Just wanted to get your guys thoughts on the titans wearing oilers uniforms. Now me personally i think its great, ive been an oiler/titan fan since i was born in 1985, and ive was born and still live in rochester, ny. i can understand 100% where u guys are coming from and hate the titans and bud adams, that your bussiness and not mine seen as how ive never lived in houston, but my point it is u dont have to have lived in texas or houston to be an old oilers fans, or titan fan in tennessee, so its good for us fans cause there are alot more than u know that lives outside the city where they play. its good for us old fans to see the jerseys again cuase in our hearts will always be the oilers even tho we play in tennessee, and ill give u this i wish we were still in houston but bud didtn move out of my home town so us fans up here couldnt be bitter, all im saying is u can be mad all u want about the move go ahead, but for them wearing the ui's, the titans are still the oilers as much as u wont admit it and its good for us fans out of our teams market to see them......telll me what u guys think about that.

To me it just seems odd, because they're not the same Oilers jerseys that most of us remember (well, Thorn maybe LOL), but most of us would be pissed if they went with the Oilers uni's that we know and love.

I just think it's pretty pathetic, personally. The Oilers players that never played in Tenn. have mostly shunned the Titans, which says a lot. Why would the fans there want to commemorate a team they had nothing to do with, especially when the former players want nothing to do with you? It just seems like a sad, pathetic gesture by Bud.

Whatever, though. The Oilers never did much besides break our hearts, so I don't miss 'em. Plus, even in my days as a rabid Oilers fan, I never liked that gay blue color.

As long as they are wearing the 60-61 uniforms I won't have a problem. Now if they wear the silver helmets of the late 60's or the white helmets of the late 70's I'll have a fit

The Titans aren't the Oilers, though. It might be the same franchise, but they aren't the same team, and don't even have the same market. The Oilers had 'Houston' in front of their name, and it seems silly to me to see Tennessee wearing any jersey on it that has 'Houston' on it. Their rivals. Why would you want to wear a jersey that has your rivals city on it?

Some of their shirts said "Property of Houston ...". I don't have a problem with that since the Texans have owned them the last 2 games.

What's that ya say Sonny? Speak up! Maybe I have to get in my warp powered wheel chair (with a picture of Capt. Kirk on the back) and chase yall around the damn old age home and beat you with a phaser.

Eh, let 'em wear the damn uniforms. The Oilers are gone, they don't exist, they have become the Titans. I know what the Oilers are in my mind, and that ain't the Titans. And nothing that Bud Adams, the NFL, or anybody else does can take my Oiler memories from me.

pretty much sums up my thoughts. it took me awhile, but I have a new team in my hometown, and even with its warts, it's still my team.

seems to me, the only one left with hard feelings over leaving Houston is Bud himself.

Bud Adams knows this, so he drags out the old Oilers uniforms to exploit the market accordingly.

You know I too need to cash in on this. I have a bunch of Oiler stuff I should be selling on ebay right now. I am sure there are some sucker Titans fans that would pony up for some of the items I have. For example I have a jacket I bought back in 1988. It's still in mint condition. I could sell it as a Titans throwback item.

actually this is a league wide deal....it's in honor of the AFL merger and all the original AFL teams are wearing throwbacks since this is an anniversary year.

yeah, I know. The league is familiar with the saying, without a doubt. Heck, we even have our own red versions of it in Houston. ;)

However, Bud took it step further a few years ago with "Luv Ya Blue" gear being sold on the Titans website. That old fart just couldn't wait. That was well before the AFL's 50th anniversary.

you all sound bitter but you have a right to in a way, but the thing is u dont have to live in a teams city to be as big of a fan as you guy cliam to be, second of all its not buds choice to wear them its the nfl, and 3rd of all ya ill buy your **** because im an oilers/titans fan have been my whole even tho i dont live in houston u cant take that from me. us titan fans that were oiler fans have been through it all too. a little before my time but my father loved bum and earl, i was around for the stagger lee play, through the house of pain, the run and shoot days, i was at the 93' comeback game vs the bills cuz i live in rrochester, ny, and we didnt want them to move but it happens and our oilers, and your oilers are the titans.......

I'm not sure what your objective is, but the titans are not the Oilers. You can say it as much as you want, but it'll never be true, dude. You don't live in Houston so it's obvious you haven't a clue of what this city went through due to your owner. Most, if not all of your buddys that were Oilers fans and are now titan fans probably are similar to you. Living in a different city or state saying you've been there through all of it. Pffft! You haven't been through jack, dude.

Again, what was your true objective starting a thread like this that has been beaten to death many times already. You like your titans in our old uniforms. Whoopty freakin doo!

Bitter? naaahhh

Cynical? yep

Look, you're free to root for whoever you choose to root for, but coming into a Houston football forum with this stuff is just inviting flames. It makes no sense (along with some of your post, no offense, just hard to read), and if you think some kind of "bonding" is going to occur, please don't hold your breathe waiting for it.

See, the difference between you and most of us is that you are loyal to a football team owner, whereas we are loyal to our hometown. It might be something that you just don't get, or get and don't care, whatever. But the Houston Oilers are history and now we have the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans. :ok:

we don't have to ask around...we see these weirdos walking amongst the humans from time to time. Most of them like to wear VY jerseys and tend to carry a sausage on a stick at all times.

"Child, please" Nobody cares about the titans here in Houston, dude.

Ask Bum and Earl if you can handle the truth.

Because you say so it must be true. :ok:

I met Elvis once when I was abducted by space aliens. Because I say so it must be true. :brando:

I'm not bitter. I was never a fan of the Oilers to began with. They left town before I even became a fan of football. Having said that I'm not going to call Tennessee the Oilers. The Oilers were from the City of Houston. The Titans are from Tennessee. It might be the same franchise, but it's not the same team. The City of Houston rooted for the Oilers for years. The team turned it's back on the City, changed their name, changed their colors, & moved to Tennessee. Any Texan still rooting for the Titans is rooting for a team that turned it's back on Houston. Doesn't seem 'Texan' to me to root for them. Of course I'm not from New York going for a team in Tennessee, either. I'm loyal to teams from the state of Texas.
