Williams Tower to read "TEXANS"

Pretty cool, hopefully anyone who lives near that are can take a snapshot of the building for those who drive in from the northside and other locations.

The Hines real estate firm is taking a page from the University of Texas' playbook when it comes to showing gridiron spirit.

On Monday, "Texans" will be spelled out in lights on the south face of Williams Tower for that night's game between the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans.

UT lights up its tower with the number "1" when its football team scores a victory.

Most everybody knows the 64-story Williams Tower, formerly the Transco Tower, is the Galleria-area skyscraper at 2800 Post Oak Blvd. topped with a revolving beacon of light.

Spelled vertically, Hines said "Texans" will take up 390 feet and 242 windows.

Each letter will be more than 5 stories - or 65 feet - tall. And each letter will be 35 feet wide

South side of the Williams tower.....like 76 said...that's a lot of windows.

They should put "MARIO" on the other side of the WILLIAMS TOWER to get him pumped up and ready to crush VY.

Too bad I'm stuck in Austin so I'll just see the UT tower lit up when the longhorns beat weak assed kansas saturday night.....woo-hoo (sarcastic)

I live right by it and have gotten several great shots of it. If I'm not at the game, I'll try my best to get some great shots of it. I'd like to know how long they will have it up there though. I'd hate to have to be forced to get those shots during the game.
