Texans-Cardinals Week 5 preview

Air Canada

Waterboy
Yeah, nice win against Oakland, but I'm already ready to move on to the next match-up... let's get it started.......

How will our young secondary fair up aganist the Vontent Cards Offensive ... i for one think they will get blazed Up ...but i hope that does not happen

if the colts can take it to the cards tho i dont see why we cant either

Lets just go into the game and hope the Same ol cards show up agian the cards that have sucked for 30 years .....

That's what I think...I like our chances of blazing them ourselves...:kingkong:

I'm saying our offense is capable of exploiting the same weaknesses in that secondary Indy did.

Of course, but the fact they got pressure over him for the majority of the game is a huge part of what are defense did....the D will get better, the Cards don't run much even when they should...
Yeah, it'll be better effort from them cuz they can score TDs...but I don't think it's a mismatch for us. I think Mario can really effect this game, he should eat Mike Gandy alive and thus demand attention...The Colts didn't shut down Fitz or Boldin, they shut down Kurt and dominated the ball...

When they are inconsistent that team can look as bad as when we are...really..I think it should be a good game..

All I know is our corners better eat their wheaties this week, they'll be on the field all day next Sunday

I think we have a shot at beating the Cards.

Essentially, they're finesse team that runs the same defense as we do; which is weak to strong running teams.

If we can:
- punch them in the mouth early and often (the way we played the Titans)
- get a strong pass rush up the middle (Warner likes to step up in the pocket and doesn't like to move side to side
- run the ball & keep their high flying offense off the field

We have a shot.

It may sound crazy, but we could really use Ron Dayne next week.

:fans:

yes we need the 3 headed bull RUSH !!!big time next week IMO

a heavy dose of

SLaton
Moats
Brown

is the Key to beating the cards bassically follow the same game plan San fransisco used we got 2 Bussim in da MaFF !!!!! :texflag:

I agree...I actually think we have as much a shot as they do to pull this one out, they better be prepared and not underestimate this offense cuz if they come out like they did against Indy..we will light up that secondary...regardless I think we will:texflag:

Texans standings after this game, 3-2.

Yeah, no if's, and's, or but's about it! Cards come get it! This is what Andre's gonna do to y'all :roast:...lol..The Super Bowl losers seem to always struggle the following season...been like that almost the entire decade...

The Texans can't get pressure with the front four. Warner is one of the better QBs at reading the blitz. Our secondary can't cover anyone, even the Raiders. Boldin and Fitz don't drop passes like the Raiders.

Texans might win, but I don't see how the Cards' offense will be held down at all.

I disagree..I think we can get pressure on Warner up front... Mario should have an advantage as I believe he'll be matched up with Gandy...I don't think we shut them down, of course not, but I think we can get some stops and our offense can put up some points this week to win. We will be chucking it all over the yard...:kingkong:

We won't be worrying about stopping the run too much. This will be the first team where we can just put forth more focus on defending the pass. We faced four teams that have had strong rushing teams. Tim Hightower? About ten teams have two running backs with more yards than Tim Hightower. He really is bad. This is the game where we're really going to miss Jacques Reeves.

Warner isn't really what I would call 'the better QBs' at reading the blitz. He's been sacked 7 times this season, one less than Schaub. Right around the middle of the league so I'd call him somewhat average there. Especially considering that he's 38 years old now.

Actually, the Texans got pressure with their front 4 a fair amount of times today. And, yes, the Cardinal receivers do drop the ball sometimes. Boldin has struggled with the drops the past season. The Cardinals have a mediocre offensive line, a poor running game, an erratic defense, and a dynamic passing attack. We can beat them. But, I'd be foolish to be confident that we'd win... I already tried that with the Jets and the Jags.

Man, get this thread off the main page! I don't want to think about no stinking birds. They are our evil twin: stronger, smarter, and sexier than us in every way. They do everything we do except better. Next week is going to be spanking time. And we ain't daddy.

:chickendance:Don't be surprised to see if we match-up well with them...especially against their defense....they can be just as inconsistent as us man calm down...

Exactly, I feel pretty good about us being able to get pressure up front against there O line and controlling the ball on offense....that's been the key to beating the past couple seasons to beat them...

Whatever happens in Arizona, rest assured they will NOT be the pushovers Oakland was. This game will be a tough one. I think this is a good game to find out who these Texans really are.

We have yet to prove any ability to stop, or for that matter, slow down a good passing offense. It's good to have nailed up a win against the Raiders. But let's not get giddy and forget who this win came against...........the Raiders.......a team that has forever not sniffed a playoff game.......for good reason.

