I don't know enough about the NFC to make a prediction, but I agree (sadly) with who you picked for the AFC. I wish I was as confident as some around here the Texans will improve that much.

You colts lovers realize they lost there blind side tackle right?

Manning is going to be hammered on that side ....

Be realistic though ... if you are not picking Titans AFC South champs you are homer voting.

You have apparently not seen Peter King's predictions over at SportsIllustrated.com. Texans finish first in the AFC South, Colts second, and Titans third.

I for some reason see the 49ers improving a lot this year. I think there will be a sophomore jinx for Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco. I don't know why I see the Bengals making the playoffs it's just a weird feeling. I see the Colts going into the playoffs hot and making a run for the title. The Eagles look good and dangerous.

i have faith in the Colts to have another great player on the bench to pick up that slack. that's what they've done for the past 8 years or so with the o-line.

Putting aside the Texans, a Texans fan picking the Colts is hardly a homer view. I think your compatriot Bullock was about as honest as a visiting fan has been in seeing the Titans slipping 2-3 games from last year putting them squarely into a dog fight with the Colts (who could also slide a couple games) and possibly the Texans (who have to do their part by improving a couple games). My prediction is a giant fight in the 10-11 win game category for the top of the division.

[I'd love to say the Texans, but until they can post a winning season and win more than two games on the road, I just don't have the confidence of a playoff berth. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong by long shot.]

South: Texans - Too many blue chips (Mario, AJ, DeMeco, Slaton) to not win
Worst...er, West: Chargers - By default
WC1: Ravens - Maybe the 2nd best team in the AFC
WC2: Titans - Fisher finds a way

NFC
East: Giants - Who needs Plaxico? The G-men win upfront
Central: Vikings - Any QB could take this team to the playoffs
South: Falcons - In a tie break over the Panthers
West: Cardinals - Should go 6-0 (again) in NFC Worst
WC1: Panthers - Best ground attack in league
WC2: Eagles - Squeak by Saints and Pack for last spot

Super Bowl
Giants over Steelers

Awards
MVP: Tom Brady
Defensive POY: DeMeco Ryans
Coach of the Year: Gary Kubiak (who's in the Sunshine Club, now?)

Great players make their teammates (and coaches) better. I think that's what happens with the Texans this season, as guys like Mario, DeMeco, and AJ decide they are tired of watching the playoffs on TV.

i have faith in the Colts to have another great player on the bench to pick up that slack. that's what they've done for the past 8 years or so with the o-line.

They also lost most of there coaching staff including there O-line coach. It is not going to look pretty for them. Plus Manning was getting hammered in preseason. I know it is just preseason but that should be even more reason for him not to get hit.

I see the Colts going 8-8. Splitting with Houston and Jacksonville and being swept by the Titans. Losing to the Pats and Baltimore and losing to at least two of the Miami, Seattle, Arizona and Jets games.

I see the Texans going 9-7. Loss to the Colts in Indi ... losing in Tennessee. Loss to AZ, Cinici, Pats. Probably losing 2 of the Jets, Oakland, Miami, Seattle games. Assuming Schaub stays healthy for at least 10~12 games. If he goes down early you guys will be lucky IMO to reach 8-8.

I would agree with Bulluck that we will probably be around an 11-5 or 12-4 team and take division.

All I did was bold Borrowme's color scheme.

Also, you didn't pick an NFC South winner.

So nothing is really unreasonable or homerish to predict any of three teams taking the division. I think you are a little harsh on the Colts but hope you are right. But if you think it not unreasonable for the Titans to be at 11-5 and the Texans at 9-7 then you are talking a handful of plays (heck potentially one play swinging one heads up match up) that makes the difference from both being 10-6 looking at what the tiebreakers are.

I am not backing away from my prediction, that sort of takes away the autheticity of a preseason call. I would think it might be interesting to see if anyone would change anything from their original thoughts at this point.

I would start mine with Indy being South champs but keep Houston in the WC, but as much as I hate to say it, Tennessee isn't gone by any means which could affect my WC prediction. I'm not quite as high as most on the Jets as yet, but if I had to throw money at that division right this minute I'd replace NE with NY. More an indictment on NE than an endorsement of the Jets. Again, the Jets maybe be better than I give them credit for at the moment.

NFC East, replace Dallas with the Giants, Dallas to wild card, Carolina out altogether.

I'm sure this will change week to week...lol.

I think the Jets are sneaking into the discussion in the AFC. They could take the East.

I am totally retreating from my Seahawk/Panther position. I think the Falcons take the South. And the Giants probably take the East. Don't know if the Eagles get the Wildcard or if it goes to the Cards or the someone else.

The only things I would change right now would be the Falcons taking the NFC South. Saints taking the Falcons WC spot. Panthers missing the playoffs, and switching Dallas WC spot with the Giants. It's also tempting to take the Jets over the Pats right now, but I'll stick with the Patriots. It's hard to pick against the two Wild Card teams I picked in the AFC with the Texans making the playoffs. Ravens & Colts making it in ahead of the Jets. I don't see the Jets missing the playoffs right now though, but it's hard to give them one of those spots this early in the year...

Who are you saying gets in ahead of the Seahawks? 49ers?

AFC: At this point, I'd give New York the East, and New England the 2nd WC. Rest of AFC holds.

NFC: Minny and New Orleans to division titles, Atlanta and New York to WC. Undecided on West, but I'll hold off on SF. Seattle may go 7-1 or 8-0 at home.

Hah!

I screwed up my divisions and got confuzzled. In my original thing, I had the Seahawks taking the South and the Saints taking the West. It's been a LONG time since the Saints were in the West. duhhhh

Anyway, I still think the Saints take the South but the Falcons get in as a Wild Card instead of the Panthers.

In the WEST, I think it's the Niners with the Cards in a close second.

Screw it. Here's my new expectation (not exactly a prediction...)

AFC

East: Jets
North: Ravens
West: Chargers
South: Colts

WC1: Steelers
WC2: Texans

NFC

East: Giants
North: Vikings
South: Saints
West: Seahawks

hmmm... Interesting.
My "expectations" are similar

AFC
East: Jets (this could be the Pats here - the Jets haven't seen adversity yet. How will they handle a loss?)
North: Ravens (AFC Champs)
West: Chargers (this could be Denver if LT doesn't come back)
South: Colts (one and done in the playoffs)

WC1: Patriots (I'm not ready to write off "the hoodie" just yet)
WC2: Steelers (I'm not ready to write off the champs either)
*We finish 10-6, just missing the playoff dance

NFC
East: Giants (Cowpies finish out of the running)
North: Vikings
South: Saints (Brees is on a Mission!)
West: Niners (They lead the division now and Singletary won't let them fold)

WC1: Bears (this one's a bit shakey with Urlacher out; but once Cutler clicks with his WRs they'll be tough)
WC2: Falcons

OK, maybe Romo flames out in September this year and then is strong the rest of the way???

I still like my NFC picks. The Eagles/Saints game meant nothing this week without McNabb. I still like the Eagles, but man those Saints look good.

In the AFC though, I may have underestimated the Jets. And I just don't like the Steelers at all. I know Big Ben is a beast to take down and can make plays, and their D will always keep them in games, but their offense is just so boring. It looks like the Ravens could take that division, and if the Steelers missed the playoffs, it probably wouldn't surprise me.

Oh yeah, and then there's that Texans pick. DOH!!!

And I never said it here but am on record elsewhere as saying that if the Raiders could get any kind of QB play at all, they could be a surprise team this year.

Well my preseason superbowl pick was the Saints, so I will stick with them. They'll need to improve dramatically on defense from last year and I think they will. When you have an offense that is as explosive as the Saints, with a QB like Drew Brees at the helm, you just need to be average to above average on defense.

I picked the Steelers preseason last year so let's see if I can make it two years in a row.

I'm not good enough to guess the playoff berths.
