Way to go Dunta!

You make national headlines for holding out and then for writing dumbass comments on your cleats. Then tonight you come out and play one of the most pathetic games of your career on Monday Night Football. The country now knows you are nothing but a joke.

You should be absolutely embarrassed. That was a disgusting display out there on the field tonight. Way to prove to everyone that Rick Smith was completely right in not giving you the fat contract you wanted. Maybe it's cause you knew something the rest of us didn't, you can't bloody cover anymore.

YES.

I would cut Dunta before Kris Brown. He was good for his one Pass Interference Call per game ass ussual. Missed a 10 million dollar Int. and wiffed at least once if memory serves.

Gave up tons of big plays.

VY threw him a pass, no catch.

Burned by Britt for a TD.

I know there was another huge mistake he made and can't remember.

That franchise tag is looking a great deal now.

Yeah, we're paying him 9 mil to get burnt now, but at least we're not paying him a gazillion to get burnt for the next 5-6 years.

My Thoughts Exactly!.

Seriously!

That dropped pick...C'Mon Man.

Anyone who doesn't live in Austin, you can at least listen to sports radio tomorrow without more VY jock licking. Here, it will be Jon Gruden BJ's for vince part Duex by all the local radio hosts and most likely no more Texans on TV.

Be thankful you do not live in this place.

like i posted in another thread:

anyone going to miss dunta next year? i know i sure as hell wont. covering like petey, (non)tackling like bennett and catching like troy williamson

we need to bench his scrub ass like we did bennett and let quin and reeves start

Dunta is the weakest link in the DB. Quin didn't get thrown at anymore that entire game whereas Dunta was constantly picked on.

Ya Dunta is done. We now know for sure that CB is one of our top priorities of the offseason. He looked terrible out there tonight.

It's going to be a long week for us fans

The other one you are thinking about was a Vince Young run for like 15 yards on 3rd where he took a horrible angle inside and let him make him look like a fool

I only saw him give up 3 receptions, and 2 defensive holding calls. 1 hold they didn't show (phantom call), and the other the receiver ran straight into him; AKA horse ****.

The INT would have been a tough catch for a WR, and there's a reason the guy is playing defense.

The TD pass was on a route that is very difficult to cover man to man without help. It's a drag route clear across the field, in a situation where you have to defend everything short, and the corner fade. That's why I like zone defense inside the 10.

He has clearly lost his edge in run support. I can't defend the BS tackle attempts he's had this season. They've just been ugly.

Dunta and Kris Brown screwed all the people on this team that were playing their asses off tonight. They owe a big apology to a Mr. Brian Cushing and a Mr. Andre Johnson, and nearly every other player on the roster.

Send Antonio Smith packing with Dunta. Elbowing Mawae in the side was very embarrassing for this team on national tv. He made the Texans look really bad along with their piss poor overall play.

the INT hit him dead on, a safety wearing a cast should've caught that.

the TD route showed me that dunta has lost what made him truely special and that is (what used to be) his insane closing speed. dunta was 2 steps behind when the receiver broke into his route and was 3 steps behind at the catch. dunta's market was his willingness to hit, and before injury dunta had arguably the best closing (5-10yd) burst of any DB in football.

despite praise, dunta's never been a good tackler. he's been a great hitter, but the two are far from exclusive.

finally, has dunta had a game he HASNT been penalized this season? cut bait texans, there's equivelant or better on the market next season for a fraction of the cost.

I agree that Dunta needs to go. I think he has become a liability on the run defense. There were several Chris Johnson plays that went for several more yards because Dunta picked bad angles. I think CB should be one of our top priorities in the offseason.

When did a sideways flying INT become so easy even a safety with a cast on his hand could make it?

This has been DR's best season as a cover man. He's giving up far fewer receptions, yards and TDs than he ever did before the injury. 2007 he was average or worse.

He wasn't a good wrap up tackler, but when he hit people it was usually the end of the play. Now he is just a poor tackler.

