LOL at the Shaggybevo smack

What good will a win next Sunday do? We needed a win last night to keep our playoff hopes alive and FAILED.

10-6 will be good enough for the playoffs this year, I can almost count it.

There are no teams huntin for a wildcard spot that are good enough to go 12-4 or even 11-5 really.

Pitt lost to KC, and will be lucky to get 10-6
Ravens are 5-5 and will be lucky to get to 10-6 (these 2 teams play each other next week)
The Broncos are in a free fall and will be lucky to get to 10-6
The Jaguars are not nearly as good as their record indicates, and will be lucky to get to 10-6

If the Texans can somehow go 5-1 over the next 6 weeks, playoffs are still a possibility

You honestly think our Texans will go 5-1 the rest of the season?? Im not trying to be a douche but we can't even make field goals when the game is on the line.....

You do realize that 3 years ago?

And?????????????? Yes smart guy. I know when it was.

Point is, it shouldn't have come down to a kick. Kickers aren't football players. You want to win that game? How about the defense not give up 228 yards rushing. How about Dunta earn his money. How about the offense being able to put up more than 17 points???

Blame a kicker all you want, but it only serves to make you feel better and not address the bigger issues at hand.

Not disagreeing with you smart guy. Just it is pointless to bring up a made FG from 3 years ago in the context of last night. I'll go one further...

Not only did the defense fail. The offense failed to.

Bottom line is the Texans are mentally weak. I'm going to say it. They are soft.

Not only did the defense fail. The offense failed to. Yes and Yes.

We'll agree to agree on everything except blaming the kicker.

I don't really think our offense failed too much here. The Tennessee Titans have an outstanding defense. 17 points is a lot of points. Actually they could have scored as many as 23 points (if kicking FGs were "automatic" which they're absolutely not). The Titans controlled the time of possession and that falls on our defense's run stopping abilities. Our defense ultimately lost this game for us. Control the time of possession and teams will win.

I know a lot of Bullpen/Blue Crew folks are partial to Kris Brown for personal reasons (don't know for sure if you're one of them.)

But you gotta admit that the guy's gone cold. Happens to the best of 'em.

Are you refering to TB as such... WOW !! Smart guy?? Smart Ass is a better way to put it !

We are agreeing on that too. Never should have come down to a kick to send into overtime.

Matt Schaub drove the football downfield with 47 seconds left and a single timeout and put us in scoring position with 8 seconds. It's just not a quality that we're known for but we're doing it now.

It should have gone down to a kick. It was that good of a football game all the way across the board.

We kinda like Kris Brown. That's my boy he's holding. He also played with my older boy on the field two years ago after the Cowgirls game.

Disagree. Offensive game plan was horrid. 55 pass plays. 55!

Come on! Slaton gets less than a dozen touches. Moats doesn't even see the field. You're running game features Chris Brown? Come on man!

I won't say whether I'm one of those folks or not, but my point would be the same if it were Al Del Greco. A game like last night should've never been in question. If we want to be a playoff team, we have to have the Titans down early and often.

Did you not know that Hookem was bring facetious?? He is not a VY fan. He is not a fan of a player, he is a fan of a uniform.

Dude I can't even handle the sarcasm. It is just sickening. I'm going to take a break. My apologies. I guess a winning Houston franchise really is too much to ask.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic however until the guy starts losing what else can you say? The Texans surely didn't make a case against all those yahoos running around making that statement over and over again.

I have something to confess. At the beginning of the month I decided to stop eating breakfast tacos on Sundays before kickoff and am now exclusively eating fruit and nonfat yogurt with a smattering of granola for my gameday breakfast.

Call me crazy, but the Titans were 0-6 with breakfast tacos. Ever since I made the switch to yogurt and granola, they're 4-0. Yogurt just wins.

So? We just about matched them all the way up to our missed kicks. We're putting points on the board and we're moving the football downfield. I don't see why you don't think this was a good game all around? To be sure we're clear, I'm referring to both teams. Both teams played great football. I had loads of fun last night although it was a somber drive home.

Signed,

Other meaningless games.

I just think it's very misguided by fans to blame a kicker solely when:

A) You allow 225+ yards rushing
B) Your defense can't get off the field
C) Dunta's level of suckitude was at an all time high
D) You can't run the ball and,
E) Both kicks missed were 49 yards. Not a gimme.

That's his only job, TB. He knows it, his coaches know it, his teammates know it, the fans know it. I love the guy, but he's gotta be held accountable sooner rather than later.

I'm not saying he's is completely off the hook. I'm saying he's not soley responsible. How as a football team do you come out, at home, off a bye week and on MNF, uninspired??

Pollard didn't knock the piss out of anyone except 70,000 fans.

Quote of the week, except changed to the entire unit.

That's why I posted what I did when the talking was being done. STFU and show me on the field.

Not many, but by the same token these two misses weren't chip shots.

Even if it had been a 39-yd FG, I still think he would've choked. I am no kicking expert so what do I know, but I can't help but think he's lost his mojo and isn't kicking with any confidence. He's usually right down the middle on most kicks but lately he's been all over the place.

You may be right.

Actually this reminds me of a few seasons ago. KB went through a rough stretch and fans were all over his @ss. As it turned out he was injured and no one but the team knew. IIRC the same was true of Chad "Is A God" Stanley that same season. I'm not speculating, I'm just saying there is a lot of factors that may be unkown.

I will say this though, the Texans would be foolish not to bring in some competition next year.

I'm in agreement with you on this. I like Kris Brown. I think he's a great guy and he's been a very good kicker for the Texans for a number of years. He's been in the league for 11 years now though and for most of that time he hasn't had a lot of true "pressure" kicks. As the Texans find themselves in more of these close games with a chance to advance to the post season in the balance he's been very inconsistent. I'm really concerned that Brown might have gone "Brad Lidge" on us and won't come back.
