Got this off of the Jags MB.....could be bad for us if true...

Adam Scheffler of NFL Total Access reported a few moments ago that the Jags have been contact with the Seattle Seahawks to acquire Shaun Alexander for a Rd 3 Pick. Now Adam is saying that the Jags are balking at giving up the 3rd Rd pick plus giving Shaun the big contract. Still I got to believe there is much more to this story.

If the Jags do pull the trigger on Shaun Alexander then it definitely says that Fred may not be all that. Yet, I must admit I am excited about merely thinking about how Shaun Alexander would fit into the Jags offense, with or without Fred Taylor.

Here is another update from rotoworld.com...

NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports the Jaguars have talked to Seattle about acquiring Shaun Alexander.
The details of the talks are surprising. Seattle ''would be happy'' with a third-round pick, but the Jags have balked at the draft pick plus a new contract for Alexander. There are many implications here - the Jaguars don't have faith in Fred Taylor's knee, while Alexander owners can't count on him starting the season in Seattle. It would also create a hole on the Seattle roster. Jun. 6 - 7:47 pm et

All I can say is ouch. That could lower our Over/under in vegas 2 points...

dont wanna give up a 3rd rounder for Alexander?! The man was 1 yard away from the league rushing title last season and they don't wanna give up a 3rd rounder?! The kind's of RB's they could get with that 3rd round pick would be like Morency, Ryan Moats and stuff.

I think the Jags just might be iffy on signing anyone to the kind of contract that Alexander will command. I believe next season will be contract years for Leftwich, Mathis, and one of their D linemen. So while they have the money now, it could get hairy cap wise in a couple of seasons if they traded for him this season...