There is most definitely not better out there for less. You either have to spend a first rounder and develope the player over years, make a trade, or spend crazy jack in Free Agency.

I don't agree. The Titans are a dirty team and I can't blame a guy for retaliating, especially since the refs weren't going to penalize the Titans for their typical crap. My only regrets were that he didn't end Mawae's career.

sideways flying INT? c'mon now, he was vertical with half-stretched arms - praise the great read, because it was one and a great job causing an incompletion. dont throw extra out there just to defend what should've been an easy interception.

i'm knee deep in some wild turkey so i'm not going to argue fellow disgruntled fans, but keep it honest.

for all mawae gets away with, smith should get a medal for his restraint.

Colts sure don't think so.

Their CBs are always small name guys you learn about when the game starts.

His greatest trademark was that he was feared as a hard hitter. He's not even a tackler, much less a hitter, anymore. He's Philip Buchanon with more hair and less care.

Make a statement to the team. Cut him tomorrow.

I smell a new signature.

Colts play Tampa 2. It's a lot easier to find a guy who can cover a 10 x 10 yard zone, than a man to man/ cover 3 corner like the Texans need.

is it the injury? while never a shut down corner he used to cover better than this.

No he didn't.

He's giving up 30% fewer yards, and receptions in 2009 than he did in 2007 when people were raving about his pro bowl season.

It's a pick that any NFL DB should and has to make. It's definitely a play Pro-Bowler will make.

I probably misspoke when saying that Dunta cannot cover anymore, he has not been horrible this year IMO, but he is also giving up a poor completion % and a high number of yards against for the amount of times he is being thrown at. Couple this with his inability to play against the run consistently and his penchant for taking penalties, he has just not been nearly good enough for us. Infact, I would challenge anyone to show the tape of tonight to someone who knows nothing about the game, I would bet money that they would point out Glover Quin as being the guy with all the accolades and not Dunta.

I agree that the touchdown catch he allowed was a tough route to cover. Having to come all the way across the field on the backside of a receiver is definitely a tough play for a DB. I think what's so frustrating is the fact that he never really came close to having good coverage on the receiver. Vince Young could have thrown that ball at any given time and it would have been a completion, Dunta just doesn't seem to have the closing speed. I think back to San Fran when Isaac Bruce blew right by him on a deep ball and Dunta had to take PI to keep him from making the catch. It's really not looking very good for him as a top end corner anymore.

is it the injury? while never a shut down corner he used to cover better than this.

this is my best guess, his injury has really slowed dunta down ... and let's be fair, that was a nasty injury. i'd rather watch joe theismann 100 times than see the slow-motion replay of dunta's planted leg get distorted forward. dunta as i've written several times earlier in his career had an absolutely insane closing burst once the ball was in the air. for anyone that watched the pregame talking about chris johnson and deon sander's "where did he go" speed, that's exactly what i mean - he could make 5 yards of seperation disappear in a blink. he's never been completely sound but his willingness to throw his body into a play and his second gear were what seperated him. he's still not a great "tackler", but he'll throw his body into a play. where he's lost what made him great was in his legs and despite a better understanding of the game (making him what should be a better player), he's lost what made him special in my opinion. now he's making up for that loss with holding penalties and pass interferance.

Dunta is a step or two slower then he used to be it really shows. He really seems to have lost his swagger too. I guess its pretty humbling to get picked on by a running QB and a rookie WR. Unfortunately, finding a new CB has become a higher priority than FS for us in the off-season.

D-Rob has never made the Pro bowl. :bubbles:

A person who knows nothing about football doesn't know what they're watching, so their opinion means pretty much nothing.

He's definitely not what he used to be physically, but he's a better cover man now which is much more important. Nnamdi Asomugha is a 4.45-4.5 guy and is the best corner in the league. Being smart is better than being fast. Dozens, maybe hundreds of 4.3 guys have been run out of the NFL because they don't have the mental side.

