Connor Barwin Boxing Training

I guess we should start a poll as to who's going to be the first player to try & mix it up with Barwin in TC. :aggressive: :D

Not bad overall, but he could improve his footwork (he gets flat-footed alot).........but I'm sure he just started boxing. He does look like he's got a pretty nasty natural right hook though.

thats pretty good to still have that kind of power after that much of a work out. Ever tried taking a heavy bang and just taking everything you have for as long as you can. That'll wear your butt out.

I know Jared Allen does MMA training in the offseason. He says it's done wonders for his career.

I wonder if the Texans have approached Mario about doing the same.

How is there any more of an injury risk than any other kind of training? It's not like he'd be FIGHTING MMA, just training. Totally different animal.

That's why I'm so confused about everyone saying that Matt Leinart suddenly being a tough guy because he's doing MMA training. Why? He's not going to fight anyone. If he did, he'd get his face split open like a cantaloupe.

I thought I read somewhere that our OL was being taught judo.

Did anyone else hear that too, or am just getting part-timers disease?

Well, we know his cardio is in great condition. That's a tough workout, the jump roping alone is a pain in the arse.

the Texans added 5 defensive players from the 09 draft 3 of which make the 52 man roster, which includes Barwin (McCain/Nolan PS). Connor they make no bones about grading out as 1st rd. athletic talent. Bush was obviously salivating to add speed, size & attitude to his defense.
(Connor) Barwin, he's got "freakish" athletic ability. He's a big kid that's extremely fast. He's agile and mobile. We see that kid coming in and really helping us against the pass game. He can rush the passer because he has such tremendous speed.
Combine speed with strong, quick hands where leveraged placement on tackles & tight-ends can erase those split second late QB hurries translating into more sacks, backs up Frank Bush expectations :texflag:
