Beer Me
I can never sleep the night before a game and I am worried sick that the worst QB in the league is going to come in here and have a career day and everyone will laugh at us. We haven't won at home at all this season (including PS) and I am really getting sick of worrying about losing to a team like the Raiders and having players who have no business starting in the NFL coming into our house and winning games!

Last weekend I had a dream Kubiak got fired before the game against Jacksonville. It was weird...

Drives me CRAZY!

Practice Squad
No way the gayders beat the Texans. Jamarcus Russell is by far the worst 1st overall pick EVER. Their offensive line is in shambles to start out with and the D is pathetic. You guys will smoke em tomorrow.

everytime I see that statement - and I've seen it a lot lately - I think, 'but what about Alex Smith or Ki-Jana Carter?'

I could be angry at this point, but I choose to enjoy the enigma inside the paradox wrapped in schaudenfraude that is our Texans. Sure, I might get a little worked up during the games (if I think they can win), but to be able to look at the whole picture and laugh a little probably does good things for my health.

To defend Ki-Jana he got hurt badly before he could really even play. I wouldn't necessarily call him a bust, but label him a big time misfortune for the Bengals.

That would be like calling Ernie Davis a bust... (God that hurts just typing it...)

Ryan Leaf has to be the worst in a runaway contest.
Ryan Leaf was picked 2nd overall, so he really doesn't count in this conversation.

I don't really agree with you on Ki-Jana Carter. He had a couple healthy seasons yet was extremely ineffective. He barely made the practice squad for the Packers a few years back.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is that I basically read that Penn State chuns out first round RBs who struggle in the NFL. System back is what comes to mind when thinking of this.

My bad on Ryan Leaf being selected #2. He's still the worst pick in NFL history by my count.

I disagree that Carter had a couple of healthy seasons. He had a couple of seasons where he played in most every game, but given the fact that he tore his ACL in the preseason of his rookie year, I don't think he was ever healthy as a pro.

I don't know what the recovery rate from ACL injuries was in 1995, but it had to be far lower than it is today.

Fair enough. I'll consider Carter a non-bust but an unfortunate injury victim. It happens.
And when I think of All-World Busts, Ryan Leaf is the poster child. That was the first name that popped into my mind but I had to remind myself he wasn't a "number-one-overall" pick.

The thing is that the Texans can't gain any respect by just winning this game, they are going to have to throttle the Raiders at home, otherwise it's just a yawner becuase we are at home (winless albiet) and playing a very bad team.
I understand your point thow, it's like the Astros playing against some rookie pitcher (just about any pitcher this year) in his first start...you can guarantee the Astros will get shut out.

you forgot david carr lol :user:
No I didn't. Not even HWWNBN is as bad as Alex Smith or Russell (to date).
Now he's not far down the All-Time Bust list but I think HWWNBN was more over-rated than a bust.
He should never have been first round pick, let alone the 1st overall pick of a new franchise.
Dammit, we should have been picking defensively...
[takes deep breath]
...don't get me started.

Had David Carr played against the Texans this year, he might be on a pro bowl ballot.

Prediction: We win today, but this game spawns some nice highlights for Russel, thus confussing the Raider folks even more on whether he has a chance in this league.

It will be a season-high day for Russell.

I predict lots of QB keepers against us.

Well I was wrong on this one. Way to step up Cushing, I mean Defense!

Prior injuries or not... ineffective is ineffective.
