Antoine Caldwell

Kimmy

RealGirls LvFB!
Came into my store today (I work in wireless off Kirby), he is VERY big and very nice.

One of my customers asked him if he was going to start with Myers out, he didn't give a direct answer, just smiled and said he doesn't want any injuries on the team.

He is the biggest, tallest Center we have. Such a critical position, if Chris can't make it, who goes in?

Probably Chris White but I'm hoping that Antoine shows enough to take that spot.

I had my hat signed by Caldwell at All-Access. I told him that he had a future here annd he was going to upsurp Meyers. He said nah nah. He's just glad to be here and he was going to do the best he can. I said I'm SERIOUS. Right there... he had a twinkle in his eye that I'll never forget. It was when I knew he came to play some serious NFL football.

Antoine Caldwell. FTW.

He had that same twinkle tonight. He's been in the store a few times (there are a lot of players that come in). We usually don't say anything to them, but if a customer does, we lean in .. hard :smiliedance:

I have been saying it since we drafted him - Caldwell will take that job early this season. The coaches will not be able to keep him off the field.

Woo hooo!!

Hate to see Brisiel get hurt, but we finally get a 1st Team ALL SEC
lineman on the field!!! He's guaranteed to get 1 inch of push next to Eric
Winston!

I dunno, I would have thought a 3rd rounder with all the hype some fans gave him would have been able to beat out a 2nd stringer by now. I'm hopeful he does well...

There was a third rounder the coaches were nervous about playing and didn't start the first couple games last year, and we all know how that turned out!!!!!

Would you not agree that RB has greater success/bust ratio than a guard? I don't think coaches were nervous about Caldwell. He simply did not beat out the guys ahead of him.

Molden couldn't get past Bennett and no-look Reeves!
Moulden has had injuries. Bennett looked good until this season when he fell apart. Reeves was the best CB last season and based on his play first game back will be again this year.

Why would he be playing on ST if he was injured?

Didn't he make quite a few good tackles on ST?

If he can run that fast to make those ST tackles, he should be healthy enough to play on defense, I would think.
.....

BTW, I was talking about last year, not this year.
I know Molden is injured this year.

I respectfully disagree. Straight ahead speed to make a downfield tackle does not equal skills needed to play corner. I am not defending Molden who has been a major disappointment to me.

My point was that Molden was picked 10 slots earlier than Slaton, but couldn't play on defense because obviously, the coaches didn't think he was good enough, not because he was injured.

I wouldn't give up on Molden just yet some cats are just late bloomers, but yes it has been dissapointing to date :mcnugget:

I think it says something when our sixth and seventh picks have already accomplished more at CB than our second pick from last year.

I have high hopes for Molden, but being consistently injured is devaluing him.

Coming out of a small school already puts you at a disadvantage. The fact that he has been plagued by injuries hasn't helped either. He has the measurables, but I am sure there are a lot of things technique wise he needs to improve tremendously before he gets on as a DB.

Good athletes can excel at special teams, but performance on special teams don't always translate into the other phases of the game.

Nothing wrong with having a great special teams player, but it sucks when it turns out you lost a high draft pick for nothing more than a ST contributor.

See JJ on ST to WR, great returner, but not so great of a WR although he has been playing pretty well this year when given the chance.

I wish someone would ask Kubiack what it is that has kept Caldwell of the feild up until now. I guess we will see this Sunday.

I know I was against drafting him because he didnt look good in the open feild. He seemed to reach alot and always seemed off balandce because of it. He did however pass block (Really good anchor) well and seemd to get a good push in the run game in short yardage situations. That was my impression of him anyway.

I didn't think much of Duane Brown last year. I thought Kubiak was just trying to keep his confidence up when he "pined" about how good Brown was doing. Then we see him this season, & now I can see what Kubiak was saying. I honestly think Kubiak would have started Studdard last year, if it weren't for Chester's streak. Now that is over, I doubt he'll play another down as a Texan.

Kubiak can now start his guys, and we can start running his system.

He still has his ol' vet anchoring the line. That won't change this season. Next season, with two years starting experience from Winston & Brown.... and the rest of this season for Studdard & White... Myers will be a back up.

I thought White played better at Center than at Guard... I think Cadwell needs to be next to Brown... the left side of this line would be dominate.

I'm not high on Winston, but I would put Studdard on the right side. IF I were king, Studdard would move to the right side this year, and Caldwell would be thrown in at LG.
