Over / Unders - Texans Style

"You Big Dummy"
Ok, I've been having conversations lately within the office on a few over / under statistics that particular players might reach. What do you think.......

Andre Johnson: 1,500 yards
Steve Slaton: 1,400 yards
Matt Shaub: 4,000 yards
Mario: 12 sacks
Barwin: 8 sacks

Man.......I'm freaking ready for some Football....

:kingkong:

AJ : over
SS: over
MS: over
MW: over
CB: under

& il add a few more myself:

Amobi Okoye: 5 sacks
Owen Daniels: 6 tds
Duane Brown: 9 sacks allowed

I think I'd take the over on all of the above except for Barwin. I think he'll manage to get anywhere from 4 to 7 sacks this season. I love the guy and think he has a ton of potential, but he's facing a steep learning curve this season. Next year though I could see him posting big sack numbers.:fans:

Andre: Under
Slaton: Under (if rushing only) Over (if combined)
Schaub: Under
Mario: Over
Barwin: Under

Sorry, I didn't specify- it was for rushing only......

Alright then I'll take the under on Slaton too. I think Foster or Brown will take over some of his workload.

I'll add a couple more over/unders:

Fred Bennett 6 INTs

Forced Turnovers by Defense 32 (We had 27 last year)

Owen Daniels 1000 yds receiving

James Casey 3 TDs

To me the most critical stats I am interested in are:

Team turnovers/takeaway differential - 0
Last year, they were -10(more turnovers) which ranked 29th in the league.

How many games Schaub starts - 12

I'm wanting to take the over in both, but if our secondary situation is as bad as it seems, I hate to say it, I am going with under on the turnovers/takeaway.

And to rub salt in that... it won't bode well for playoff hopes

Casey- Over (I have to think they will utilize him in the Red Zone. I am thinking 5)

Oh what the heck... I'll play too.
(obviously we're assuming nobody misses any significant time due to injury)
Andre Johnson: 1,500 yards
Under. But not by much. I can see 1400 - 1450 yds. Schaub will spread it around more so A.J.'s yds and catches will dip ever so slightly. I mean 115 catches/1575 yds is a hard act to follow. However I can see > 8 TDs this year.

Steve Slaton: 1,400 yards
Under. I see 1200-1300 yds rushing. Foster/Brown/Moats will eat into his carries. They will be more productive than Green was last year so S.S. won't have to be the whole dang running game by himself.

Matt Shaub: 4,000 yards
Over. A.J will get 1400 (see above) but O.D., S.S., A.D., and K.W. will combine for 2700 and push him over 4000 yds. The Matt/Sage duo combined for almost 4500 yds. Matt - this assumes he stays healthy - can do that alone. Maybe even better. I also predict he'll get more than the 21 TD passes they combined for also.

Mario: 12 sacks
Over. This was a toughy. I think the new additions to the line might pick up sacks that he would be getting which might make his total drop by a couple. Still, the Kool Ade sez that Mario is probably good for 12-13 sacks every year.

Barwin: 8 sacks
Under. Definitely under. If he gets half that as a rookie - considering that Smith, Mario, Bulman, and a healthy Amobi are in the rotation - I'll be delighted. I just want him to flush the QB Mario's way. Repeately.

So what is the over/under on the weeks when the start DanO or Rex threads?

or the over/under on the "fire Kubiak thread"

or the first Koolaid thread.

Those are real over/unders message board style.

I'm sure there will be plenty of folks that will submit to your request (and I promise I won't be one of them).......

It's still too early and I'm way too optimistic to go that direction.

Andre Johnson: 1,500 yards UNDER kevin and david anderson ahve great seasons....
Steve Slaton: 1,400 yards over no slup
Matt Shaub: 4,000 yards over coulda got 4500 in my opinon lastyear if whe was health
Mario: 12 sacks under with barwin
Barwin: 8 sacks under to much to ask for a rookie

A few more over/unders...

Kevin Walters 1000 receiving yards

Matt Schaub Passer rating of 100 for the season

Offensive Line 15 Sacks allowed

I'll take the under on the first two and the over on the sacks allowed.
- K.W. won't miss 1000 yds by much - say 900-950 yds.
- Only Philip Rivers ended with a passer rating over 100. Schaub will end the year with a passer rating in the 90s, again. It's possible. buuut I dunno.
- Less than 15 sacks? Wow. That's pretty lofty territory for the best of O-lines. Only 4 teams did it last year. And we'd have to more than cut last year's total (32) in half. I'd settle for 20 or less.

All three are good goals though. If we meet all three, no way we don't make the playoffs.
