Eugene Wilson Done for the Year

Busing isn't exactly much more experienced. Ferguson is, want him back there?

Basically you have three bad answers back there

1) Talented rookie with no expericene
2) Lots of practice experience but blah physical/mental talent.
3) Mentally able to do the job, but with age/physical limitations

I don't want any of them, but at least two I know what I need to cover up/hide versus "just seeing what someone could do." Also I now weaken the 2nd/3rd corner position, to take that risk...so given the terrible choices, yes, either Busing or Ferguson, but not happily.

We could only be so lucky as to have this injury force us to play Quin at safety.

In what kind of world would we take a CB with excellent coverage instincts, good tackling, FS size, who can't quite burn with WR but makes plays anyway and insert him into the lineup when the opportunity arises?

That is an idea. But then we are pretty weak at corner. Reeves and (ugh) DRob start, with who being the nickel and the dime? McCain? Bennett?

McCain and if it ain't about time to see what Molden is made of then it never will be.

I don't ever want to see Barber on anything but special teams again. Busing wouldn't make me totally cry....but he's a special teamer.

Busing playing safety in a chess match vs. Manning on Sunday.

Awesome.

Just making sure everyone realized that I could not, in any way form or fashion, been more sarcastic when I typed that.

Busing will be burnt like... like.... like.... well, I don't know. But he'll be toast.

Brian Russell is another nice guy, er I mean slow guy, well he is a nice slow guy who is a cross between Matt Stevens and John Busing. Oh yay

He can't be as slow as Ferguson... I noticed Russell had 9 INT's in 2003 for the Vikings... so he's got better hands than any safety on the roster I suppose

lol 2003 was 6 seasons ago and the Vikings didn't want him shortly after that season due to his lack of speed. He didn't get faster, I can assure you.

I know you didn't just go Matt Stevens reference! :bat:

(BTW, I hope Matt Stevens is doing well and continues to work towards making a full recovery).

Thats why hes a free agent 11 weeks into the season I assume. You're not gonna find many free agent safeties with speed in week 11.

Now's the time to move Dunta to safety.

Might as well, he's been crispy fried at CB lately. Personally, I think we should draft a CB or grab a good one via FA and move Quinn to FS. Obviously we'll be Allowing Dunta to go his merry way.

I know it's still too early for draft talk, but the way things are rolling right now......why not?

How do you know? Maybe he went to some obscure clinic in a third world country and had extra speed surgically implanted in his legs?

No?

Oh ok, he's slow as Christmas. We're doomed.

I think Quinn is D-Rob's replacement next year. McCain/rookie to nickel duties.

Like P-Burnt ? (Phillip Buchanon) - D-Rob has looked an awful lot like P-Burnt recently

Now's the time to move Dunta to safety.

Dunta wouldn't do it even if they asked him to. That's what I think anyway. He's been cherry picking his "contact" all year long and making his 1-2 "highlight" hits per game but that's been about it. I don't think he's going to do anything that might risk his intended payday in free agency.

Strictly my opinion of course. I'm not CNN, I'm more like Fox News on this one.

I hate to be negative but I'm going to say this injury is likely the nail in the coffin of our playoff hopes.

The inability to beat teams in their own division is the nail in this team's coffin. Break it down all you want, they won't be a playoff team until they start beating division teams. Period. 7-15 in the Kubiak era, 13-33 overall.

Oh, and losing Eugene SUCKS!!!!!

Sucks to lose the closest thing we've got to a ballhawk in the secondary.

Pollard's instincts in coverage are much better than they were advertised to be coming from KC... but Busing and Barber are still Busing and Barber :(

He still has the skill to flap his gums.

He's an all-pro at this.

This has been a problem on the Texans defense, they talk smack and cant back it up.

Dunta and A.Smith in particular.

I personally dont want to hear any smack talk until they can split with their divisional foes.

Beat Indy and Jax and then you can talk a little. Make the playoffs and you can talk alot more smack. Until then fellow poster Golden Silence said it best.

McCain presents another interesting option at FS. I mean the tackling would probably suffer but with his speed....some ground could be covered in centerfield...

I didn't want to start another thread for this but according to the Battle Red Blog, the Texans have signed Brian Russell to replace him. Decent player who I think can contribute as a playmaker and not just as a replacement.

You are going to be sorely disappointed. Even with Pollard still playing I have zero confidence in the secondary now.

Much like Cushing benefits from playing next to Demeco, Duane Brown and
Chris Myers benefited from playing next to Chester Pitts, Bernard Pollard
benefited GREATLY from playing next to Eugene Wilson. Losing Wilson is
a HUGE blow to our secondary, much like the loss of Pitts is to our O-line.
Other areas of the defense will have to step their games up to beat Peyton
on Sunday, namely our pass rush.
