103 penalty yards

Team Gruden
I can't believe there isn't a thread for this already.

The real score of this game was Texans 17, Colts/Refs 20.

It's true, we choked when the game was on the line. But I don't believe we would have even been in that position in the first place if the refs had called this game fairly.

Let's be real here. There is a penalty on every single down of NFL football. When you call 13 on one team and 4 on the other, that's called favoritism.

We played a better game than the Colts and we lost it because we were cheated by the refs. I don't get whiney when the Texans are outplayed, but it sure pisses me off when we outplay the other team and they win because everyone is in love with Peyton ****ing Manning and their 17 game winning streak.

would be ok with it if they put some "pain" into those penalties...I miss the House of Pain days... but that's not who we are...

I'm wondering when Mario & Antonio Smith are going to start getting the holding calls they deserve.

I thought Mario finally got there at the end of last season... but this is getting ridiculous.

yeah it was pretty lopsided. esp. with the leading with the forearm on that incomplete 3rd down play (shoulda been incomplete). I hate the unprotected receiver nonsense. IF he catches it and you lay him out, then it's legal. But if he loses the ball it is a penalty. That's a no-win situation for the defense anyway you look at it.

And Schaub had an illegal hands to the helmet on his pick late in the 4th qtr. Of course he's not Peyton "HOF" Manning so he didn't get the call.

DeMeco actually put a decent hit on Wayne way before the ball got there. Blatant penalty but might as well give them something to think about, he was going to make the catch anyway.

That had to be a record for most offside/encroachment calls on a defense today against the Texans.

The Barwin call was a effing joke.

I try not to get caught up in the ref bitching....but man.....seriously!!!:bat:

We messed up alot, no doubt. But some of those calsl were completely ridiculous, not to mention that we didn't get the calls in our favor that we should have.

Yes it was obvious that we were not going to get that many calls today as they gave the colts all they needed and then some to win that close game by 3 points.

Penalty on 31...hitting too hard

What was up with the offsides on offense penalty? I thought the refs blew the Moats fumble play dead as well?

They blew the whistle before Moats was down.... no doubt about it.

It should have been over at that point.

on the televised replay.... they replayed it without sound.

I know the refs have a head set on when watching the replay, you'd think that was so they could hear the whistle. But the way that ref was cutting up & laughing, I think he was on conference call with Bud Adams & the Colts owner.

i think they changed the rule on that. as long as it's clear who recovered the fumble you can have a recovery after the whistle.

They didn't even throw a flag on that one until after the play was over and the Colts didn't get the first down. Total bunk.

Are you out of your mind?

We did not play a better game than the Colts. Hell the offense didn't even play a complete game good, bad, or otherwise. They didn't even show up until late in the 2nd quarter and then they took a large part of the 4th off as well. When the visiting team gets 13 penalties called on it that's not favoritism. That's lack of composure. Much of it was idiotic stuff like jumping off sides. How about the turnovers? Do you have some conspiracy theory to explain why we gave the ball up like a drunk prom date? I don't even think Schaub looked at Andre Johnson before he threw the ball into triple coverage on his first pick. Ryan Moats fumble on the 2 yard line was inexcusable especially for someone who just got their starting job because the other guy couldn't hang on to the ball. The second pick of the day resulted from being hit as he threw the ball admittedly but this was Matt's second two-pick Sunday in a row.

Our offense sucked today. This was a day when we could have hung 30 points on the Colts if the Texans were half the team many people have asserted they were. We left points all over the place out there and we're never going to beat anyone truly good until we start playing for an entire 60 minutes. The Colts outplayed us. We fell short. We get to try again in a few weeks. We get the bye week and then the Titans so if we take care of business on MNF then we'll be playing the Colts here with our 6-4 record. They get the Patriots next week and if things go well they'll be 8-1 when Brady & Co. finish with them.

Of course if VY ends the night running around Reliant screaming "MY HOUSE" again then who really gives a **** what the Texans do the rest of the season?

Agreed. 13 penalties, 2 INT, 1 FUM. Don't forget about the field goal Kris missed and got a second chance at because the Colts called time out. We stole defeat from the jaws of victory on this one. If you turn the ball over more times than your opponent, don't expect to win the game. Throw some penalties on top of that to give Manning a second chance, and you're just asking for a butt kickin'.

That we didn't experience a true butt kicking is a credit to Frank Bush's defense. Exempting Dunta Robinson who can get his worthless ass out of Houston the moment his season is up for all I care I'm very impressed with what these guys are doing. I owe Frank Bush an apology. I did not give them nearly enough time to come together before I pushed the panic button. The only reason this wasn't another 42-13 loss was that the defense refused to quit. Unfortunately for them they play on a team where the offense frequently refuses to even start.

Cushing gets burned up and down the field by Clark, and D-Rob is the guy you want to single out?

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

No doubt.... good post.

I don't know why, but it seems so many people don't understand.

Had we won today, we would have been 6-3... the Colts 7-1

Next week they would have played the Patriots... could be 7-2

Then we play Tennessee if we win... 7-3 they play Baltimore could be 7-3

Then we meet at Reliant, could be 7-3 vs 7-3 with the division on the line.

Seems like everyone is happy that we're still in the hunt for the wild card. But that's exactly how a team misses the play-offs, by "playing for a wild card"

I know we're just fans.... & what we want don't mean much in the day to day decisions of the team.

But we should all be very, very, very upset that we aren't 6-3 when we had the ball in the final 2 minutes with a chance to go up against the Colts.

That's what we play for against the Colts, that's how you win. You weather the storm.. keep it close.... & miss a field goal at the last second.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Dunta spent most of the first half watching people catch passes in front of him and flying over/stopping short of piles he didn't want to be in. Oh sure, he laid his signature single dramatic pointless hit on somebody in the second half but I've never seen him play as "carefully" as he has the past couple of weeks. Dunta's just trying to get enough on film to get a contract but not get hurt.

Cushing did get beat by Clark a lot. No doubt about it. Clark beats a lot of people. Dunta on the other hand gives up a lot of yards for a guy pulling down 9 million dollars. The difference between the two of them is that the rookie LB will sort it out and get better while the overpaid CB will sign a FA deal and leave after he does as little as possible for his money.

OMG I know! What a crap call. I had my daughter in the room with me and we were watching together. I was sober and trying to stay calm (she's 3).

That call, really, really, made me pissed. Had to leave the room for a second and just chill.

Now that I dropped her back off, I'm having a few Shiner's. Thinking about that call gets me pissed.:gun:

I think you're mistaking Glover Quin for Robinson. I only saw D-Rob give up two catches in the first half, out of 40 pass attempts. Considering the passrush gave the DBs pretty much no help for most of the first half, they did really well holding down the Colt's receivers. They didn't allow a reception over 26 yards in 50 pass attempts from one of the best passing offenses in the NFL. I'd say they played very well.
