I was just listening to sports radio 610, and the espn update said that inside sources say the Texans and Cowboys are in negotiations for the trade that would involve Antonio Bryant for Jonathan Wells. They said that he was the type of back that Parcells likes. Decent speed and a load to bring down. he would probably be more of a change of pace back behind Julius Jones. If this isnt just speculation, i say pull the trigger now! Forget Bryant's attittude problems, if any coach can fix them, Dom Capers can. Holla back with the feedback! :jam: :headbang: :jam:
 
I'm not sure I'm really for that trade... while ability wise it may be good in our favor, I still dont like Bryants attitude and more importantly he will take away from Gaffney and Bradfords production and i feel that both of them should be much more productive this year.
 
Bryant would be our no.2 receiver easily and he's a deep threat. I like the move if it happens specially if all we're giving up in Jonathan Wells.

:confused: I have read so much about the Texans classy organization and the pride in the behavior of the management and team, with very few exceptions which is commendable. Now I am reading posts that many appear to be excited about taking a player who has demonstrated attitude challenges and becoming so enraged that he was close to assaulting the head coach of him team.

I'm not complaining and really neutral on whether Bryant stays with the Cowboys or is traded. I'm just surprised that at the number of people who seem to embrace a player who has been previously discounted as being a crackboy, classless, and a list of other undesirable names. :twocents: following much confusion.
 
I dont want him. I don't like his attitude and like said before, he'll hurt Gaffney and Bradford in the long run. I'll leave it to the Texans orginaztation, they are the professinals.
 
If he had Randy Moss or Terrell Owens type talent then this would be a no brainer

The flip side of this argument is that he is on a rookie contract so he doesn't come with a Moss or Owens type contract to anchor the team if it doesn't work out.

Jabar Gaffney will be a star one day, this would be his rookie season if he played out his college eligibility...

If all we have to do is give up Wells, do it. Try covering this: AJ, Gaff, Bradford, and Bryant. With DD and Hollings. That will be unstopable, you have a dime corner covering Bryant and his speed. 4 WR sets all game long and we are playoff bound....

Dont forget that Bradford is also in the last year of his contract and Bryant will be insurance in case Bradford leaves....
 
Bryant is a talent. He has an attitude problem that holds him back. IMO he is better than any WR we have except AJ. The question is whether we want the baggage that comes along with his talent. I'm 50/50 on it myself.
 
Has anyone else even heard this? I tend to doubt the veracity of the report. I can't find anything on it, but if it is true, I'd jump all over it. True, Bryant is a prick of the highest order, but, since we give up only Wells, the bottom line is that we don't have much invested. Who knows, maybe he turns it around here. If not, we dump him after the year for a low round draft choice. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, but I think he has clear #2 talent. It's his head that has rocks in it.
 
I say go for it, if it makes our teams better, why not? And I think Parcells is a dang good coach, but some players can't be coached like that, but I really like the way Capers coaches he is stearn but it seems that the players respect him and his ways. So I think that Bryant and coach capers would be a good fit, hopefully! :shrug:
 
I think the real question is: "Will Bryant 'GET IT' now that he messed up in Dallas?" Some players get that they are on a slippery slope and that if they don't change, they'll slide out of the league. Others just try the same old BS that got them in trouble with the first team.

The Texans' passed on him once, but if they feel that all he needs is a change in scene, they may experiment in an attempt to upgrade. They are obligated to do this at almost every position, although I like their receivers. I think that Johnson, Gaffney, Bradford, Armstrong, et al will benefit from Carr's additional experience and an improved line and give the fans a lot to cheer about.
 
i like the trade idea but does it really have any legs to stand on? i havent heard or read anything about a possible trade with dallas all day.
 
Perhaps Bryant would benefit from the positive attitudes on this team, if he were to be traded here. I'll hope that the change of scenery could help. (It worked for Carl Everett and the Astros.) Like fball said, not all players respond to Parcells type coaching.
 
Earler it was mentioned that we already have a great WR corps...I was curious as to what receivers they were referring to?? AJ is awesome and will be great. Gaff is up and coming and hopefully with some improvement he will be a star also...but Bradford?? Stonehands?? you have to be kidding me...Bryant is way better than Bradford. Im not sure who would get the 2 spot Gaff or Bryant...probably Bryant because of his speed but AJ, Bryant, and Gaff would give defenses nightmares...who in the world would you double up?? And like someone has already mentioned...if we go with a 4 WR set...forget about it..thats just way too much speed to try and cover along with great backs coming out of the backfield. Dont forget that we have some pretty good tightends too...thats just way too many offensive weapons to worry about if your the opposing defensive coordinator.
 
