I just heard the 45 point halftime deficit was the largest in NFL history. You can add that one to the other record his franchise holds for largest lead (32 points) blown in the playoffs.

This was actually worse than the 61-7 drubbing the Oilers took at the hands of the Bengals when Sam Wyche was doing everything to run up the score on Glanville, like kicking an onside kick with a 40 something or 50 something point lead.

Unlike the Bengals that day, the Patriots weren't trying to humiliate the Titans and still put up 59. I wonder if they could have put up 80 or 90 if would have had it out for the Titans.

Couldn't happen to anyone better.

This loss was also the worst loss in their franchise history. Nice to see them setting these types of records in another location. It should shut up all those people that were blaming the city of Houston for their ineptness. Bud's team is Bud's team no matter where they play.

However we should send a cease and desist letter to them or the NFL to immediately stop wearing the name "Houston" on any apparel they are wearing on the sidelines. It's an embarrassment to the city of Houston.

Wow. So now we know the answer to the age old riddle:
What happens when you combine two curses at the same time?
Disaster

Terrible towel + Houston Oilers uniforms = curse^2

Boy do I remember that awful game from the Oilers on that day. I had a disgusting taste in my mouth that entire day. What a bad memory. The Bengals embarrassed us bad that day.

The strange thing about that for me was it was at least in part retaliation against Jack Pardee and the Houston Cougars. Either way Glanville sure did get the Oilers game circled on a lot of opposing schedules.

Little did they know that that was the best time they would have for very many years because after that, their team stunk for almost two decades.

Unless my memory is incorrect, I don't even remember the Bengals being that great of a team that year. That wasn't the year that they made it to the SB with Icky Woods was it? I just remember score after in that game where it was one of the ugliest NFL games I had ever seen before.

Read this, read this now now now:
Going Down With the Ship: A Fan's Perspective of Tennessee's Titanic Crash

Really, one shouldn't receive happiness from the misfortunes of others, but when it comes to Bud Adams team, especially when they are wearing Houston stolen unis....

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAadinfinity!!!!

Really, I guess a Patriots loss would have been good for the Texans, but really, that wasn't going to happen.

/hopes the Texans defense holds it together for the last week of the season.

You're thinking about the first game Pardee coached as an Oiler against Glanville's Falcons. After the Falcons blew out the Oilers Glanville made some stupid comment that it was a retalition for Pardee's Cougars running up the score against SMU.

IIRC they went 8-8, but they were 5-1 in the division. That 61-7 game didn't bother me as much as the loss to Pittsburgh in the playoffs.
