Is there a link to a podcast of it for those of us stuck in Austin or Tennesse.
1560 The Game

ya, elaborate please!
Basically Brando was going off about bloggers (which we all can from time to time considering *ahem* Justice). Anyway, Steph wrote in and let Brando know that not all bloggers are negative in their approach and be humorous, etc., etc.

Steph can fill in with more detail whenever she logs on.

Justice is Brando's buddy. Plus...he's a columnist not a blogger. I think the pay scale is a bit different too.

He's a blogger too. But now that you mention it, I think you're right about Dickie and Brando. Seem to remember Brando mentioning something last week when he was in town.

Soooooooo, in short I have no idea who the reference was about.

I'm not sure what blogger he was talking about. I know he mentioned Clay Travis at one point--I like Clay, and I don't think his question to Tim Tebow was out of line. Brando misrepresented the question--it was about Tebow's faith and saving himself for marriage.

But he was railing against all bloggers as being bad for all of humanity blah blah blah, so I wrote him this email:

Dear Mr. Brando,

I was listening to your show the other day on 1560 The Game in Houston, and feel the need to take issue with your blanket condemnation of sports bloggers.

Like with any group of people or professions, there are good and bad examples of each. There's responsible and thoughtful bloggers and journalists as well as irresponsible and foolish ones. Blogging is just a medium, just like TV, radio, newspapers, magazines. That medium can be used for positive or negative purposes. There's a danger in generalizing about any group of people.

I'm a sports fan and an attorney. I am also a sports blogger. I've written without formal media access to teams and with it. I've never written anything that I would be shamed from saying to that person's face. Many journalists read what I write and are encouraging of it. During football season, I do a guest spot with 1560 am, and they often have sports bloggers as guests on their show. They want the best content and analysis on their shows, regardless of whether someone has a formal journalism background.

In other words, there's no sense having a bias against bloggers in general--you should always look to the content of someone's writing to determine its credibility. I'm sorry that you feel like you were treated unfair by the unnamed sports blog you mentioned, but there's no sense blasting the rest of us at the same time.

Hope this finds you in good spirits.

Cheers,
I thought him railing at bloggers was like the elites railing against printing presses in a previous time. But I figure the best way to deal with silly speech is to politely address it with smart speech.

Nicely stated!!:toast2:

It is just like other radio or newspaper personalities acting elitist when they put down callers or writers despite many callers/writers seeming to know alot more about sports or sports situations than they do. Just because you are in the business doesn't mean you are good at your business.

Good stuff TC. Hate to say I didn't hear it live. He sounded like a buffoon in his blogger rant last week.

I gave the show a chance last week and I didn't mind it so much.

I finally jumped off on Monday. Listening to "Walk Like a Man" and the "Lollipop Guild" and that god-awful e-mail jingle finally took it's toll.

Not to mention the "Hey Boy!!!" hotkey and the redneck schtick. Just irritating.

Now I'm back to listening to "Coast to Coast AM" reruns during the Tim Brando timeslot.

Sorry to derail the thread. I just had to vent about that show and this looked like the best place to do it.
