New Sixth Sense...blah blah blah

Huge segment on Carr and Johnson gelling as they have grown another year together....although it would make sense...Its not the Texans real style of play...so is this a lot of over blown hype and hoopla?? or will we finally see what this deadly combination is capable??

What do you all think?

geez u act like they have been playing together forever or something. it usually takes qbs and wrs 3 to 4 years to get the feel of eachother before they have good chemistry. they are getting there slowly but surely.

Thats not what i said....I would agree that the progression should come along and we all would expect it to be there this year...my point was that Capres and palmers games isnt through the air...and if it is...we have yet to see it...the Texans are more of a running team and try to control the clock that way...so I not so sure that we will see the air attack they way they would have us believe in that segment was all i was saying.

Actually they never said that we were going to have an "air it out" offense, they just said that AJ and DC are getting the connection that the great QB/WR duos have. With our offense, and with DC looking for AJ all the time, our other WRs are prob not gonna see a whole lot of balls thrown their way. Of course, they will get some catches when AJ is doubled, but i still think they will suffer.

I still think we are going to dump off to DD more than air it out to AJ...its just more like capers style of ball to play out a game that way...and with these new timing routes and quicker releases....how often are we going to throw down field??? either way I hope one of our wr progress into our #2 and unseats bradford and I hope DD can stay healthy this whole season to show what kind of damage he can do with an entire season of playing.

I don't think that just because DC and AJ are "gelling together" means that we are going to go all out and have an arial attack every game, ever quarter. I do think that it means that they have more trust with each other, and that the chemistry between the two is developing. With that, I think we will see more balls thrown that we might not have in the past, and more balls caught that wouldn't have been.

I never said we were gonna throw bombs to AJ, just that AJ will get the ball ALOT more than any other reciever. Im glad we are going to shorter passes to get the ball out of Carr's hands. That will (hopefully) mean less sacks. Also, with AJ's atleticism, he can take a quick slant and go 15-20 yards with it.

This is what I am hoping too. I'd like to see one of the younger receivers take over Bradford...All that would show is a higher level of competition, and that we are upgrading!

I believe this means that (Grandiose Statement): David carr will have over 3,000 Passing Yards and Andre Johnson will go to the pro bowl.

How do you like THEM APPLES? :boxing:

Huh?

Yet another imaginary dragon to be slain.

AJ was targetted (ball actually thrown toward) 138 times last year. Don't have a target source for DD but his completion % was near 90% so he was targetted about 75 times. Just on that you could say the offense was almost twice as geared to getting the ball through the air to AJ than DD. BUT, in fact only about 10 (if that, at one point last year Carr said none of the dump passes to DD had been the initial play) of the passes to DD were anything but safety valve options on plays designed to go to the WR's. The passing game last year was clearly meant to get the ball to AJ rather than DD. What would you have Capers do?--tell Carr don't dump to DD, instead (a) take a sack, (b) throw it away or (c) force the ball to a WR you don't think is open?
