Gameday Thread: Texans at Bills 11-01

This game will be probably the biggest of the year. Just because the Texans can go over .500 by two games at the midway point, (easy bench mark), and then they play Indi in Indi next week. I just have a feeling that the rest of the season hinges on this game. If they lose, then .500 is what will probably happen. Maybe 9-7 but no better. If they win, then a 10-6 or even an 11-5 is possible.

Clocks get pushed back. Once again, the universe works against the Texan fans and we have to wait an extra hour before we take command of the AFC wild card picture. Man, life just ain't fair!!

31 -12 Texans. Schaub shows dominance again with 3 more TD's and 300+ thru the air.

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. This is a very pivotal game, imo. One could even go as far to say that this is a "must win", imhmfo.

I see it more as a SHOULD win, which isn't a comfortable spot as a fan.

Next week is a MUST.

The ramifications of a W/L this week aren't nearly as great as next week.

I'm personally hoping for a solid win this week. Don't dismiss another 2nd chance start for a QB who tends to toss the pigskin further downfield to Owens and Evans. That's the big concern to me. You keep that part of the game in check, no way we lose today.

11-5 would be great, it's possible. But I think another draft and perhaps next year's free agent market to plug a few holes is required first. I would just love it for the Texans to prove me wrong on that. If they do, then that would mean next year we can make a honest attempt at taking the division. We have to get a lot better or Manning has to retire before we take the division. Wild cards are still good though. :)

I'm not even going to try and predict a score or say we are going to win..... wait and see. As much as I love the Texans they still haven't given me the confidence to say, "we're gonna kick that ass." I do think we will give them a run for their money, and possibly win..... :texflag:

Steve Slaton breaks over the century mark with a pair of rushing TDs. Schaub throws him one for good measure, as well as one to AJ.

The Bills defense is pretty good. I think we will need a spark in special teams. I think the Texans should win by 10, 23-13.

Why is GQ starting ahead of Reeves? It says Reeves is playing. I'm as big a fan of Quinn as everyone else here and think his emergence is a big reason why the defense has turned themselves around lately but I dont think he should be starting ahead of Reeves.

His best position is in the nickel imo where we can better take advantage of his tackling ability by keeping him in the flats to sniff out screen passes and send him on the occasional CB blitz.

Maybe they're grooming him to take Dunte's place next year?

I would like to see GQ and Frenchy starting just to see how it works.

Also I think that Moats should get some carries early on in Running situations. I think it would get a fire under Slaton's ass, not that he needs motivation because he seems to be a self motivator, but I think it would get him pumped and maybe push him a little.

Reeves let a rookie receiver who had zero practice time prior to the game (ever in the NFL) owns him!

Crabtree had 5 catches for 56 yards. Good debut but it hardly counts as "ownage". I wonder if TO is in Reeves' head from their time practicing against eachother with the Cowboys and the coaching staff doesn't want to risk TO having a big game?

Reevs got beat in several man-on-man moves.

Reeves got beat even when the ball was not thrown Crabtree's way!

Good point, but it was an outstanding college prospect that didn't have any game film that he was up against. So that could cut either way. Also I hate to keep dogging D-Rob, but I think Crabtree may have put up bigger numbers against D-Rob. Latst but not least it seemed like the CB's were playing the awesome Richard Smith 15 yard buffer special. I don't understand why they don't put Reeves in tight coverage all the time, maybe he still hasn't gotten his speed back yet.

Reeves was playing on-man coverage against Crabtree several times, and he got beat on the first step.

Reeves would be OK on T.O. who doesn't have a lot of quick moves left, but Evans can still be a bad matchup for him.

I got one eye on this game, other eye on Niners / Colts.

The Niners are the first REAL team the Colts will have faced all season.
THEY, unlike the Texans, took advantage of all the ham bones they
got in the 1st six games.

I like Reeves a lot. But, I was at the game last week, and Crabtree was beating him like a rented mule. My heart was in my throat everytime he was isolated on Reeves on the outside. I think it was just a bad game for Reeves. I won't worry too much about it until I see a trend.

I'm pretty pumped to watch this game, will be watching this alongside the Broncos game. Can't wait!

I think the score will be something like 35-7 with the Texans winning :shades:.

The one thing I would beware of with Buffalo is they are slowly making an art form of winning games ugly, if not just making their opponent play ugly as well:

6-3 loss to the Browns
16-13 beat the Jets, Sanchez has 5 picks'
17-9 over the Panthers

I predict 14-7, Texans but this wont win no beauty contest. If Slaton can finally et on track make it 21-7.

The Bills got a lot of love from the refs so far, and the ball has been bouncing their way.

The percentage ought to change at some point.
I'm hoping this is the day!

None of those teams have real offenses. The "New" Schaub was born
in Greenbay last December. The guy has been picking apart zone
coverages, and eating man coverage for lunch. I'm not overstating when
I say he's playing on a "Manning-like" level right now. Matt knows his
offense, and knows where the ball is going before the snap. You remember
that first quarter throw to O.D.? The ball hit Owen in the hands
at the EXACT moment he was turning up field.

Look at what he's done on the road this season. 387 yards and FOUR
touchdowns AT CINCINNATI?? Although the defense spotted the Cards
21 points, it was Schaub who turned it into a game. The defense did
everything they could to give Tennessee the ballgame, but Schaub
would have none of it.

It's time we Texans fans give our quarterback the credit he deserves. What
did he do when the home crowd chanted "We want Sage. We want Sage?"
Matt led his troops into the endzone for the first victory of the '08 season.
I do NOT expect this game to be CLOSE. Even if it is, it will be Schaub
making sure we have a chance.
