I still can't find it in me to completly blame Kris. Kubes does little things that show no faith/guts/balls and the players/fans know it, conciously or sub....

I've tried to stay away from the board tonight but there is just one thought that I feel that I need to express.

Great teams find ways to win. Even in the most dire circumstances they find a way to get it done.

Mediocre teams find ways to lose. Even when all they need is for just one guy to just make one play they somehow can't get it done.

Now, which category are we in?

This team is on the rise and we have a lot of potential, but I'm tired of talking about potential. I think I and plenty of others have waited long enough to see some results. I'm not going anywhere and I'm a die-hard Texans fan to the core but I feel like this season has been the most frustrating one yet. We were supposed to be over the hump, we were supposed to be past this crap, but we aren't. We are in the same place we have been for three years now and it's pretty damn aggravating.

I don't typically blame one person, but Kris Brown is really starting to get me there. He's throwing away our season.

Every single player with the last name Brown on the Texans has started sucking big time, one way or another. CC, Chris, and Kris. This is too weird.

this franchise is still searching for an identity and until we find one and play to it consistently we won't be better than medicore at best.

when they showed kb during the drive inside the last minute of the 4th, i thought he looked like a corpse. maybe he should get into zen meditation or something. ultimately, we should've put ourselves in a position where we didn't need to rely on kris brown.

True. We had plenty of chances to put this game away and blew all of them.

as much as i want to deflect, you're right - kris brown has arguably cost 2 consecutive games against division opponents. nobody's perfect but kickers need to be automatic from inside 40 and no worse than 9/10 from inside 50. kris is falling short of that standard. he knows that and i guarantee that he's working harder than any special teamer in the league, but that in no way excuses the result.

i cant however pin it all on brown. sure his flaws are the easiest to see, and i agree with his presser that he failed to do his job, but zero sacks and multiple converted long 3rd downs dont belong to special teams. dropped passes and poor throws and poor overall decisions on offense dont belong to the special teams. horrid penalties whether deserved (indy) or undeserved (tennessee) dont belong on the special teams. we either win as a team or we lose as one.

u win has a team u loss has a team i can go down the list on why we lost

-Chris Brown hes No slaton or moats

-Glenn Martinez hes no JJ and JJ got sick costed us

-James Casey why they didnt throw the ball to him who knows hes deff no OD but then again he has not gotten the chance for some reason i dont know

- Antoine Caldwell-Rookster
- Chris Myers
- Kasey Studdard
- Chris White
- There no all star lineup maybe thats why we lost

- Shaun Cody
- Amobi Okoye
- Antonio Smith

just like o line i still think we are soft in the middle of the D line

Linebackers god bless them

Secondary iam not even going to speak of them u know what it is.... i will speak on

- Dunta Robinson ... u said u wanted top 5 CB money 20 million well lets just say your not a top 5 CB infact u never were Infact u Kinda Suck maybe DR is why we lost tonights game

KB missed 2 FG yeah maybe thats why we lost

Tenn wa smart to Differ when they knew we start slow on O

maybe we lost becasue of a curse maybe because the astrodome is still standing next to the Stadinum maybe we are a finness team and got Buss in da mouf from a physical team with nothing to lose

or maybe VY is really a Super star QB

But i think its a mixture of all that why we lost a T E A M LOSS

THank u good night

The Texans being 5-5 is not any single players fault. If you insist on blaming just one person, it would have to be Kubiac, but even at that he isn't the one blowing coverages, dropping passes and missing FGs.

It's a team effort by the Texans to be 5-5 and embarrassed by Sausage Boy on national TV.

I hope Kris Brown resigns from the team. If I was him, I would never, ever, ever show my face at Reliant again. How he could ever look his teammates in the eyes is beyond me.

All you have to do is kick a ball straight ahead. Thats it. They even got it right in the middle of the damn field. And he ends up wide left by about 10 yards.

i'm sure the top two in points scored in nfl history agree. it's easy, you do it.

that's just plain ignorant. all tiger has to do is hit the ball straight 18 times ... how many fairways does he average? yao just has to shoot from a short distance without anyone guarding him ... what's his free throw percentage? a rotation of no less than 8 players have 50+ snaps to tackle a player 5 yards away ... how many sacks did we have? i'm not defending kris's performance, because those are kicks a professional needs to make, but i'm not for attacking the position.

Here is the problem with your argument...

It is one thing if you are asking a line backer for example to go make a filed goal.

The place kicker has 1 job on a football team. Kick the ball. That's it. Just kick a ball. If they can't do it, the only other job for them is water boy.

Kris Brown gets paid to kick a ball. This year he has been failing at it.

no, my arguement is it's not "all you have to do is kick the ball". the fat kid down the street can kick the ball. my arguement is that kicking an oblong ball 50 yards with exact steps from a hold within a fraction of a second as 11 players approach from each direction isnt "go kick the ball". it takes an extreme amount of talent to do so, and despite only having 32 kicking positions available in the league, there are several teams still searching for someone who can do it consistantly. how many defensive ends do we have with 1 job - to get to the quarterback? how often did they do it?

kickers, just like every position in every sport are going to miss. unlike any other sport though, they have the fortune (or misfortune) of having a singular moment ... 100 makes in a row means nothing if they miss 101 to lose a game.

