Uhoh, Cushing/Williams both Questionable for Sunday?

gtexan02

Working?
Just saw on NFL Network AFC Playbook that Cushing and Williams are questionable for Sunday. Cushing with a foot injury and Williams with a shoulder injury. I knew about Marios shoulder, but whats this about Cushings foot?

Cushing was questionable last week and played, so I imagine he'll be there on Sunday.

Mario hasn't been very effective the last few games(atleast by Mario standards), as he's struggled with his injury, and isn't playing full time anyways. It may be better if he takes a week off to get healthy, so he can come back and dominate like he's supposed to.

Ah, just saw the practice quotes from Kubes. Sounds like both are good to go. Whats wrong with Cushings foot though?

Well G-man, I googled "Cushing's Foot" and here is what I found:

B. Changes in the anatomy of Cushing's feet will be compared to normal.

I guess the goverment is also concerned with getting the Texans defense healthy. Comparing his blood samples to horses just shows that BRIAN CUSHING IS A STUD.

Supposedly, last week Cushing had x-rays and MRI which "showed nothing amiss." Fractures in the foot should have been ruled out by these tests and and even stress fractures of the foot by the fact that he can still function on the field. Stressed ligament(s) of the foot or mild cases of plantar fasciitis can account for the reported "soreness" and still not be well demonstrated on MRI. But, of course, all this deduction has to be based on the premise that the Texans are giving us all available facts.

They will both play because they both managed to practice this past week. No way they miss this game, we need to get a win to build momentum and they are going to do whatever it takes to get on the field and help their team out.

I'm sure a part of them taking limited reps in practice is Kubiak erring on the side of caution. He knows this D is what will determine making the playoffs or not (maybe job status too)

I'm not worried about Cushing so much as I am Mario. Even though I think Cushing is probably a pretty tough customer with how much care he takes with his body he is probably not shy about visiting the medical staff. Mario's been limited in his effectiveness on field so I'm a little more concerned about him.

Yeah, we need our bye week, like, now.

I wonder if before the season if you asked coaches what week they'd prefer the bye week - which one they would pick? It's go to be between week 4-10, and this year the Texans have 10.

Where would you think they would pick?

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Mario will be having shoulder surgery after the season's over. Especially if it's still a problem after the bye week.

And Cushing didn't practice last week before the Bengals game because of his foot, so I don't understand why this is new news to someone.

Or could it be a conspiricy to try and expose Cushings steriod use. :backsout:

If I was the coaching/medical staff I'd play both this week (as we need this win and the 49ers are quality competition) and then I'd rest Mario next week vs the Bills.....Houston should be able to win that game without him. That way, he can get 2 weeks off before we play the Colts...and then he'll get another 2 weeks off over the BYE.

If Cushing's foot flares up more, they might want to consider resting him vs the Bills as well.

from HT.com
Head Coach Gary Kubiak
(on the health status of his team) "Oh, we're good. Cush (LB Brian Cushing) practiced today. He's ready to go. Like I said, we're pretty much on schedule with what we were last week. (DE) Mario (Williams) took all his reps. We're fine. (S Bernard) Pollard was back to work today, feeling fine. So it looks like right, it's still (S) Nick (Ferguson) and (LB Jamie) Winborn going into the game."

Tomorrow, the only thing questionable about Cushing will be flag he gets when pounding Crabgrass into the turf as he welcomes him to the NFL.
