Why I hate Vince Young with a White Hot Passion!

So, not only was I at the game in 2006, but, starved for Texan info, I read pretty much everything. So, I'm reading Solomon's blog on Chron.com and I encounter this baffoon!:

"When the Texans had a chance to draft Vince Young they had a chance to draft an actual "Houston Texan." But they didnt. Their name is a sham and a disgrace, and I will always root for the real Houston Texan over a fake "hometown" team called the Houston Texans.

The VY love will never go away, and we'll never leave town, and we'll never shut up and it will ALWAYS matter when he comes back to town. "

This is why I will heckle, mercilessly, everyone wearing a #10 jersey until they show me their Tennessee drivers' license. Man, I am fired up for this game! If we still had Ephraim Salaam at LT, I would strongly encourage Kubiak to suit me up this week... Alas... we are too freakin' talented, and I have some false starts to cause. Because of former Chief and DENVER BRONCO Neil Smith, I can't do it on the field... But, by God, I can do it in the stands!!!!

3 wins over subpar not elite teams...and they didn't win because of him...too much hype...besides, hate is a strong word.

Chris, my voice just went hoarse simply thinking about Monday night!

I hear you, man. I'm not going to sleep Sunday night. My wife is going to see a side of me on Monday night that I'm sure she'd rather not see. I mean, she's a Texans fan too - but here's the thing...

Monday night is uncharted territory. I always get amped for EVERY Texans game... throw in that it's a game against the Titans - I'll be even more amped... but that's nothing unusual.

I hate the Titans with burning passion that could light ten thousand suns... so to put this game on a Monday Night - Texans vs. Titans - on Monday night!!! For the FIRST TIME!?!?! I have no idea how I'm going to react... there will be lots of screaming.

Oh - and on top of all that - throw into the fire the fact that we have a chance to avenge the 2006 OT run by Me-Y against Me-Y himself...

My blood pressure is going to be through the roof.

Pretty sure you were my favorite poster before this post, but this one pretty much locked it up.

Sorry, but VY is still a hero to me. His entire senior year at Texas, including the national championship, justifies the admiration.

That said, he would've been a horrible fit for this team, and the fanboys who think otherwise sound desperately lame. I know a couple of them here in Austin. Normally, they are very intelligent people until they get to this topic. Their belief is 10% logic and 90% dogma. Meanwhile, Schaub puts up Peyton Manning numbers.

Agreed. He didn't play his Senior year at UT though. He left as a Junior. I'll always root for Vince individually though except for when he plays Houston.

Agreed here as well. I wanted him to come here at the time before the draft, but I know that we made the right decision in the end. We got a franchise DE, and those are hard to find these days while Vince has struggled a whole lot. Hope we win on Monday.

Blah, I mean his final year. But yes, I root for him when he's not playing us. The Titans are like your horrible ex-wife who you hate, but you have to wish for her well-being because she's helping to raise your kid... All while being a total *****.

Thank God I've never been married.

Being a Longhorn I love VY, even have a picture or two in my home of that special touchdown. With that said he is the ENEMY - nuff said.

Hate a guy because some guy made a comment on some guy's blog.

Here we freakin' go again, this is the biggest game in Texans history. BTW, has anyone kept a tally of how we are doing in these biggest game in Texans history showdowns?

If we don't win some folks are going to burn this mutha down. :texflag:

I'm also one of those that wanted VY drafted to the Texans, but I have seen the error of my ways. Let the Tacks deal with with the schizoid man, we have Mario instead. :)

only thing that makes this game remotely bigger is it being on national tv. one of their players tried some weak smack talk to try and amp up the game...may work in college Bulluck, but if you were that tough, you wouldn't be the suck that you are.

this game is against:

-a team that is the doormat of the league.
-a team last in its own division
-a team that has a qb who is statistically in the bottom 20% in the league
-a team we have beaten twice in a row
-a team whose pass defense is worse than all in the league save for the Lions.
-a team whose coach is probably in his last season

we can all try and make it more than it is, but I would be more excited playing a more worthy opponent.

I see the Texans winning this one rather easily.

Well, when you live in Austin and loath Mack Brown and all the myopic worship of this football team, the VY final year was dark enough. Throw-in the fiasco of the 2006 draft, then the game in November, the fact that he plays for Bud Adams' team... I don't know... Seems to me that there is a lot there.

For all you UT fans: aren't you embarrassed at the lengths that Mack Brown goes to in order to avoid competition? Four out of conference games and the toughest opponent was New Mexico! And, he's going to be rewarded for it! Man, college football is such a joke!

High School rival? Check.
Collegiate rival? Check.
Professional rival? Check.

Yeah, I hate VY (as a player of course, not as a person). I hate the crap VY fanboi spewed when the Texans didn't draft him (and thank God they didn't because he was not worth a top 10 pick let alone a #1). I hate his punk ass for yelling "this is my house!"..

Wass ma name??

I hate him because of the "This is my house' BS. I hate him for the EA comercials. I hate him for damn near every UT fan in existance talking **** about him being the best QB ever. I hate him because he puts up David Carr numbers and people call him a winner. I hate that everytime I turn on my Houston sports talk radio, I have to hear about a sub par QB from TENNESSEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate that this whole week has been Rich Lord giving Vince sloppy oral sex on live radio. People, he is a Titan, you cant root for te Texans and VY, cause for one to do well, the other has to fail. To sum it up, **** HIM!!! Dale, must spread rep yada yada.