Mostly I just hope we have enough players to suit out after the swine flu gets finished with us :/

Why don't Texans' players get flu shots to prevent from wide spread?
We do have an official hospital for the Texans right? Methodist hospital?

Go Texans!!!

Personally, I think this game might get ugly for our secondary. The Fitz, Bolden and Breaston against our DB's? Good grief!

Our only hope is the D line and LBs get enough pressure on their QB to force bad throws. If they don't, it's gonna be a very long game for the Texans.

Of course another angle is we suddenly find our running game and dominate the time of possession and keep their offense off the field.

Like I said, we are gonna find out here real quick who the Texans really are.

Come on...don't forgot our passing game...Andre, Kevin, and OD against there secondary and the way they have been strugglin...I saw what Clark and Wayne did to them and I gotta believe Andre is lickin his chops to get some of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie...

That would be nice. The Cards have Darnell Docket, who's one of my favorite DT's in the league. The dude's a beast and will give our weak interior a beating if we don't game plan for this dude.

Dont forget JACOBE!!!!!! i think he will step it up once again in the pass game against the cardinals

I have no idea if we can win this game or not. It all depends on which defense shows up. I don't even know who their running back is but I'm willing to bet he could go for 100 yards if we decide to go back to not playing disciplined.

Our offense SHOULD roll their defense but with Slaton being about as opposite as you can get from one season to the next I'm not as confident.

If they stop us in the 2nd quarter we are screwed bad...to me so far this season we are only putting up points in the second quarter...titians game 17 out of the 34 points in the 2nd quarter, jags game 14 points out of the 24 points in the 2nd quarter, raiders game 17 points out of the 29 scored...is this a trend i see that will continue? or am i just looking to much into it?

Yeah, ur really looking too much into that... Come on man, that thinking doesn't make much sense...Your saying that we will only put up points in the 2nd qtr based off that for our future games? You know you could probaly look at a lot of teams and see quarters where they really score more than others quarters they don't in games....Regardless, the fact is our O has played well for the most part since week 1.

This is definitely a winnable game, although also definitely not easy. When you look and consider that 4 out of the next 5 games are on the road, and the home game is a tough one vs. San Francisco, this one needs to go in the "W" column.

Right now, it's a little bit tough to figure out the Cards. A 1-2 start with two home losses that were both bad offensive games may not tell the tale of their season (although it might), but it tells you if we're really serious a winning season and a playoff berth, you find a way to win this game. Pretty, ugly, it doesn't matter how, but I think it's as close to a must-win game as week 5 can be.

Especially when you look at how Jville is playing @ Seattle and St. Louis @ home the next two weeks.

Yea i had a feeling that i was but what can i say im a math major and just looking at the numbers...ill beat once again a majority of our points comes in the 2nd quarter

With all the talk about who's the best WR in the league, I'm really interested to see if AJ comes out on a mission to show up Larry Fitzgerald.

Maybe, but that's really just overanalyzing...It doesn't matter what qtr they put up the majority of their points but that they score when they need to.:spin:..Also it's not like in those games it's an overwhelming amount just in 2nd qtr. and not in the rest of the game... Also in the Raiders game we stopped trying to score as much and just started working out our running game...Don't worry about it that much.

We will be in nickel package almost the entire game, we haven't shown a consisten pass rush all year. If warner has 5 seconds to throw the ball we are going to be in trouble.

Our best pass rush comes off the ends, as already mentioned Warner isn't going to run off on us he's going to shuffle left/right, and step up. I'm more nervou about playing a passing team than I am about a running team, cause basically we have almost 0 pass rush consistently.

Trust me im not worrying about just being in math everyday i find small stats like that very intresting and like to see if it continues or not...dont get me wrong i believe we are gonna kick names and take asses sunday...

The last two games we haven't done jack in the second half, now the last game it's obvious that Kubiak threw out anything in the playbook that didn't consist of a handoff. We can't impose our will on a team and just run the ball and that's a problem when you need to be able to put away a team.

We are going into this game with the the weakest part of our offense and defense we need to execute on to have a good winning shot at this game.

offensively - we need to run the ball and control the clock (not our strong point)
defensively - we need to get some major pass rush and make it a rough day for Kurt Warner (not our strong point)

Yah this could be ugly.

I see, but I disagree on Warner, he likes to step up, but has shown when he gets pressure coming off the edges he breaks down, runs off and tends to make mistakes of course on the move...Mario is continuing to play more aggressive to me and I think he'll have a favorable matchup in the O line.:fans:

U can see by the Cards 2 losses what the theme is and what we must do to beat them....

It's pretty clear, pressure Warner and limit his ability to find his guys for those big plays; exploit there secondary with our WRs and control the ball..:fans:
