch of puh c's we have destroying the definition of the word "Texan".

Come on now, the Texans have lost 3 in a row.
2 to undefeated Indy who owns us
1 to the rejuvinated Titans and CJ

Its not like we're getting rolled by cellar dwelling teams.

The jags got stomped by the 9ers and the seahawks. The seahawks are a mess. The rams are even worse. Miami's best player is hurt and they no longer have the wildcat identity.

We could easily win all 4 games.

Hopefully it is easy enough for the Texans to go 3-2 so that at least a portion of the fan base will be satisfied with the result.

It would also give me another opportunity to learn why being 8-8 is better than making a flash-in-the-pan 11-5 jump. I failed that lesson during the last off-season; maybe I can do better this time around, although I doubt it.
