I Need Some Help From You Tailgaters and Those In The Know

Drew_Smoke

@Drew_Smoke
I received an e-mail from someone in the media. These guys cover events...festivals and other kinds of party type events.

Anyhoo...I told this guy that NFL tailgates are a dime a dozen but there is something magical about Houston, prime time football and tailgating. I told him Nov 23rd will be off the hook here.

So he wants to know...What's So Special About It???

Of course...food, drink, good people, ect. That ain't gonna cut it.

So before I reply I was hoping all of you will throw me some of your thoughts. It would be reallly neat if we got covered, some good pub and show the nation who we are. They have never covered an NFL event except for Super Bowl week once.

Thanks

70,000 Texans fans over how many acres of parking lot?

Who else has a website dedicated to their tailgate group?

I'd like to send him a pretty informational reply.

Thanks, Ted.

I wonder how many NFL teams have multiple websites promoting game day fun? I wll google and see what pops up.

I will send him a link to TexansChick's stuff, too.

Keep em coming...

Go and get some info on the tailgaters of the month, show them that we ahve gilrs, vehicles, and the whole parking lot always decked in Texan gear and colors, not to mention how killer all the food is. Look for the Commisioner of Tailgating who wrote and article on our lots, and look at Bullpenphotos for good shots of activity. Just Google it!

You can let them know they are more than welcome to come out to the Yellow Lot and visit the "Texans Liberty Tailgaters". We've got the big ol' bus complete with new paint and graphics, a big screen tv inside with the NFL package, as well as cold a/c running through it.

We pass out Deep Steel Blue, and Battle Red Jello Shots from the moment we get there, till it's time to walk inside. Maybe they'd like to do some beer bongs from not one, but two of the custom Houston Texans Beer Bongs. Plenty of AMAZING food, enough to feed a freaking army. Great speakers pumping out all the latest music to create one hell of a party atmosphere. Maybe they'd like to play Beer Pong on the new custom Houston Texans Beer Bong table. Ladder Golf, Washer Boards. . .we've got those games too for you interactive people!

After they're ready to visit someone else (if they even want to leave), they'll be more than welcome to pick up a Texans Liberty Tailgaters t-shirt to commemorate the awesome time they will have!
Let them know that we are directly across from Shotgun 30, so in every direction they turn in the Yellow Lot, they will have plenty of party atmospheres to choose from.

THAT IS THE YELLOW LOT.

Remember, this year the Texans have implemented a NEW rule regarding the speakers.... it is in the little book that came with the tickets... No speaker can be more than 18"x12" and no louder than 68 decibles.... so that means , anything louder than a generator that is heard by anyone other than your group is liable to be told to turn down... complaints were plenty this offseason with tailgaters having to liston to other peoples crap in music.. Just be warned....

I am going to send this thread alongs with some links over to Art Mann and let him read for himself. If you have any other comments, links or pics for him, please post them up.

And for those who are not familiar with Art Mann Presents check out his site at www.ArtMann.com He tends to cover events where there is alot of alcohol involved. His Super Bowl coverage at Miami was a good one. Vegas on New Year's Eve comes to mind. Oh and anyhting in San Fran is just TV Gold...lol His show runs on HDNet, Thursday nights.

Thanks

All they need to know is this:

A couple years ago when we were playing the Chiefs, a very high ranking (albeit recently retired) NFL executive was hanging out with us at Texan Mojo. This guy KNOWS the NFL: the teams, the stadiums, the tailgates; EVRYTHING off the field is his ball of wax. He sits in an owners box every Sunday. Total stud. My freakin' hero actually. He offers me Steve Sabol's phone number with these instructions: "Call Steve. You won't get through to him, but tell his secratary that I gave you Steve's number suggested you call. Steve WILL call you back. Tell him _____ _____ said that you guys have the best tailgate party in the NFL and NFL Films needs to send a camera crew down here to document it."

If that don't get their panties wet, screw 'em.

I never made the call, but that's a separate issue.

It's not so much that I hate Art Mann (although it would be 100x better with a chick host), it's just so many of the people who are on his show looks like idiots.

Separately, from what I've seen of AM, an NFL tailgate party isn't exactly their cup of tea. I like a tailgate party as much as anyone, but they aren't exactly a unique experience. There are 15 or 16 of them going on every weekend across the US for 17 straight weeks. On top of that, there are dozens and dozens of them going on in college town across America every Saturday in the Fall. AM's focus is on more one of kind events.

Thats the first thing I said..NFL tailgates are a dime a dozen but prime time football here is kinda cool.

The people on his show are supposed to look foolish. They are all drunk...lol

My feelings wouldn't be hurt if he agreed with you.

In this article, I visit with the self-proclaimed commissioner of tailgating, Joe Cahn. He's been everywhere in his RV. He tailgates professionally and says that the Texans have one of the top 5 tailgating experiences in the league.
FanHouse in the Stands: Colts at Texans, A Great Tailgate, Not-So-Great Game

And he was there for a regular game, not a night game. Night games are crazier.

For the Texans to be top 5 after few years in the league means that we kick ass.
