$90 Pizza at football games?

From the comments:

Everything is bigger in Texas and that includes major stupidity.

I guess somehow that Arkansas a$$hole is supposed to rep TX, right?

*sigh*

Adam Wexler mentioned on his show that when the players took a tour of the stadium, one of them looked at the concession stand and said "I'd never buy any of that."

A millionaire thought the food was too expensive.

Eh if you can afford to buy into those suites those pizzas are pocket change.

It is ridiculous though.

Shoot, back in the Oilers R&S heyday, we got an invoice from the Astrodome that was meant to go to a large corporation here in Houston. Our mailperson opened it by mistake and we were checking it out before we realized what it was. They were paying $75 for a chicken fried steak, and this was almost 20 years ago!

You are right.

I'm coming from the perspective that my brother sells those suites. I know guys who have bought those suites. To them, throwing down money for the suite was all in fun. For most of these people it is pure throw money fun or pure throw money business. Either way a $90 pizza is ridiculous but to the people in there I doubt they care.

As long as you can get $90 for a pizza, why not sell for that? I don't blame the guy selling it for that much, I blame the guy buying it for that price.

$8 beers, $5 waters, $9 nachos, it's all ridiculous, but as long as people fork it over.......

66 bucks for a 12 pack isn't bad for a sporting event.

Edit: looks like the story has been revised, the pizzas are actually 60 dollars

Apparently there was some misinformation in the original article.

According to the Cowboys, the 20-inch pizzas at the new stadium will cost $60, not $90 as reported. (That's the same price they were in the suites at Texas Stadium.)

-OR- Someone with the 'Gurls went spin doctor.

I'm not sure if $60/pizza is any worse than the $12/cotton candy that they were selling at the circus. It's just freakin' sugar!

i payed $120 for a pizza and a 6 pack of coors at a ski resort on my honeymoon several years ago. we were so exhausted i've never been so happy to shell out that kind of money just so i didn't have to get up off the floor. I think I managed one slice and half a beer and I fell asleep right there on the floor.

I'm amazed at some of the prices that you guys are talking about!

I was gonna say I need to get out more but one thing is I definitely couldn't afford to eat at these places.

$60 for a pizza really only breaks down to $7.50/slice.
That's not too outrageous considering you're at a pro sporting event.

I had to think about and research this one a bit before replying. I couldn't understand why a plain pizza could cost $90 but a 12-pack of beer $66 or $5.50 each. Another article said the 20" pizza cost $60 and included a variety of toppings. How many slices can you get from a 20" pizza? Isn't a 16" pizza considered large and yields about 12 slices? If true, then a 20" pizza should yield 16 slices which comes to about $3.75 per slice.

Anyone want a pizza?

I'll cook it to order, deliver it hot to anywhere in Houston for 60 bucks. Seriously.

Seriously.

I make 'em gooooooood....

I need to hook you up on some Vegas tips. ;)

LOL..it was my bachelor party at The Palms. Great time. Rodman was at the pool daily. The "views" were nice. This was before the second Playboy tower too. There were alot of NBA guys around. But we got there that Friday morning at about 9 am, went straight to the floating table in the pool and started ordering. $7 a beer. Stupid but it didn't matter..wasn't my tab :)

Last year we did the guys golf trip and it was at Planet Hollywood because they had a deal with some of the golf courses and we got great combined rates. Beers weren't as high but still steep. Overall we got a great deal.

Speaking of Las Vegas. I lived out there for a bit. Back n 1999 or 2000.... The Girls of the Glitter Gulch on Fremont...

A friend of mine and I were walking along Fremont street one day. We see a man calling out free admission with a two drink minumum. WHY THE HECK NOT! We order a sprite and a Corona. Check was $32.50. Upon seeing the dancers giving out dollar motorboats to those who were sitting near the dance floor. We happily paid the check.

I miss Las Vegas.

Okay, as long as the best man and your other friends picked up the tab no worries.

How did you like Planet Hollywood, btw? I've never been.

Yeah, I barely touched any tabs that weekend...beers, steakhouses, etc. In fact we actually got back some of that cash in theory because that Saturday we had a cabana above the pool with a flat screen watching Texas v. Ohio St in college football....who knows what our tab should have been...$2000...and it ended up being $475 split between 10 guys. I think the pool person liked us.

As far as PH. Good and bad. Again, considering what we paid all inclusive with the golf courses I liked it. PLUSES: Location...midstrip and right across from Bellagio. Bar in casino...there is this bar in the casino that is just an easy meeting place for all adventures... Rooms....we used the old slip a $20 to the front desk person and each got upgraded to suites..2 of us to a room..that overlooked the pool and the Bellagio fountains. NEGATIVES: Gaming...tables were crowded and wasn't impressed with the set up. Pool....not much too it. There are two of them that aren't too shaded and it was just a regular crowd. Lame. Overall feel..crowd was just MTVish and not as good as The Palms or other places. There were other bars and places with bikini girls and all but no one was there and it became lame after a bit. Also, the one cool bar I liked...one little negative for some :) was that there was alot of "ladies that wanted your money" in there. It wasn't trashy ones either, just alot of nicely dressed girls who looked for people who might have cash. After a bit the novelty of the situation just got old as new ones swooped in to ask what was up. I consider us to be a nice looking group of guys, but Brad Pitt didn't deserve this traffic..lol. OVERALL..not a bad place to stay but not one I'm racing to get back to. It doesn't have anything spectacular like the rooftop bars at Palms and Rio or other things. In fact, Rio has made a comeback. I love VooDoo Lounge on the roof for great views. There was a piano.sports bar downstairs that was fun. The WSOP has been there lately. It's end of strip but fun. I really enjoy The Palms though and their rates weren't even bad...if you don't mind being off strip. I also like The Hotel at Mandalay Bay...awesome place. A family member of mine was supposed to go a week or so ago and said even The Wynn is cheap right now.
