Muschamp has put together a consistently high performing unit. He is a real asset and I am ecstatic that it sounds like he's staying for a long time.

The Texas defense currently appears to be playing at a national championship level. The Texas offense, not so much. However, the play by the Texas offense was good enough to eek out a win against a good Oklahoma team.

If the Texas offense continues to improve over the last 6-7 games, I think the Longhorns will have a chance to win it all. If they do not, then Florida is looking like the odds on favorite.

As an aside, Arkansas leads Florida 10-3 at the half.

The game is on channel 11 for anyone who is interested.

I would get priapism if I saw Earl Thomas in a Texans uniform.
OK, while I was watching the game, I was thinking that of all the players on the field, Earl Thomas - FS - Texas, would be the best possible addition to the Texan's team. I was thinking how excited I would be if the Texans drafted him. So, as far as that goes, I agree with you completely.

But priapism is a term that I was previously unacquainted with. I had to look that one up.

Priapism - continuous, usually nonsexual erection of the penis

Thank you for teaching me a new word. However, after reviewing the definition of this term, I have to concede that I will probably not be able to match your level of enthusiasm over the acquisition of this player, if the Texans are so fortunate as to sign him.

:)

Who would you rank #3 then?
good question as with the exception of Alabama and Florida (game today notwithstanding), it seems to be a season of everyone stumbling along barely missing being upset.

but based on the games I've seen, I like Virginia Tech and Miami as better football teams, but with their loss, they shouldn't be ranked above Texas.

all in all, an ugly college football season so far.

So Texas isn't the 3rd best team in the nation, but they should be ranked #3? Is that what you're saying?

Like it or not all Texas has to do to be in the national championship game is win out. Alabama & Florida would have to play for the SEC championship. So one of them has to lose. The only possible team that could get in their way would be Cincinnati, and the only ranked opponent they face all year is South Florida.

Florida just squeezed out a 23-20 victory over Arkansas in the swamp. In fact, Arkansas should have won that game. Florida did not look like an invincible team, or like they have a mortal lock on the top spot in the polls at all.

Alabama plays at 7 PM on ESPN.

I have liked Thomas for awhile now and he is a possible 2nd round pick for the Texans unless they trade up for a different safety

I wouldn't mind Thomas, but I want Eric Berry. I love watching that guy play. I think he's worth trading up to get (maybe sign Dunta and include him in the deal?)

Really all I want is for us to get at least a #1 corner and a FS next offseason (I would get three secondary starters myself -- Reeves is the only guy we have that deserves a starting role in any capacity, pathetic as that is). They can go through FA or do it with day 1 picks, I don't care. But we need an overhaul in our secondary. I am now completely convinced that FS is our most glaring hole. I can understand Smith choosing to fill other needs the last three offseasons, but no more excuses in my book. Do what you gotta do to get long term solutions in our backfield.

I can't wait to see Kindle in the NFL myself. That guy is a beast. He is always in the backfield.

I just got back from the game earlier today. It was crazy. Probably the most intense experience I've ever had.

Both of these teams have incredible defenses. I think these two units should be in everybody's list of top five defenses in the country.

At this point, I think Texas could beat any team in the country besides Alabama. Their D can keep them in the game against anybody.

P,S. - I warned y'all about Earl Thomas a few weeks ago. The kid is going to be an All American. I see that some of y'all are ready to get on the bandwagon with me.

I disagree about Alabama beating anybody, as their QB isnt that good and I think Tennessee will beat them.

I think McElroy is only as good as they need him to be. He is a game manager and as long as the rest of the team shows up to play he will never be asked to win the game.

Colt McCoy>Greg McElroy. Texas could beat Bama

UT's defense is pretty good, but they'll need every ounce of it to compete with any of the top SEC teams. OU is dead in the water & if i'm sam bradford i seriously think about shutting it down if i'm not forced to do it.

If i were Bradford id be shedding a tear for every dollar i lost by not coming out last year. What a loss.

Bradford is going to some specialist in the new few days for an opinion on his shoulder injury. Odds are he will need surgery which will end his season. Too bad..I don't like OU but I think the kid has alot of talent. Hate to see players his caliber get hurt like that.

He either shuts it down this year & comes out hoping to get picked inside of the top 10, or he shuts it down this year & comes back next year, takes a couple of good licks & puts up great stats to show pro scouts that he's fully over the shoulder injury & try to get his stock better. It's risky but....

I suspect with the injury situation he'll come back for his senior year.

I think he'll be a very good pro QB. Smart. Athletic.

Oh well that settles it. I forgot that QB play is the only thing that matters in football.

Let's just forget that Colt has a TD:INT ratio of 11-7 while McElroy's is 9-3. Not to mention that McElroy has faced tougher defenses so far.

Alabama has a better offensive line and one of the best RBs in the nation. We can't say the same.

I didn't mean to imply that under no circumstances could we beat Alabama. I meant to imply that head to head on a neutral field, I would be comfortable playing anyone but Bama. They are the only team I am afraid of at this point.
