Colts-Patriots thread

Pretty savvy of Brady to get a play off before anyone threw a red flag. I wonder if the Texans ever thought of such a thing? :thinking:
 
This game has basically become a must win after seeing the results of a lot of the other games this weekend. The wild card spots are being held by Pitt and SD at 6-3. It is now more likely that Denver will be the team we are chasing instead of SD, but they are still the div leaders for now.

Now is the time for us to be a 60 minute team. We need to prove that we can be a playoff team by beating a division rival who is on a 3 game win streak.

My keys to the game:

1) Get to them early - Titans are on a streak, but don't think that they have forgotten about their first 6 games of the year. If we can strike early and get up by a few points, I think the TITs will be deflated and fall apart.

2) Slow down CJ - We can't give up huge plays to the guy this time. We need to key on him and hit him hard when we get our chances.

3) Casey/Hill/Dreesen - One of these guys needs to step up and make some plays to open up the field for us.

4) Slaton - We need him to be involved in our offense in a big way if we want to make a playoff push. Gotta get him touches via rushes and screen passes.

This will be my first game this year that I actually get to see on TV!! I am super pumped for this so I really hope we bring home a W. It will be a great weekend for me since I am driving 10 hours each way to see my CFL team play in the playoffs on Sunday!

Week 11 is when this team got hot last year, let's hope history repeats itself.

I understand the concept of Kubiaks opening drive, but I would like to set the tempo with a couple of first downs to settle the offense down.

One thing that always seems to help this team is when they throw to AJ deep in one of the opening plays, it really stretches the D whether he catches the ball or not.
 
Ok, the Colts have sold their souls to the Devil, period. Yet another turnover at the goal line that ultimately would have cost them and now this. 35-34 Colts.

Remember that they are both 6-3...SD will play Denver and the loser will be tied with us if we win on MNF and like you said it is imperative that we win to take advantage of that. Pitt can still fall to us if they lose again and we win as well.

I freagin hate the Colts.

That Pass Interference Call was BS on the second to the last drive. The CB was looking back at the ball.
 
this game was fixed, Bellichick going for it, nope it was a fixed ending the spot was terrible, could have been challenged. But the cheater did not want to challenge? Fixed I tell you By the NFL
 
Apparently, Bill Belichick thinks he is one smart MotherFu*&%er. Well BILL, no matter what level of football, you don't go for it on a 4th down on your own 30 when you are up by 6 with less than two minutes left. DUMBASS..
 
I would have just let the COlts score asap and not played much of a D in hope of getting the ball back with at least a minute and try and drive down for a FG.

Nothing new, he did the same thing in the last superbowl with an unwarranted 4th down play at the end of the 1st half. Cocky bastard. 7 out of 10 times you might get away with that against any other qb....but you try that against Manning and the colts, in their house no less? Genius my ass....He essentially just blew home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

How in the hell was it fixed? Belicheat couldn't challenge it, he had no timeouts plus it was inside of 2 minutes so any challenge would've had to come from upstairs. Furthermore, Faulk didn't catch the ball clean, he bobbled it & didn't have clear possession until he got hit........which was right where the ref marked it.

The only reason you go for it there is for fear of the other team's offense, specifically their QB.

There is nobody better in the 2 minute situation than Peyton Manning. I actually understand going for it. I wouldn't have because I am conservative, but Belichek certainly is not.

I figure the logic of it was that with Manning being Manning you give him 70 yards in 2 minutes he can move the ball and score, if you give him 35 yards in 2 minutes he can move the ball and score, but if you get a 1st down and keep him off the field, he doesn't score.

Another thought on the logic is that a short field is easier to defend than a long field as it takes away the deep ball a bit because your defense isn't spread quite so thin.

Well those are my logical defenses of the play, I can respect the decision.

oh and his QB is Tom Brady. oh and going for it on that 4th and 2 has won them championships before. it's what they do. they have balls.

I respectfully disagree. The Patriots had been scoring at will during the game. They are down to less than two minutes and up by six. Picking up that type of 4th down isn't as easy to make as it may seem, and here is a team in the Colt's house, on your own 30-yard line, and go for a 4th down and 2?

I don't think Belichek is a dummy by no stretch of the imagination, but I do think his is arrogant, otherwise he wouldn't have pulled that in-your-face, in your house, heck yeah I will go for it on a 4th and two on my 30. Watch me!

Agree with everything but the bolded, the play was snapped before the 2 min warning, review could only be done by a challenge, and it was VERY close whether he got posession of that pass for the first down after the bobble. Pats blew that too by not saving a timeout.

I understand where you are coming from, obviously, but at the same time it isn't like its easy to stop Peyton Manning and the Colts in that situation (had they punted) either.

Manning and Company had been outscored all night. I'm not complaining because if the Colts aren't playing the Texans or Cowboys, I can relax and enjoy their games. Manning is a very impressive qb, but he still doesn't walk water yet. Therefore, Belichek should have kept doing what he had been doing to keep the lead.

I understand the mentality just fine but it was still a dumb ass move. For all those defending belichick's idiotic move, ask yourselves how you'd feel if Kubiak made the exact same call in that situation.

Yeah Manning might be one of the best in the 2 minute drill regardless of where he gets the ball on the field, but i'm going to go out on a limb and say that he's that much better with a short field as opposed to a longer one. In addition to this, they picked him off twice in the 2nd half. You just don't do that no matter how good your offense is and how good the other guy is because you've got too many factors going in you favor.