Really... you hate someone you do not know? He do something bad to you or your family... I just cant get it.. I mean isn't there something more meaningful in life than worrying about a guy who plays a game and that has no bearing on anything concrete?
Maybe it's me, but man, there are way too many people who get upset or angered over something very minor for what ever reason...

I don't hate VY. I can't stand fans that are so far up his can. I understand UT alums adoration for him. I understand Madison Marlin alums loving him. But give me a ph***ing break about not taking him in 06. Get over it. Better yet, don't get over it. Keep on sounding like a sad pathetic love sick schoolgirl who didn't get thier cherry popped by the teams QB even after it was clear that he was not really all that special.

Dale, I feel for you. I work out of Georgetown, and I live in a small town in Bell County filled with t-sips. They think tu is the greatest thing on earth, and VY is a God to them. I didn't become a really big Aggie fan until I had to live around all of these people. And who in the hell that plays Central Florida in mid November gets in a national championship game? College football is a joke. I would give a weeks pay to see them play TCU this season. When they lost, all you hear would be "If only Vince was still here, we would have pulled this one off and beaten TCU. Vince was the greatest QB ever you know..."

Ahh yes... "perspective" from someone who frequents a message board. Thanks! you just changed my life.

As the late, great Ronald Reagan once said (I think): You're either with the United States (Texans) or against the United States (Texans). And if you're against the United States (Texans), you will lose.

I don't dislike VY the person but I'm tired of hearing about VY the player .

All week on sports talk you have folks calling in proclaiming Vince's greatness . Then the same caller admits he's not better than Mario or Schaub . A caller says they would rather lose with VY than win with Schaub . Callers try to convince you that the Titans should have changed their whole offense to accommodate VY ... what if he gets hurt ... and that you can run the option in the pros and that VY is that special and Fisher hated him and he's wasted this enormous talent blah blah blah .

As Texan fans we should drown out the VY/Titan fans big time . I'm not even opposed to booing VY to see if he'll sulk . I say we're going to kick their butts because I won't even consider the alternative .

:texflag: :fans: :gotexans1 : :tedc: :texan:

Well for all my distaste of all things tu, and the fact that where I live, they are usually Sowboy fans as well, I can only hope we don't pull the proverbial choke on this one. If we do, it'll be the first domino to a complete collapse.

I don't hate Vince Young. He may not be the brightest bulb but he seems like a genuinely good guy (Taking care of McNair's kids is a really good deed in my eyes). I like seeing him succeed, on the rare occasions it happens in the NFL, but that's it.

His "supporters" on the other hand can all jump in a gigantic vat of fire. I'll admit, I didn't think he deserved ROY, and I don't think he deserves the "He just wins", and hearing mouth-breathers spout off about how great of a QB he is riles me. It's the same with the Cowboys. I actually think most of their players are decent human beings and are actually skilled at football. The fans, however, are some of the biggest idiots calling in to sports radio shows.

In the end, I try to make fun of Vince's action on the field (Although the pictures that surfaced of him in da crub were too funny) because off the field he seems pretty harmless.

Really?Because I see a team that re-evaluated things during their bye and who has stepped it up since. That doesn't mean that their pass D is tops but they improved.

By your generalizations people would still say that teams should easily run on the Texans because they are a weak run D. But that takes the beginning of the season and magnifies it while not realizing how the run D improved greatly since the beginning games.

All the things you put above are what people were saying about the Texans for years but people still expected close games.

Consider all that and then consider that if we loose the game they are only 1 game behind us in the standings. Im still trying to come to grips with this.

The "ex-wife" analogy is hysterical, as I'm currently (not to mention permanently) on wife number three. As far as liking, or disliking Vince, I could give a rat's ass either way. He's a second tier NFL QB at best. Is he going to make some individual plays ? You bet, but I don't see him running rampant into the Texans secondary. I'm very confident that the Texans and the fans will bring forth a BIG "W" !

As a proud ex-Houstonian and Longhorn alum who never gave a crap about the Longhorn football program (they sucked then, the Oilers ruled), do you Aggies ever hear how silly you sound? TU? T-sips? LOLOLOL. College football is a big meh to me, especially the trite nonsense about the "tradition" and rivalries, and nobody does the stupid college shi*t like the Aggies. VY sac-clingers are pathetic, but not as pathetic as the Aggies and their endless parade of weirdness.

Maybe this will help you understand what it means to be an Aggie:

^^^^ This is the reason people hate arrogant 'Sips. Talk about weird, Austin's motto is "Keep Austin Weird"

Does a "I hate VY" thread really have to turn into a UT-A&M rivalry thread?

Really?

Take it to the college forum.

Exactly. I should've typed something more along these lines, and apologies to the board....

Nicely done!

Oh yeah, back on topic. I hate VY's sausage parties. :hobie:

Ah, I see. It's arrogant to laugh at people who, for a reason I've never understood, think it's meaningful to refer to UT as "t.u." (oh burrrn!!!) and UT alums as 'sips. Um, okay. If that's what you need to do, knock yourself out.

I just think it's as stupid as the Orangebloods at shaggybevo who constantly use "aggy" as a pejorative when discussing the Houston Texans.

I really don't even know what that's supposed to mean.
