Sunday Afternoon: Texans Fans Put Kubiak On Notice

Is Sunday the first time Kubiak, as a coach, was booed? I tried to remember
other heartbreakers like "The Vince Young Game," or "The Rosencopter Game,"
I didn't remember a full house letting the team HAVE it like that.

Before Sunday, most of us were willing to let Kubes return in 2010. After THAT
performance, I think his seat was put on the burner. What do ya'll think?

I wanna see how the rest of the season goes b4 I say fire him, but I agree that Kubiaks seat should be flamingly hot to where the devil himself is panting just coming near the 610 loop.

Bob McNair needs to pull Kubiak in his office and verbally give him the equivalent of staying a night in jail with "Bubba" as your cell mate.

You know how when you are house training a puppy, you usually have to stick their nose in their own **** they dropped in the house a few times, then they straighten up? Well, I don't think McNair has doen that yet and he needs to. He needs to have videos of that game running as he smushes kubiaks face against the screen, using a "mean smile" and talking through his teeth telling him..."You see that, you gonna do that again? Huh? Are you!?!?!"

Kubiak should come out of that meeting walking funny and then proceed to pass that on to the whole locker room so when they all hit the field for practice, they may walk a little gingerly, but hot damn are they gonna hit someone!

But of course the reality is it will all be the normal ho-hum.....:bat:

Well iam sure Kubes excepts that SUnday is over its time to move on there is nothing kubes can do to change wk1 hIs only focus now is Tenn and winning

Has they say winning changes Everything

Losing just means bad things

i for one think the fans should be over this its Tuesday LOL

Well its a proven fact that organizations sometimes will follow the sentiment of the fans... does Kubiak have his own radio show still on Mondays? I wonder how that went...

I dunno, anyone think he could go 0-4 this month ? I don't necessarily expect that, but this time last week people would have laughed at that scenario, now I think not ?
And to take that scenario a step farther, if he were to go 0-4 would he make it into October or would Bob McNair name an interim HC (after firing Kubiak) to finish the 2009 season ?

It went like all the rest of them went. The guys on the show I know WANT to press him and ask tough questions, but they are kind of hamstrung and can't really take it to him, or they risk losing the contract with the Texans whenever it expires.

I know I've booed Kubiak several times in Reliant over the years and so have tons of fans when he'd make those blasphemous run play calls on 3rd and 11 or 3rd and 9 or crazy stuff like that where he was way conservative.

I don't think it's the first time Kubiak has been booed badly here in Houston but I do agree with you, if Kubiaks seat isn't on the burner, it should be. I hope that McNair had a "Come to Jesus meeting" with him and the whole coaching staff.

Jets need to beat NE and then Tennessee and Texans need to beat our next two teams & love will come back to Reliant. Titans would be 0-3 and Texans 2-1

I don't think that Mr. McNair will fire Kubiak mid-season, regardless of what happens. We could go 0-16 and I bet dollars to doughnuts he would wait to the end of the season.

You know, before last Sunday, I would have absolutely agreed with you. That would be totally out of character for him to do that. But given the reaction from last Sunday's performance, combined with McNair himself and his staff making comments how they had high expectations . . . I dunno.

But then you got to ask yourself . . if he did fire him midseason, his only choices would be Kyle Shanahan or Frank Bush. No way he could go outside the organization in the middle of the season. Just look at the history of other coaches being fired in the middle of the season. It's always someone inside who is given the job 'temporarily' until the end of the season.

So here's are the choices . . .

A) Keep Kubiak as the HC, no matter what.
B) Fire Kubiak, and make Frank Bush the HC
C) Fire Kubiak, and make Kyle Shanahan the HC
D) Fire Kubiak, and make John McClain the HC :)

Well he could make someone the interm head coach for the 09 season. Then go after the big fish.

I might get hammered for this, but here goes:

Frank Bush might be OK as interim coach. If his defense progresses this season, I got no problem with having a defensive-minded coach at the controls of this team for a remainder of this season.

There's a softness on this team. The "finesse" trick isn't working, IMO, after what I witnessed this past Sunday.

And it's looking more and more like Kubiak is a great offensive coordinator but not catching onto the head coach nuances that are needed in the NFL.

Who was it that was made interim coach last season, and then was made permanent after the team responded well? Was it Singletary?

Singletary had the more significant impact, but Cable (Raiders) accounted for 4 of their 5 wins. Although, he lost 8.

I don't think an interim head coach would have to be a coordinator. Coach Marciano could be the head coach. Or Ray Rhodes for that matter (he has experience). Shanahan and Bush have done nothing in this league that would be worthy of a promotion.

Having said that, this season would have to become a 2005esque disaster before Kubiak would get axed in the middle of the season. Can't see it happening, though Kubiak looked like he wanted no part of this team when on the sidelines last Sunday.

Nothing good comes from any of the internal candidates being temp HC. And the players dig Kubiak. The best chance that this offense even being halfway functional is with him on the field. Also how you treat exiting coaches demonstrates to the new guy that you aren't a jackass owner. That Bob McNair is seen by the outside world as a "good owner" (whether he is good at it or not) is actually one of the few selling points that a newish franchise that hasn't had a winning season has.

I just don't think that's on the list of options--mostly because the lack of good options--even if the catastrophic scenario happens for this season. Rhodes is old with a history of health problems from stress. Marciano is good at what he does but has personal reasons he wouldn't want HC hours.
