OchoCinco: We're like "Brokeback Mountain"

Ochocinco: We’re Like Brokeback Mountain

Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports Ochocinco said he spoke to quarterback Carson Palmer for about “40 to 45 minutes” for the first time since the end of the season.

“I know people are trying to say we’re mad at each other and all that, but we’re good,” he said. “We’re like Brokeback Mountain. I’m going to be with Carson so much in July that I’m going to be the nanny (for his new twins).

“I’m going to babysit. We were getting down to the details. If he and the wife go out, they have to be back by three. I asked for permission to have company over.”

But The Ocho sounds totally serious after missing his second straight spring of voluntary workouts. Last year it was because he was trying to get traded. This year, after speaking to an Academy Award winner (Denzel Washington) and an NBA winner (Kobe Bryant), he said he put himself in isolation to retrieve the hunger that gnawed at him long before the five Pro Bowls and the 2001 NFL Draft the Bengals picked him in the second round.

Wonder what Kevin Walter has to say about this?

CJ is doing everything he can once again to get the attention he needs. This guy is pathetic and TO Jr. He gave up on the Bengals last season and I wouldn't want him anywhere near my team.

Chad Ochocinco has face tattoos By Chris Chase Following in the footsteps of renowned role models Mike Tyson and Stephon Marbury, the former Chad Johnson(notes) has gone and gotten himself a face tattoo. The transformation from amusing narcissist to attention-craving crackpot is now complete. Ochocinco announced the new facial ink on Twitter and had the courtesy to post pictures of his three-part facial masterpiece.

Oh yes my friends, that's an outline of the state of Florida. The other side of his face is adorned with two crosses. And in between his eyes -- yes, in between his eyes -- are the letters "OC". Who knew Ochocinco was a fan of Mischa Barton?

It's weird knowing that Andre is his cousin... and good friend from what I've heard both say.

A few years back, CO was giving Andre lots of praise as being on of the best receivers, before anyone outside of Miami or Houston even knew much about him.

Update: So, it turns out Chad isn't in the Tyson/Starbury league quite yet. The tattoos were fake. From his suddenly-hot Twitter page:

Alright, you got us, Ochocinco. That was pretty good. I always say that April Fool's Day is for suckers and that people should pull pranks on other, random days if they really want to trick people. Chad accomplished just that.

Although, I've gotta say, it doesn't bode well for Ochocinco's public image that nobody batted an eyelid when he said he got three tatts on his face. My BS detector would have been beeping like crazy had any other NFL player said he was getting the outline of Florida imprinted onto on his left cheek. With Ochocinco, it just seemed like the next logical step.

The Mouth is craving attention...again.

He's probably not a bad dude and maybe even a nice guy. But I get tired of the constant self-glossing and demands for attention. Let your play speak for you, like AJ does.

He's had problems with every coach he has ever had going back to HS.

Chad Ochocinco plans to defy the NFL and Tweet during games

By MJD

Everyone goes through a stage in their life where they rebel against things for no real reason. They want to test authority figures, they want to see what they can get away with and they want to prove their independence. Eventually, most people outgrow this and then turn into adults who make sensible decisions.

Chad Ochocinco isn’t quite there yet.

Chad already declared that he wanted to Tweet (post to Twitter) during NFL games, and the NFL already gave him a very firm “no.” But he says he plans on doing it anyway. Listen closely to this video, courtesy of SportsFanLive.

In case you didn’t catch that, the money quote, I believe, is this:

"There's a lot of things they don't want me to do. I do it anyway. They know that. I don't know why they even fussing about it. ... When I say I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it, regardless of what they say."

Fight the power, Ocho.

I don’t know what the NFL stands to gain with their anti-Twitter rules, and in a perfect world, we could get honest, relevant and insightful Tweets from athletes and/or coaches during games. That would be fun. I could see some value in that, for both the league and the fan.

But really, what are we talking about here? Have you seen Chad Johnson’s Twitter feed? We’re talking about missing out on “damn damn” and “child please” 892 times a day. Chad Ochocinco being unable to Tweet for three hours on a weekend is, in my opinion, a loss America can live with.

Normally, I support the guys who like to buck the system, but unfortunately, I don’t see a lot of good coming from it in this particular instance. Somehow, I’ve ended up siding against both the NFL and Chad Johnson(notes)

BUENO!
I don't know, last season the dude was 72nd in yards. Over the past 5 seasons he's gone from 3rd, to 5th, to 11th, to 12th, to 72nd in that one catagory. I know that there were circumstances that made that last season into a 60 spot plummet but he's been out of the top ten for three years now and declined every season since 2004.

Very good receiver but I'd say he's clearly let his games eclipse his game in recent years.

I wondered about what the big deal was also (other than your a pro and your supposed to be paying attention!), but then one of the league officials spoke about it and one of the things they worry about is in game information that can be used by gamblers. Say a player gets hurt, but the team is keeping it quiet, but someone Tweets it is a major injury, that can affect what happens in places like Vegas.

Agreed. The guy has the athletic ability as well as good hands. He has just been too focused on the antics. He was too busy planning his touchdown celebrations to actually bother scoring some touchdowns.
