PLEASE, PLEASE, do away with this ridiculous fan voting aspect of the probowl. Can we maybe just have some fan appreciation awards or something useless like that? Pepsi can sponsor it and someone from american iddiot can host it.

BOB FU(KING SANDERS????????????

any competition that involves voting as a measurement is ludicrous. That's why almost all awards are stupid. Essentially, all those awards should simply be titled, "Popularity Award, presented by ____".

At least the NFL recognizes that the Pro Bowl is meaningless. It's basically flag football where half the guys don't show up -- not to mention they don't let home field in the Super Bowl ride on the outcome.

I also don't think the media does any better of a job. They are the reason people only care about certain players on certain teams. If ESPN actually covered the whole NFL the fans would know more before voting.

No AFC South fullbacks, defensive tackles, inside linebackers, outside linebackers, cornerbacks or kick returners are currently in the top five.

:mcnugget:

Every sport is having the same problem, they need to scrape the popularity contest across the board.

I don't mind the fans voting at all and am glad it's only a third of the total...at least the NFL isn't as dumb as the MLB and tries to artificially make this game count for something. Watching all star games is like eating extruded chicken products - you know its chicken, kinda.

If there are any NHL followers in the crowd you will remember last year (or was it 2 years ago?) when the Vancouver Canucks fans decided to all get together and vote Rory Fitzpatrick in as a starter for the All-star team. The guy could barely make his own team at the time, and was definately not an all-star, but he almost got voted in in the end. Lets just be glad that for the NFL, fans votes count for only a third.
