Big Play Artists?

Cut and Dry
Just checked the NFL website, pretty interesting stats:

Matt Schaub HOU

4th in yards per throw

2nd in passes of 20+

1st (tied with Romo & Manning) in passes of 40+

5th in passer rating

4th in yards per game

I love the big play, the anticipation of a lofted deep ball, not knowing when the camera finally pans over whether AJ has beaten the coverage deep. Just damn exciting.

I dont know how we do it, but when Schaub unleashes the deep ball its rarely into coverage. We somehow get people WIDE open 20+ yards down the field at least a few times per game. Much more than I remember in the past

Yeah but the Houston Texans are 9th in the NFL for total passing. The Cowgirls are 12th there. Making the big play is good and dandy but I'd rather be playing consistent ball than leading the league with hail marys.

We're tied for 3rd with yards per throw and I do like that statistic right there. I absolutely love the 8-3 TD/INT ratio!

Part of that is how effective our play action is, which is wierd because we can't run for ****. Another half is that our WRs are just getting better and better as route runners. AJ is one of the elite route runners in the league at this point, right up there with Wayne, though I probably give Wayne a slight edge there.

The last part is how well designed some of these plays are.

It's that slant route.

I don't really think he throws it all that deep. We've got some playmakers on our receiving corps more than anything else. Although... throwing the 15-25 yard passes, I think Schaub just might be one of the best in the NFL.

I think we are doing alright in the consistency category, could use a little improvement, but the big play makes you dangerous.

Also the Cowboys didn't play the Jets, it would be a very different story if they did.

Even the Saints had a tough time with them.

Anybody else notice that he usually on the deep ball underthrows it a little bit rather than take a chance and hit the recieiver in stride? AJ would have had a TD on that one otherwise. Not complaining just saying.

Yeah, I think Wayne is the best route runner in the league, but Andre is the most explosive....Man, wouldn't that be a deadly combo? We do have damn good one though as is :smiliedance:

He threw that one a little under because there was going to be safety help over the top. I think Schaub wanted the ball right where he put it

Schaub's playaction fake has to be registered as a deadly weapon in 13 states and the District of Columbia.

Schaub definitely should've put about 5 more yards on that toss, AJ had to slow down to catch it and probably would've beat the safety in a footrace.

Oh well. I'm not complaining. Schaub's a real Qb.

Curious to see the rankings of the teams that have played the Jets to see if their numbers might be lower than expected so far through 4 games, sice the Jets have pretty much made all 4 QBs look less than stellar.

I just did some research because I thought we were better than the number 13 ranked offense in terms of PPG as the NFL has us listed. Going back and deducting the Jets from the equation, results in us having:

28.333 ppg good for 5th place in the league.

Naturally we played them so you can't subtract it out and call it where we should be, be just an idea of how effective the jets have been on D:

They are making teams average 16 point less than per game
