The Titans have started the season 0-6 and he is on the hot seat. Should he be fired or given another season to redeem himself? I remember Sam Wyche had a similar season back in 87 and the Bengals came back strong the next year(88).

To be honest I wouldn't even be thinking that way. I don't think Adams can get an elite like I believe Fisher to be.

When a team quits on a coach, there's only one choice in the matter. I voted "yes."

I think both parties would benefit from a parting of ways. It wouldn't hurt us either.

As a Texans fan, no, I'd rather seem him struggle for anotheryear.

If I was a titans fan, i'd be ready for someone new. Those players have totally quit on him

I can't see how Fisher is deemed elite by anyone. He's been there forever, and he's won exactly nothing.

That said, I do think he's a good coach. In terms of winning coaches, not quite as good as Marty Schottenheimer, but not as bad as Wade Phillips. And I think it's absurd that anyone thinks a coach that took his team to 13-3 last year suddenly forgot how to coach.

In the end, though, I don't care. I have no hopes to ever see Fisher in Houston, and I don't really care who coaches the Tacks, as long as it results in more losses.

Point taken. I really meant elite by comparison. BTW, how many rings does Marty Schottenheimer have again? (just goofing)

I tend to agree. I like Fisher but...

That's pretty much why I put Fisher where I put him. Marty has a way better record and getting into the playoffs, but no ring. Fisher got to the SB, but no ring, and not a particularly impressive string of playoff appearances. Wade has a winning record overall, but no one's mistaking him for a great coach.

Obviously, the championship coaches are on another level.

Jeff Fisher's next job?

I had this for the other thread but it simply wasn't worthy of the photoshoping going on over there...lol.

Fisher is the second winningest active coach behind The Hood (Belichick).

That's gotta' say something for the guy.

Considering his owner, I think he's done pretty good under the circumstances.

I'm not saying he's "elite", but there are only a handful of those in NFL history anyway. But I am saying that he's pretty dern good and at the present, better than our current or previous HCs....which, of course, doesn't say much.

If you're somewhere for fifteen years and don't win a championship, you're not going to win one there. Winning seasons are only so good for so long (see: Marty Schottenheimer, Dan Reeves).

2nd winningest "active" coach doesn't say much either, to be honest. You can qualify any stat/statement down to meaningless, and this one, while not quite meaningless, is not all that. Someone else said it, maybe on here, maybe on the radio, but in Fisher's fifteen years, plenty of SB-winning coaches have been fired. In just the last couple years, we've seen Shanahan, Gruden, and Billick fired. That's four Super Bowls right there.

I reiterate, though - it's not like Fisher forgot how to coach all of a sudden. His players are the ones spitting the bit.

If you're somewhere for fifteen years and don't win a championship, you're not going to win one there.

It took Bill Cowher 15 years to win one in Pittsburgh, and they've got a winning tradition, don't have an owner like Bud Adams, and didn't move to a new city.

Winning seasons are only so good for so long (see: Marty Schottenheimer, Dan Reeves).

I'd be happy with our first as a Texans fan.

Voted "Too early to tell."

In this league, they could rack up 10-straight wins and shock the world with a wildcard berth (if things got goofy somehow with other teams) and possibly run the table in the playoffs.

Then, nobody here nor anywhere else would be laughing.

Until they get to 8 losses, there is no corpse.

I guess I just don't understand this 'fire the coach' mentality. I guess I never will. But I have to accept it because it's "traditional emotion", and logic doesn't have anything to do with it.

Perfect example: It's been stated and even reiterated, that Fisher, coming off a 13-3 season, didn't become a bad coach overnight.

OK, so if that's true, what is the case for firing him?

Will someone please explain it to me? I don't get it.

When your coach loses his team, it's about time to lose the coach. Nobody is saying that he can't coach, he'll get a job somewhere else (Mike Shanahan didn't forget how to coach either, but it's obvious a little shakeup did them some good.). It's obvious that the team is tired of hearing the same ol' voice and they've tuned him out.

Unless you'd be willing to part ways with a roster that just went 13-3 last season and had the best record in the league last season, it's easier to just get a new coach in there.

That's one thing I'll give Kubiak and one of the biggest things he has and has had going for him. The Texans could be 3-7 (like last year) and they still always fought for him.....they still fight for him today. As long as they do that, McNair is probably not going to let him go.

When the Titans walked into that snowstorm up in Massachusetts and then proceded to get drummed 59-0, it was clear that they just flat out quit on their coach.....I think the "Fisher era" died on that snowy field also. I think Fisher knows it as well...

I don't follow Titans hardly at all anymore but if players quit on a coach, do not perform or do not listen to the coach then 1 of two things have to happen.

1. Get a new coach
or
2. Get rid of the players

That being said, I don't think the loss of their D-Coord or Fat Albert is the reasoning behind their D suffering. Last year's 13-3 record is skewed because there were not alot of quality wins over good teams. They got a good early start but were avg towards the end. But wins are wins and Fisher is a good coach.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The wife of former Titans general manager Floyd Reese called a Nashville radio station Thursday to blast the team and Jeff Fisher, a day after hearing talk that her husband has hated the coach since losing a power struggle in Tennessee.
**
"He kept Jeff from getting fired two times," Reese said of her husband. "So if he'd let him get fired, he'd still be there. Hello? That's hindsight. ... Sunday I was hoping they'd run it to 100. And I love Tennessee. All you Tennessee people, my dad's from Tennessee, but when you get sucker punched, you want to sucker punch back."

That's some crazy insight.

Check this post off the Titans' board out...
Ok so I live in Indiana so clearly I get different info and alot about the Colts, but today on our Sports Radio show called JMV the had Melvin Bullet on there. (Defensive player for the Colts.) Anyway they were talking about Colts stuff when JMV said aren't you friends with a few titans? Melvin confirmed and said that he worked out before he was a starter with Finny to get some tips as well as former Colt Nick harper. So JMV asked what had happened with the team. Melvin said that he isn"t 100% sure what all is going on, but Finny confirmed that for what ever reason they have lost respect for Fisher and that they were done playing for him etc. Again he wouldn't say why for obvious reasons, but something big has happened and well find out soon enough.

If that is true, then Fisher HAS TO GO... Reminds me of '05 when it became apparent the team flat out gave up on Capers. The difference though is they still didn't quit on the season.

This years' Titans have QUIT on their coach AND the season.....it's the reason why they don't even compete and just get blown out every week now.

In this case, I'd take option #2, thanks....and I'd start letting the players know it right about now.

Getting rid of the players is a given. Everyone thinks the coach is easier to replace, so they'll fire Fisher, and then the new coach will replace most of the players. So the players are gone anyway. If they have to lose a good coach along the way, well that's good for us, I guess.

What he said

I voted to keep him because I think keeping him will result in more Tacks losses.

Which is always a good thing.

Fisher isn't nearly as great as he's made out to be. Honestly he's almost becoming a urban myth or "Bill Brasky" on this board. It's getting to the point where so many people have just heard how great of a coach he is, that everybody now just buys it.. There's been better coaches fired, he shouldn't be replaceable. The guy can be replaced and with how long he's been with that team, this year might be a good time to do it.

If a new coach is brought in, all the players aren't going to have to be replaced....there's still young talent on that team that the next coach is going to keep. If Fisher stays, you pretty much have to gut the roster, deal with a crap load of drama, lockeroom rumors, and just a bunch of B.S. Frankly it's not worth it.

id say no. they quit on him alright but that has more to do with the players being disillusioned with how the season has gone compared with their expectations. not an excuse but after a 13-3 season its hard not to understand that.

plus the jags quit on del rio last season & they're doing pretty good considering how young they are

probably because fisher brought in petey to compete for the nickelback spot. i can imagine all the titans players reaction when fisher told them... here is KVB's

Says the dude who started the "The All Encompassing FIRE KUBIAK thread" in the middle of the FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON.

And before you attempt to say that it was some sort of "plan" to preemptive everyone, your initial emotion-based rant said it all. :tiphat:
