I saw him leave the field. Him along with another player but could not make out the numbers on his jersey. I think they're all sicker than they want to let on but that's just a guess.

That wasn't a pooch kick. There were several pooch kicks during the course of the game. That wasn't one of them.
Yes, the Texans need to dump a player who has scored in 3 consecutive games. Because they have so many other playmakers. Right. Jacoby Jones is not a perfect football player. He doesn't play for a perfect football team. But, Jones does have skills that this team needs. He needs to see the ball more. Not less.

Absolutely the Texans need to dump Jacoby Jones. I have not seen the skills that you speak of. I only see skills that would garner praise on the Ringling Brothers Juggling Squad. Jacoby Jones is fast but that's not really a skill that I'd be giving him high praise for. Catch the ball THEN run. Not catch and run. He will not change. It's been 3 seasons.
No. A pooch kick is a short line drive kick, used to keep the returning team from allowing it's best return man to touch the ball. Both teams utilized the strategy, today. The Raiders had a free kick to the Texans following the safety. Meaning they had the option of teeing the ball up, or not. The Raiders choose to have the punter take the the kick, and he out kicked his coverage.
Jones is more than just fast. In fact, I don't think his straight 40 time is eye-popping. What he has is explosiveness and an innate vision.

I really don't agree with you on Jacoby Jones.
JJ is 22nd in the NFL on punt returns with an 8.7 avg. 15 players have an average in double digits. He also leads the league in fair catches. Today, I was bewildered to see that he had called a fair catch when there was nobody unblocked in sight. In addition, he's had 7 fumbles as opposed to his 5 total TDs. 2 each as a WR and PR and his TD today as a KR. I'm not even counting the ridiculous fumble (that was correctly although stupidly ruled not a fumble) two weeks ago! I don't even want to get into the drops he's had as a WR.
He's doing fairly well as a kick returner this year but he still needs to take it to the next level and get more 40+ yard gains. He has only had the one today thus far.
More fumbles than TDs? After 3 years? Consider the experiment over on my end. I want him off the team.

jacoby and slaton were the only people that scored today. Jacoby and Slaton are the only people who Nitro wants off the team today. You would think he would take issue with the other 50 people on the roster that didnt score touchdowns today, but no.

His vision is good, I agree. It's best when he's fielding the punt at midfield for some reason.
The Raiders DID outkick their coverage. As soon as I saw how far that ball was traveling, I was like "Ah hell, he's gonna' take this one to the house."
Some team is going to figure out the squib kicks are the weapon to use against Jacoby. The dozens of little bounces the ball takes, and the way it changes direction and makes Jacoby have to judge how to catch it, will make him freeze up on his ability to see those lanes of opportunities.
Just booming it to JJ is not a good plan. It was the worst option to pick, IMO.
And unlike today, JJ seems to do better when he's running hard toward the ball, trying to get under it, and then not stopping once he catches the ball. Sort of like being a receiver and catching a pass.
But you make the guy stand still, in traffic, and he's a basket case.

What the Raiders did was called a Free Kick, they cannot use a tee. The punter for the Raiders over kicked the coverage, plan and simple.
And I am glad you are not the GM. Jones is a space cadet, but he is talented.

I think you make a lot of good points Nitro. I've been on this same Jacoby Jones bash band wagon for a while now, and I'm not really off of it yet either. The guy is nuts for sure.
However, he has managed to have his 3rd straight game now where he has gotten into the end zone on a pass or PR. 3 straight games of finding the end zone in some capacity is something that's worth noting, and I can't say that I want him off the team anymore at this exact moment. I might change my decision tomorrow or next week, but he is finding a few ways to help the team by getting into the end zone other than those horrible fumbles.
We'll have to see how he does in the next few games. He scares the hell out of me every time he touches the ball though, that's for sure. I usually think something bad is going to happen rather than something good. Lets hope he improves.
