With those pictures... are you trying to say that Dallas will win?

There will be no looting in Houston. We'll all just take a massive dump in the new toilet they built up there in Dallas in 2011.

It's hard enough to predict one team making it to the Super Bowl. The odds of guessing and seeing BOTH teams there is pretty crazy!

Basically it's just too perfect. So, no.

The Cowboys won't make a superbowl as long as Jerry Jones continues to run the team. They are a downard trending organization that doesn't learn from its mistakes. Until they are sold or Stephen Jones takes over, I'd be shocked if they have any real success.

You do realize they have three Super Bowl trophies under JJ's rule, right? Not saying he hasn't screwed the fido frequently but success is not unknown to him.

has the years pas its seems like NO

We are a team on the rise while dallas yes somewhat talented is a team on the downward slope

the cowgirls will never make it again :stirpot:

i would love it, but the odds are very low that teams would make it in the same yr

There are 32 teams in the NFL.

1/16 from the AFC and 1/16 from the NFC make it to the superbowl every year.

If the teams that made it were completely randomly chosen, you'd have a 1/256 chance of seeing an All-Texas Superbowl.

So assuming the NFL continues for another few centuries, it should happen eventually :)

Thanks for the statistics supporting my prediction of 2525. I do not pull this information out of my er hat. Also, that same year out first round pick will be a defensive lineman that can rush the passer. In the second round we will trade Sage Rosenfels to Minnesota for a pick.

No. Too many variables for that to happen.

I will say though that I wouldn't just simplify it, as some has, that the Texans are a team on the rise and the Cowboys in a downfall. The Texans have been counted as that rising team before and then crashed. Though this team seems much more stable and alot more talented, I'm just a person who has to see it to believe it. On the Boys, as big a fan as I am of them, I am realistic but I don't see them on the downside. They still have youth and talent. It is a matter of getting people to buy into the program, etc. As bad as Jerry can be, I doubt he will ever be so dumb that he would let the team just fall apart.

So taking all that above, it would just have to be a perfect storm.

That would make an amazing SB. As much as i hate the Cowboys that would be really really cool and would create debates in and around Texas for as long as we're all alive especially if the Texans were to beat the Cowboys in the SB.

I think the more appropriate question would be will they even ever play at all? I think they're supposed to play next season, but they should at least be playing every other year.

I don't really see the Cowboys in decline though. They still have plenty of talent and it's not like they're in rebuilding mode or something. The Cowboys just play in a really really tough division every year and if they were in a few different divisions, their team would look a lot better right now as far as taking a division. The NFC East is really really tough.

It's possible, but I doubt that either of them will both make the SB in the same year.

That would basically go down as the World vs. Some team nobody's ever heard of. We'd be slightly outnumbered in the fan department. Lots of Cowboys fans on this lousy planet. Lots.

Yeah I don't really see the Cowbodys on the decline either.......they're backfield should be beasting on people for the foreseeable future. If Felix Jones didn't get hurt, that national audience might not be goo gooing over Chris Johnson right now. Felix Jones in the short time he played last year showed even more big play ability than Chris Johnson.

Program? I think that's the problem what's Wade Phillips program? Jc Garrett's? Until Jerry can let a coach do his thing in Dallas this team is going to be schizo.

You do realize they have three Super Bowl trophies under JJ's rule, right? Not saying he hasn't screwed the fido frequently but success is not unknown to him.

I would make the same argument about the Oakland Raiders, who also have won a couple Superbowls under Al Davis. The Cowboys demise began in 1994 when Jerry decided to show his aplomb as general manager- combine that with the beginning of the salary cap and Jerry's inability for self critique and you have a perfect storm. Since that time, the organization has been in a steady free-fall. It took 3 consecutive 5 win seasons before Jerry realized that he needed a strong personality (Parcells) to run the team. Then, after one winning season, Jerry couldn't help but begin running the show again. They're a mess and will continue to be until Jerry is no longer running the show.

I'm not sure how you can be paying atttention to how the Cowboys are being run and conclude that Felix Jones proves the organization isn't in decline. I don't know where to even start other than to say if after watching Jerry run the team for 20 years you don't see their problems when he's general managing then there is nothing that I could argue that would convince you.