Argument = Fail

Defensive ends do not just rush the QB, they play the run, and drop back into coverage at times.

Kickers kick the ball. That's all they do. Professional kickers have to be automatic. That's the job description like it or not.

As I stated in another thread. Brown deserves some of the blame, but Dunta deserves the bulk, IMO.

yes, we drafted mario to stop peyton manning's running abilities. conner barwin was brought in as a 3rd down run stuffer. no fewer than 4 defensive ends couldnt stop the quarterback when he pass OR ran. if you're going to grasp phrases, work harder.

"kicker's kick the ball"

kris brown kicked the ball - arguement win.

lol If you cannot see the fallacies in your own arguments, then oh well.

Place kickers get paid to kick off the ball and make field goals. No one said it was easy, just that is what they are paid to do. They are not paid to miss field goals.

Hell. My job is not easy, not everyone can do it. I get paid decently for doing it well. If I was to ever start failing at it, I would get fired.

my blame was placed in the first page, conveniently forgotten in an attempt to distort a seperate topic to the "so easy a caveman can do it" perception of the position.

kickers get paid to make field goals

rush ends get paid to pressure and sack the quarterback

linemen get paid to prevent pressure and create running lanes

running backs get paid to consistantly move the line of scrimmage and protect posession

receivers get paid to catch the football

which didnt happen against the titans? 17 points, 3.5ypc, several drops, schaub threw low all day, 4 sacks allowed, zero sacks against, no recognition on 3rd down, and 2 missed fieldgoals. kris brown failed his job, and me pointing out the other failed jobs doesnt make it any better. i will, as where this started however, defend the position as more than "it kicks da ball forward duh". as i said in my first post, we win as a team and lose as one - and we lost as one.

Antonio Smith was also terrible. He had maybe two positive plays last night against about seven negative plays.
Really? I haven't watched my DVR yet. My seats on the *ahem* club level weren't much to my liking. I'm used to being lower.

I'm not into blaming one dude in a team sport. But, kicks can win or lose Super Bowls and playoff games. Kickers are just as much a part of the team as any other position. Brown should definitely be considered part of the problem right now instead of part of the solution. Add his name to a growing list of players that simply failed.

I should really DVR these things and convert them for everyone to watch, it's really hard to catch all the issues, when you are watching the game I get too caught up.

I think it was on the 3rd option I saw A. Smith dive hard inside towards CJ and lost outside contain on VY, which let him run with the ball and forced the LB to pick his poison.

I'll be GIF'ing part of this game later in the week. I'll try to have GIFs to
illustrate my points. Sometimes people take me out of context. Cushing,
although a rookie, was impressive as hell yesterday. He sniffed out a couple
screens before the Titans' linemen could even get to their blocks!! To
tackle CJ for Loss on screens is a hell of a feat for ANY linebacker, let alone
a rookie. This team IS better than 5-5. They have six games to prove it.

Maybe something good will come out of the missed field goals after all?

Re-signing Kubiak to an extension is not what our team needs. He has done an OK job but we need a motivator and someone with more credibility and experience. The only thing Kubiak has experience at is losing...and finding new and exotic ways to lose.

Kris Brown didn't let VY run for 73 yards and multiple first downs on us last night.

Kris Brown didn't let CJ run all over us for 150 yards last night and miss a huge tackle that went for a huge gain at the end of the second quarter which ended up putting the Titans in scoring position.

Kris Brown wasn't the bonehead fool that decided that the other Chris Brown should be the starting RB when he's done nothing all season long.

Kris Brown didn't "make" Dunta Robinson play like Petey Faggins all night.

Kris Brown didn't force the O lineman to refuse to open up any holes for the running game all night.

Kris Brown screwed up two kicks that ended up costing us the game. That's what he did. However, this game shouldn't have come down to that in the first place and this loss isn't solely on Kris Brown. This loss is on the shoulders of a lot of people. It's just that Kris Brown's mistakes were highlighted more than others and came at the end of the game. Kris Brown needs to go though. That's two games now where he screwed up big time. He's no longer a clutch NFL kicker. It was a nice run with him for many years, but everything must come to an end at some point and Kris Brown is finished.

We got the ball back against the Titans with a tie game and 5:30 on the clock in the 4th. The offense should have put it away with a TD. I blame the coaches and the offense as a whole.

I posted this in the other KB thread, but I think it applies here too.......

And I'm getting tired of people saying, "It shouldn't have come down to that." Sure, in a perfect world your offense would always be on point, and you would roll everyone by 10+.

But this is the NFL. Games like this happen all the time. Sometimes you do have to put the game in your kicker's hands (foot?). How many playoff games and Super Bowls did the Pats win by trotting out Vinatierei at the end? You really don't want it to come to that, but when it does you need a guy you can count on.

Cushing is still impressing the hell out of me. He has some of the best instincts I've ever seen in a rookie LB. Always in the right place.

He is the best player on our defense this season. Better than DeMeco, better than Mario.