Attitudes and Egos are almost impossible to avoid in the NFL. We are gonna get some bad apples.. (isnt Kendrick Starling supposed to be like Randy Moss, but without the skills?) We have us a team right now that is filled to the brim with good people.. If these trouble makers cant come here and change their tune, they wont change anywhere. My point is.. we have a solid core of upstanding people.. now we can afford to bring in some of these people with bad attitudes.. cause they are going to be woefully outnumbered and will either change, or get the boot.

That being said.. it SOUNDS like a good trade.. but is that really the whole story? i have a hard time beleiving it. Wells has given no indication that he is a quality player.. yah he has the build.. but so do a million other guys. I think that there has to be more to it than just a straight up trade.. and if we have to give up more than Wells, I dont know. We have a pretty good receiving corp as it is.. and I look forward to seeing what Carr and company can do when he has the same people around him for 2 straight years.
 
Bradford isnt the best receiver in the league.. but he IS good. he is a deep threat that cant be ignored.. he stretches the defense even if he doesnt catch the ball. And honestly, he has been fairly reliable lately.

Besides that.. there was an article on him a while ago.. he is really buffing up and getting ready for this season.. he knows this is his contract year and wants to show that he is a great player. So, this could be a really good year for him.

It wasnt just a problem with Parcells. Bryant had an attitude problem in college back in Pittsburgh from everything i've read. If he hasnt changed after all these years, I doubt he will now. Bradford and Gaffney never even had much of a chance last year since if AJ wasnt open, it went to DD anyhow. And dont give that crap about Bradford having stone hands... he only dropped ONE freakin ball last season, no matter what you think you remember.
 
I'm not a huge Bradford fan by any means, but he's been working hard on improving and has a good attitude. I'd take that over an underachieving #2 receiver at best with a bad attitude... who by the way dropped TEN passes last year.
 
if we take him we aint got much to lose.. we already have our receivers.. and bryant is young and has an attitude.. so bench him. Let him run back some kickoffs and play some special teams. put him out on the field when he learns not to run his mouth. or hold unto him and trade him for a 4th or 5th rounder to someone who really needs the help at receiver.
 
I have to say that I vote no on the possible trade. I like the looks of our WRs as they stand, and we would need to shop for a jobber RB to replace Wells. I agree that Bryant has some great talent...but I don't like the price of potentially screwing up our offensive chemistry.
 
Done deal in a heart beat, if it is wells for Bryant. If it involes any draft picks that would not be something I would want to do. :twocents:
 
Was this Jeremy Foster Sports Flash babble or is it credible? I was out of town all day and didn't hear any local stuff. I've got Fox 26 on now and will wait to see what Berman says. I have a hard time believing this (a straight up deal at least) would be true. It's possible that Wells might not even make the 53 this year.

No Berman tonight but Matt Sampsell said nothing about it.
 
It is interesting that no recent trade talks about Bryant's has been mentioned on the Silver Star. Anything is possible, but seems a bit unusual that there hasn't been any rumors or speculations to surface on one of the Cowboys most popular MB's.
 
Not that this means anything but I did find one report that Bryant is working out with the team again. So apparently he isn't holding out or the coaches aren't banning him from team activities.
 
Rumors are kinda like opinions and we all know about those....Bryant has attitude but he also has ability. Maybe a change will correct the attitude?
 
I think above all we need to find more of a link than anything.

I agree that Bryant adds some issues. BUT... his issues are not off the field type issues. Its more a desire to want to play and get minutes and plays. NOT to say that he wouldn't be a malcontent, but he isn't coming here with drug issues, with off the field legal issues etc. He got into a fight with parcells over plays being run for him and playing time. IF we were able to get him it would give us 4 strong wideouts in Johnson, Gaffney, Bradford, and Bryant. Injuries etc. Its worth it when we typically go to our 4th wide out more than our 3rd RB.

I'm all for it, but i want proof somewhere.
 
I think the addition of Bryant and getting rid of Wells would mean a better understanding of what JJ Moses value to the team is. We pretty much would have one less ST player which would mean Moses could stay if Bryant is not used on ST.
 
No 1 this guy has a reputation that goes all the way back to college. Which would mean for YEARS he's been a mental case.

No 2 the original post said it was a 610 news item or ESPN news item that was broadcast on ESPN. I'm not sure there is a link.

No 3 the incident occured at a practice. During the off-season. So he gets mad because they aren't running plays for him during a June practice?

No 4 there has been no mention of it in the Chronicle that I know of or anything in the Dallas Morning News.

No 5 Bill Parcells is probably the hardest coach in the NFL as far as being a hard*** toward his players. He's got the reputation of being really tough on them. So the odds would seem to be that if he can't handle Bryant Coach Capers would have similar problems.

The trade may happen. I'm not in their office to say it will or won't. Just don't be surprised IF it happens that the guy gets here and causes trouble. He's bringing his head with him. And therein lies the problem. He's a head case.
