BCS bowl game predictions

Here are my BCS bowl game predictions. It's a little early but hey, why not?

National Championship Game: Alabama vs. Texas

Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs. Stanford

Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. Cincinnati

Sugar Bowl: TCU vs. Florida

Fiesta Bowl: Boise State vs. LSU

This is assuming Bama beats Florida in the SEC championship game. Assumes LSU wins out against Arkansas and Ole Miss. Assumes Stanford wins out. Assumes GT wins ACC championship. Also assuming there will be no undefeated vs undefeated teams playing one another except in the NC game.

What I want to see:

National Championship Game: Alabama vs. Texas

Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs. Stanford. You can't change this one, it is Big Ten champ vs. Pac 10 champ.

Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. Florida. Triple option vs Triple option. Would love to see this game.

Sugar Bowl: TCU vs. LSU. Honestly, I don't think LSU is that good but if they win out against Ole Miss and Arkansas they will most likely make a BCS game.

Fiesta Bowl: Boise State vs. Cincinnati

Thoughts?

I have a feeling that only one of the non-BCS teams makes it in. Last year Boise State was undefeated and had to play TCU in a none BCS bowl.

Unless there is a rule where only 1 can make it, I don't see any other team that deserves it more. I could see their being a rule that doesn't allow it though.
 
A conference can only have two teams in the BCS. So in your first scenario LSU would be left out.

It's not about who deserves it. It's about who is going to make the most money (see Ohio St making the Fiesta Bowl last year).

There is no rule that says only one non-BCS team can get in. But I really don't think any of the bowls are going to choose Boise St over a less deserving team who would bring more dollars.

That's great, I think LSU is way overrated.

What do you mean by other teams bringing more money than Boise? Do you mean through ticket sales? I would imagine their fans would show up in full force.

Who would you like to see in LSU's place? I'm not a big believer of Oregon but I can see them sneaking in even if Stanford wins the Pac 10.

I would imagine people would want to watch an undefeated team, so the rating should be on par.

No, actually I think the rule is 2 but it has never happened and the standard has been to let 1 in. I don't see that ever changing.
 
the Pac-10 is the best conference this year, hopefully 2 of their teams make the BCS if Cincy, Boise St and TCU don't all make it (they won't)

TV ratings (perceived or real) will work against them.

I think there is a good chance that the second place team in the Pac 10 gets invited before Boise St (that would mean a 3 loss team over an undefeated team).

I would love to see Boise St get in but right now I'm about 90% sure that they won't.

I will try to churn something out pretty soon but there is still so much that could happen that would change everything. For example, if Clemson were to beat Georgia Tech for the ACC title they would get the automatic bid. But then what happens? Does Georgia Tech still get invited or does the door open for Oklahoma St, Iowa, or Penn St? Or does Boise St get invited?

Oregon would be the only team and they lost to Boise State

I'm not saying it would be right or fair. I'm just giving my opinion of what I think is going to happen.

I think Boise St deserves to go to a BCS game. But history tells me that they won't get invited unless TCU somehow loses before the regular season is over. I hope I'm wrong.
 
after watching all the highlights from the Boise State/Oklahoma Fiesta Bowl, i desperately want to see BSU back in a BCS game
 
So here is the selection order this year:

1. National Championship Game (BCS #1)
2. National Championship Game (BCS #2)
3. Whatever Bowl loses it's host to the NCG as BCS #1 (likely the Sugar losing the SEC champion)
4. Whatever Bowl loses it's host to the NCG as BCS #2 (likely the Fiesta losing Texas)
5. Orange Bowl gets to select an at large team to face the ACC champion
6. Fiesta Bowl gets to select an at large team to face the Big XII champion (or pick #4)
7. Sugar Bowl gets to select an at large team to face the SEC champion (or pick #3)

The Rose Bowl will be Pac 10 champion vs Big Ten champion unless one of those teams is selected to play in the NCG (highly unlikely this year).
 
With the selection order in mind, here are my predictions:

Georgia Tech is guaranteed a spot in the Orange Bowl as ACC champion
Oregon and Ohio St are guaranteed spots in the Rose Bowl as Pac 10 and Big Ten champions, respectively.

1. NCG selects Alabama
2. NCG selects Texas
3. Sugar Bowl selects Florida as replacement for SEC champion
4. Fiesta Bowl selects Cincinnati as replacement for Big XII champion
5. Orange Bowl selects Iowa
6. Fiesta Bowl selects TCU
7. Sugar Bowl selects Boise St

So here we go:

National Championship Game - Alabama vs. Texas
Rose Bowl - Oregon vs. Ohio St
Sugar Bowl - Florida vs. Boise St
Fiesta Bowl - Cincinnati vs. TCU
Orange Bowl - Georgia Tech vs. Iowa


Notes:
After going over possible situations I decided that Boise St may actually have a chance to be selected for these reasons:
LSU will be ineligible because two SEC teams will have already been selected.
Pittsburgh will have two losses because I am predicting Cincinnati to beat them.
Oklahoma St will have three losses because I am predicting Oklahoma to beat them.
Penn St will be ineligible because two Big Ten teams will have already been selected.

That leaves three loss Virginia Tech and a three loss Pac 10 runner-up as Boise St's only competition for the final spot.

If Oklahoma St beats Oklahoma I can almost guarantee that they will be selected before Boise St. It sucks, but that's just how I think it would go down.

i dunno, there's no way that Oklahoma State has more cache than Boise State, in any way. the fans will be at the game regardless of the team, and people will want to watch BSU over OSU.

i wouldn't mind either team making it, honestly, it'd be kinda cool to see Oklahoma State in a BCS game.