Robinson was in great position on the Bruce PI call, but got caught throwing his arm out when he turned around to break up the pass.

There's got to be better ways to spend 10 million dollars. He thinks he doesn't need training camp and then, in this important game, he gets toasted repeatedly and drops an interception that hit him in the numbers.

Sports radio 610 summed it up perfectly last night after the game:

"I guess Dunta doesn't have thumbs because that ball was thrown perfectly to his hands and why he didn't catch that, I have no idea".

Are you kidding me, are you telling me we can't get a quality corner for less than 9 million a year? Yah of course his stats are down cause everytime someone throws at him it's a defensive holding/pass interference call.

I stuck with Dunta throughout his contract negotiations and holdout, but my feet are dangling off his bandwagon and I'm looking for a soft spot to jump off. Two penalties, gave up a TD to a rook, dropped a pick my mom would've made and looked stupid on a few tackles.

For everyone blaming Kris for this loss, you might want to re-direct that blame to someone who possibly deserves it more.

The sad thing about it is that he was waiting for it. I saw it on the replay.

Disagree. Mawae made a dirty play on him, and he simply retaliated. Smith is one of the few FA signings that has actually panned out.

As for Dunta, he was just plain bad last night all the way around. In fact, I thought both he and Andre were off thier games. Andre looked disinterested and didn't give his best effort imo. So, these guys need to look in the mirror and man up.

I thought the same thing as well. Andre dropped a few passes that he normally would have made and Dunta was picked on repeatedly. That's not something you want to have happen to your "pro bowl" corner.

I can agree to a certain extent. But if we mentioned AJ having an off game you've got to mention Schaub throwing balls at ankles.

In the end, our passing game is one of the least worries.

Should've read: "Invoice me Rick".

Dude should be in jail for stealing money.

AJ's body language said it all IMHO, missed oppurtunities again and again on offense last night killed us, and the catche we did make were all at the ankle which lead to almost 0 YAC. The one long throw Schaub did have AJ had to wait on again, instead of throwing it over his shoulder and down the field to let AJ go get it..

But wait he threw for 300+ yards.. it's all good right?

Dunta just flat out sucks!!!!!!!!

So at least he changed it up this week, a 15 yarder for face mask instead of a I can't cover anything so I'll grab you Pass Interference Call.

He needs to go, if I was Rick Smith I would be such a d^^k to him I'd totally punk him. Here's how it would go.

DR: Hey Rick my agent called and said you wanted to talk to me about something.

RS: Yeh Dunta it's good to talk to you, how have you been.

DR: Good , good, I just parked my rolls, and I'm moving into my new 15,000 sq. ft. house.

RS: Well that's great, I'm glad the 10 million you made this year worked out for you, so that's what I wanted to talk to you about.

DR: Really thats great, what is there to talk about.

RS: Well remember when you wrote that "Pay me Rick!" on your cleats???

DR: Yeh, sure do, I'm real sorry about that, maybe I shouldn't ha........

RS: No, no you were right D-Rob, Bob McNair and I were talking and we really messed up. We don't know what we were thinking, I mean 23 million, that was just really not a equitable deal. You deserve a new contract, one that is fair to you.

DR: (Sniffles, Tears Streaming, choked up.) Well gee thanks Rick I'm so happy that you have decided to meet my number, I me I really want to retire a Texan.

RS: Well that's great because I can't see another team ever signing you after you play for us, so here it is, how about a 5 year supply of "Jelly of the Month Club" Gift Certificates, we'll add in a signing bonus of an American Airlines Ticket Economy Class to the city of your choice because you can take a f-ing hike you jack ass!!!!!

This guy sucks, he's either flying around horizantally out of the play or he's getting 15 yarders, or it looks like he's trying the race the guy running paralell never closing in until someone else make the tackle. Used to love ya man, now your just a jack ass.

The love affair is over. Put him on special teams for the remainder of the season hitting returners and trade him for a new waterboy and maybe a peanut vendor in the offseason.