As cool as it would be, that would mean the Girls making it to the SB again. I don't want to see that happen. It happened on my Madden game two seasons ago in my franchise, and I whooped their ass. :D

I think you really are pretty simplistic in your view of the situation. First of all you have to give credit and discredit at the same time. If it weren't for Jerry, Jimmy would not have been hired and the team wouldn't have pulled out of their mire. Up until 1986 they have 20 straight winning seasons with 18 playoff appearances. As long as you are throwing out records, Landry and the Cowboys started to decline and won 7 games and then went 3-13. So this led to Jimmy and Jerrys 1-15 and then the rise. A pretty steep and massive jump in a few years to winning 3 SBS in 4 years. As far as what happened after that, from all real reports and not those just hating, Jimmy was needling and doing as much damage as Jerry at the time. He wanted out as much as Jerry wanted credit. It is just fact. After that though Jerry screwed up and decided to hire patsies and became a bad GM. Parcells stopped that but lately, despite some bad moves in my book, their talent level is still loaded and you are blind or ignoring it to call it a full decline.

As far as talent..Parcells did well but he didn't win with it and he had alot of busts too. Alot of the talent is still there ALONG with some pretty good drafting by Jerry, if we are also giving credit. Starting with the last 4-5 drafts with Parcells and Jerry you have...2005- Ratliff..a Pro Bowler in the 7th, Chris Canty who excelled for 4 years, Marion Barber in the 4th, DeMarcus Ware and Marcus Spears....even Kevin Burnett a backup and special teams guy that just left...many strong starters.. 2006-This was a bad Parcells draft that took Bobby Carpenter and Skyler Green but they got Pat Watkins and Fasano, who they got a 4th for..overall almost an F 2007..Jerry with no Parcells--Anthony Spencer who starts or rotates, Isiah Stanback who is playing WR and special teams, the kicker Folk..one of the tops in the league, a FB in Deon Anderson..not top names but players that start and play...2008-Felix Jones who played well before his injury, Mike Jenkins will start at CB or be in 75% of the time rotating and nickle, Tashard Choice, one of the top rookie RBs last year, Orlando Scandrick, another CB who is to start taken in the 5th, and Martellus Bennett, an athletic TE who caught 3 TDs last year. This is one of their top drafts of the last decade at this point in time. And this last draft..who knows but they got 12 guys..many of the picks from draft day trades Jerry made the year before and many who have impressed the media during workouts...could be good, could be busts but if they even average 5 of 12 starting one day, it is still good.

So overall not too bad the last 4 years in talent. Ware and some of the others are Pro Bowlers with minimal years under their belt. Add to that the free agents they signed...Kitna is a far better backup than Brad Johnson, Keith Brooking as a starting LB, Igor Olshansky..26 years old(a 16 game starter for the Chargers) and Gerald Sensabaugh, 24 years old(a 16 game starter at strong safety for the Jags)

So here is a quick guide to who should be starting or playing...

QB--Romo, Kitna and Stephen McGee
RB--Barber, Felix Jones and Choice
WR--Roy Williams, Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin...Hurd and Stanback
TE--Witten and Martellus Bennett
OL --Flozell Adams, Kyle Kosier, Andre Gurode, Leonard Davis, Marc Colombo, Montrae Holland, Cory Procter, Robert Brewster

The line is talented but had some issues last year and is a question but not bad in youth or talent overall in the offense.

On defense you have

NT--Ratliff
DE--Igor Olshansky, Marcus Spears, Stephen Bowen, Jason Hatcher
OLB--Ware, DeMarcus Ware, Anthony Spencer, Brandon Williams, Victor Butler
ILB--Bradie James, Keith Brooking, Bobby Carpenter, Jason Williams, Stephen Hodge
CB--Terence Newman, Orlando Scandrick, Mike Jenkins, Alan Ball, Mike Mickens
Safety--Ken Hamlin, Gerald Sensabaugh, Michael Hamlin, DeAngelo Smith

So from the above roster you have a pretty young team with guys drafted the last 4-5 years and FA pickups(if some of the rookies above make the team). They aren't lacking in talent with the mix of vets and younger guys either. To me that isn't and old team on the decline. The key will be the O-line and coaching...what they can do on offense with what they have. They'll probably run more this year. Also, Romo..he has started 3 years now..2 and 3/4 so we will see if he has what it takes. Sorry for the lengthy post but I wanted to correct the misconception about who is on their team and where Jerry fits in. I think they need a real GM and I am not a Wade fan but I'll take the 3 SBs and hope the team improves and Jerry learns along the way too. But he has top scouts that have helped the last few years and if he could stop his occassional brain farts and meddling, they can make some runs....we will see.

HoustonFog,

Would you like to wager that the Texans have a better W/L record than the Cowboys over the next 3-5 years?

I expect the Cowboys to have a losing record this season. I think it's likely that their OLine totally falls apart this season. Certainly, as the distance from Parcells increases, the talent level and particularly the discipline and development of the players will continue to wane.

