Who do you guys want as of today returning our kickoffs and punts?

Phillip Buchanan:
72 Punts Returned
790 Yards
11.0 Yards Average Return P/Punt
3 Touchdowns
---
2 Kick Returns
25 Yards
12.5 Yards Average Kick Return
0 Touchdowns

--------------------------

Reggie Swinton:
90 Punts Returned
977 Yards
10.9 Yards Average Return P/Punt
2 Touchdowns
---
145 Kick Returns
3463 Yards
23.9 Yards Average Kick Return
2 Touchdowns

--------------------------

Jerome Mathis (College):
2 Punt Returned Touchdowns at an Average of 23.5 Per Return
---
62 Kick Returns
1648 Yards
26.6 Yards Average Kick Return
6 Touchdowns

Swinton returning punts and Mathis returning kicks. Buchanon may be better at punts than swinton but the risk of injury is too high for our starting corner.

I agree there. I look back at D. Green on the redskins. He only returned punts and kicks in SPECIAL games or moments. Other than that I say leave it to the burner Mathis to break him in with game speed on the NFL level.

I would consider swapping them. Let the burner handle punts, when you typically have less time to react and the proven kick returner take the Kickoffs.

I would rather have Mathis returning kicks and Swinton returning punts so that we don't have to worry about Buchanan getting hurt.

give it to the man who earns it, the old fashioned way. would like to see the position open for whoever wants it the most and shows they can make a significant upgrade from Mosses. Don't forget about Starling too :survivor:

It's an outside shot, but they may take a look at Kevin Kasper

77 Kick Returns
1869 Yards
24.3 Yards Average Kick Return
0 Touchdowns

The kid is fast as hell (still holds three all-time records at the combine) but has had injury problems. I've been following this kid since college, and he's definitely fun to watch. He goes all out all the time. He definitely looks strong enough to get the job done.

He's (Swinton) got 54 games played with 235 returns (145 @kr & 90 @ pr). He's had a total of 10 fumbles with 5 of them lost. 4/2 in his rookie year, 1/0 in year #2, 4/2 again in year #3, and 1/1 in year #4. It looks as though he'll a 4/2 year with us if you go off his history. Hmmm...

hopefully Swinton will not make the team and his spot can go to a promising young player. IMHO, Mathis will win the job as KR and will also do the majority of the PR duties with PB doing some of it.

Look for Mathis to handle kickoff returns and then a CB or Buchanan handle punts. P. Buch has been doing punt returns his whole career and been starting also so he can handle it. So I am going with Mathis and P. Buch. and then our young fast corner and Tony Hollings as the backups.

the 5-8 CB we signed as an undrafted FA..........he runs a 4.35..........has ever returned kicks ?
Not at Arizona State.

It takes MUCH more than raw speed to be a punt returner. You need to be able to cut quickly and have a bit of ability to make people miss. Not every fast guy has that wiggle. If it didn't we would all only see sprinters as returners. It should be one of the better camp battles.
