Texans vs Vikings Blue Crew Tailgate

OK guys, I know it's kinda early to start the thread (if that's even possible) but here's the deal:

I can get us a port-a-cool for the tailgate but I can't fit both the grill and the port-a-cool in the truck. I need someone to haul one or the other. Also - if someone has a generator, we will need that to run it. I can pick it up a day or more before the game if you come late. Bottom line is, no generator = no port-a-cool.

Also - the grill WILL be there for this one.

PS - dimensions on the port-a-cool are: 68"w x 53"h x 36"d and it looks like this:

Awwwwww, gma might make it a little earlier, and be able to stay a little longer if you're able to hook that thing up David!! Unfortunately, I don't have a truck, or I would be the first to volunteer, and would drive all over Houston to help you out. Gonna have to trade in my car! I need BIG WHEELS!

We are planning on bringing our generator to this...We can probably run an extension cord across to your side...
But...
Don't these things need running water to work? How are you going to work that?

I have portable cooler that holds a keg. It has a standard hose fitting on the bottom for draining. I'm going to fill it & an second cooler up with water. Since the cooler will be on my truck, there will be adequate water pressure to get the water down to the port-a-cool.

PS...The running watts for this thing is 1150.

Edit, nevermind. Our generator is 5500 and can't run that thing. It would take a serious kickass generator to make it work.

????
It only requires 1150 watts.
Ours is either 6500 or 8500 (I can't remember and don't want to go out to the garage to see) so we should be good. All we are planning on running on our side is a fan for the misting system. We will just need to figure out a way to get a cord run to your side without causing too many problems (I am thinking a lot of duct tape)...

Sweet. I'll bring some extra fuel for it.

As far as the cord goes, I'll test this weekend and see how well the duct tape holds up. I'll see if I can come up with an aeriel solution if that fails. I'm sure that if we use enough of it, the duct tape should hold up to the people & vehicle traffic.

Thanks Andy!

We're going minimal stuff this week - Manuel, Adam, and Stef will all be out for the game.

I do want to buy one of the Honda generators (and have for year) as soon as everything settles from a new job and buying a house.

Any volunteers yet to help carry the load? I'd perfer to have the grill hauled, as I can load that up in your truck the day before. I'm picking up the port-a-cool on Monday morning.

Gonna do some brats for this one. Will probably soak down a watermelon with some coconut rum as well.... Is it Monday yet?

Look on Craigs List after hurricane season is over. I bought one in March or April that only had 4 hours on it and looks brand new with pig tails. I believe it is 5500 or 6500 kW and only paid $400.00 for it. I looked it up on the internet and they sold for over $600.00. In my opinon that is the best hurricane insurance you can buy, because as long as I own the darn thing I can almost guarntee we won't have a hurricane because I am prepared. :woot2

That watermelon sounds REAL good right about now...coming down w/ either flu or a sinus infection last 2 days. I need Cush's hyperbaric chamber to speed recovery!

Can't get there until Aaron gets out of school, so I'll be a little late. Still watching the HEAT index also! Just can't push it to much this year my friends! I'll step it up when reg season gets here. I'll bring something good with me this time also, don't know what.

Sideline will be here for this game also! We don't want him to think we don't know how to tailgate in the heat!!:heat:

if yall need some help lemme know I have a truck and also have a honda quite generator that has never even seen oil.

Guys, you don't know how hard it is for me to read this thread. I wanna go SO bad!!!:crying:

I won't make my second game because my surgery :tedc: is Tuesday AM. The goal is to be off the IR by season opener:texflag: and our first playoff run.

BTW, if you know someone who needs some tickets and a platinum pass, see this link....

In the meantime, carry on, have a great time and give each other hugs for me. I am coming back, soon.

Ted! I am devastated that your not going to be at the game that I will be there for, really hope the surgery goes well though and its nothing serious, get well soon buddy.

On the Tailgate note, what time is it all kicking off, when should I look at arriving at the stadium for?

We are going to bring 2 of Ted's 4 canopies, we can't fit all 4 in our van. So we will be short canopies, unless someone else can bring some or swing by and pick up Ted's.

Both Dave and I are getting off work early, so should be there shortly after 2 when the gates open. We are planning on bringing sausage again and who knows what else.

I have an EZUp that I will try to bring. Can't guarantee it will fit until I get the fan stuff loaded.

Sideline, I would give anything to be there but I just can't do it. In fact, I would normally just give the tickets away to friends or charity but with the missed work because of the back, surgery Tuesday, college tuition just paid out, and college textbooks needing to be bought, I need anything I can get for the tickets.

I hope to see you soon, buddy. Make sure you take lots of pics.

Blue Crew, take care of my little buddy.

Ted, I hope that you get well soon!! Enjoy the pills :-)

Sideline, I look forward to seeing you at the tailgate. FYI, if you are able to get there close to 2pm--I strongly advise it. I have a feeling that the traffic will be crazy. I am trying to map out my path now.

I am staying at a hotel on the metro line so will just be hoping on that down to the game, so hopefully traffic won't be too much of a concern. However I will get down there as soon as I can. Do you all tailgate in the same place you did the last time I came to town?

Yes they do. Everyone will be there just show up whenever. I won't be there.

Andy! Got your ticket all lined up, so don't worry about that. I won't be there real early though, gotta wait until school is out. I'm shooting for around 4:30 or so, depending on the traffic.

I have a brand new canopy but doubtful I'll bring it tomorrow. Depends on if I have to bring my car, or my son in laws truck. Also have a new table. Probably will give them an official debut at the Jets game.

I'll bring some stuff to throw on the grill, Earls of course!! Something easy since I'll be rushed tomorrow.

MNF sucks for tailgating!! BUT, It'll be a blast spending even a few minutes with some of the greatest fans in the NFL!!! LOVE you guys/gals!! See ya all tomorrow.

Don't worry about missing your second game. Just get well for when the season counts. We'd rather have you there healthy and feeling good rather than being in a terrible amount of pain and miserable.

Take care Ted!! I'll be thinking about ya tomorrow morning also! Just relax, get well, and look forward to the Jets coming to town. We'll have a doozy of a tailgate for our home opener, and make up for all this preseason stuff. Maybe it'll be OUR turn to push YOU around in a w/c! lol We'll take care of you! I promise you that!

If ya need anything please call! My prayers will be with ya tomorrow morning!

Kathryn has a tall friend from work who will be occupying a couple of our seats. Please show them "the ropes" and welcome them into the Bull Pen for their fist time. He is a lawyer, so try not to hold that against him.

GAWD, I wish I could be there. You guys and gals have fun!

Ok Texans fans - it's almost tailgate time.

Along with the portacool, I'm bringing beer brats, smoked sausage, watermelon (spiked with Parrot Bay), and some stuff to make frozen margaritas (lime & strawberry). I also have plenty of bottled water. As soon as Dean gets here to haul the grill, I'll be headin down the highway.

:fans::fans::fans:

Thanks to everyone that helped make the portacool happen. Dean & crew - thanks for taking care of the grill & hooking me up with power.

Can't wait to do this all again. Hopefully the Texans will look better when the games count.

That thing was cool (no pun intended). :)

I understand there was a sign wishing me a speedy recovery in the Bull Pen that was rumored to have made it to the Jumbotron. I did not see it on TV but I would like to thanks those responsible for such a nice thought. You guys are fantastic!:fans:
