Antonio Smith to DT, Barwin to start?

Most people thought that was his best position anyway, kind of a poor man's Justin Tuck.

Thats not gonna happen

Zgonina and Cody have played well enough to warrant playing time and they're true DT's

Antonio Smith played DT on a lot of downs vs. Indy because they're in a nickel defense the whole time. He plays inside on the nickel D and Barwin plays end.

This makes sense. PFW's "inside source" was probably someone who had access to their closed practice and saw Smith take a lot of reps at DT without knowing the bigger picture.

" Looking ahead, don't be surprised if Texans DE Antonio Smith eventually ends up inside at tackle full time, with Connor Barwin replacing him in the lineup, a source close to the team tells PFW. The move isn't imminent, but Smith, while undersized for a tackle, would fit the active, disruptive mold of interior lineman that defensive coordinator Frank Bush likes."

I did. I thought it was interesting to discuss just the possibility of him converting full time to DT.

Would give us two attacking DTs in Smith and Okoye and give Barwin a chance to get better and use his elite athleticism to get some additional pressure.

It'd be a nice starting 4.

The mere speculation was enough for ridicule. These idiots clearly ran with this because the past 2 game we've played more nickel than base defense. Vs Buffalo because of their hurry-up offense and Indy because of Manning. I can see where a website with no clue could get off with running with speculation like this.

In Kubiak's presser he said that they were reviewing tape of the season thus far, and one of the things they were specifically looking at was players who weren't getting the playing time they deserved.

"Well, that's what the coaches are doing right now, they're watching and will self-scout... I want to have them talk to me about players, who they think our top guys are right now and how they're playing. The same thing we do at the end of the year I try to do it at the bye week so by the time I leave here tonight I'd like to have a good idea. One of the things that helps you sometimes to see where you're making some mistakes. Maybe you keep trying to do something that your players are telling you that they can't do."

That's not to say PFW is right on this, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see something like this happen.

I expect to see Smith take over a DT spot but not Barwin at DE. I'm a Barwin fan but he's not ready for that much. He can make packages look complex and maybe they start diving into the playbook a little more but C'mon...he ain't startin'.

wasnt it Barwin that missed the tackle against addai in the colts game winning td or was it him that had multiple costly penalties..I am confused how is he good again?

Give the rookie a break

He's good he just committed a rookie mistake and missed a tackle, Demeco Ryans missed a tackle on Marshawn Lynch last week it happens to the best of them

Actually it was #95 that whiffed the tackle in the backfield on Addai for the game winning TD. I think that's Cody, but I may be mistaken.

It was an off sides that never happened and the flag was thrown after the pass by Manning was incomplete.

I looked that that play multiple times in slow mo, and I didn't see the defensive offsides by anyone. The play didn't end up mattering because of the interception on the next play, but that was a weird call.

It WAS Cody...I had it in the gameday thread. Took super slo-mo to get the number clearly.

Yep, and thrown AFTER the play. Really strange stuff.

Barwin is a situational pass rusher he isn't a full time DE just yet and I think he will need to add a little beef to hold up against the run on a full time basis.