Again, all of the players Cowboy fans are counting on were drafted and developed by Parcells (with very few exceptions):

Romo
Ware
Newman
Bradie James
M. Barber
Ratliff
Witten
Spears

Show me a list of highly productive players brought in post Parcells.

I"m not hero-worshipping Parcells. I don't think he is a great coach anymore. However, he had the stature and commanded enough respect that he was able to get things done beyond what Jerry wanted to do. As long as Jerry has dopey yes men at head coach (Phillips, Campo, Gailey, Switzer), the organization will be a mess.

I'm always up for a friendly wager. :) Although, I've never said the Texans weren't talented or improving...they just haven't shown anything yet. I'm not predicting a SB either. I never said that. The Boys could suck this year under Wade. I've ackowledged that and am a realistic fan. I juist think there are just as many question marks on both teams and it usually depends on who shows up in 2 tough divisions. But your above statements just contradicted what I showed you about the drafts. Parcells completely bombed in the one draft while Jerry actually nailed the 2007 draft so far. So your comment bolded above, really doesn't have a basis right now. I'm sure you know this but Jerry isn't really just picking who he wants on draft day. He actually has some of the top scouts out there and relies on them. Many of these guys helped when Parcells was there. We will see who pans out. A majority of their secondary this year will be Jerrys picks. 2 of their 3 RBs will be Jerrys picks. So to throw out Ware and them and say all of this team is Parcells and there is a decline is just plain wrong. Some of these guys have played well. I've done nothing but rag on Jones on these boards but I also am not going to ignore what he has done also. If someone told me in the 20 years a guy owns a team that we would have ups and downs but 3 more trophies, I'd take it...though speaking about them 14 years later is not something I do and is lame. I'll take another SB and 3-4 pretty good years instead of soso and steady anyday. Jerry has issues but he does like to win and his son is smart. So I just don't ever see them dropping off the radar for more than a year or so at a time. If Wade doesn't work, which in my book is a given, then he will upgrade again. He knows the pressure. At least Switzer did enough to win one SB with the talent..lol

"Jerry nailed the 2007 draft"? really?:

Anthony Spencer
James Marten
Doug Free
Deon Anderson
Alan Ball
Isiah Stanback
Nick Folk
Courtney Brown

Umm, a few more drafts like that and you'll be even worse than I thought. I guess you are counting Anthony Spencer and Stanback as great picks? Spencer has been okay and Stanback is all hype to this point... Other than the kicker and a nice FB, that is a pretty lousy draft.

By the way, I understand that scouts do most of the work. However, it is the decision maker that makes the calls. And yes, Jerry does make some crazy decisions all the time. For instance, it was Jerry who reached for Quincy Carter in the 2nd round. It was Jerry who traded a 1st, 3rd, and 6th to Detroit for Roy Williams. It was Jerry who signed T.O., Pacman, Tank Williams. The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game since 1996. The reason for that is that Jerry Jones is a horrible GM. I know he wants to win but he doesn't want to win with someone else getting the credit. That's why he and Jimmy separated and that's why he and Parcells did as well. I have serious doubts that he discovers humility as he approaches 70 years old.

By the way, Dan Snyder and Al Davis also want to win and I give them about the same chance as Jerry. All that being said, as a Cowboy fan, your best hope is that next season is uncapped and Jerry is able to go buy a ton of talent, hire a good head coach and steal a championship in 2010 or 2011... It's unlikely though.

Come on, I said 2008 in the first post..the longer one..where the drafts are explained.. and just mistyped 2007 in the second one. Most of their backfield on offense and defense is from that draft

Felix Jones--Stud when healthy
Mike Jenkins--played as a rookie and will either start or be their 3rd corner
Martellus Bennett--backup to Witten and still produced last yuear with 3 TDs..talented
Tashard Choice--one of the top rookie RB and top back in the last part of the season..92 carries for 472 the last few games for a 5.1 average
Orlando Scandrick--Maybe their best pick. A guy who started as a rookie when Anthony Henry went down and is slated to start this year..5th round

You obviously aren't as close to the team as many of us that are actual fans. He didn't run off Parcells. Parcells was done coaching and couldn't get through to players anymore. Jimmy has even admitted that he was as much the problem as Jerry..they hate each other so much that they still consult with one another and Jimmy was at the new stadium opening with Jerry. Jimmy needled and Jerry faught back...they both caused issues. People just don't read and assume too much. Jerry wanted credit. Jimmy wanted to fish and drink beer somewhere else. You are really reaching with the Davis and Snyder comments. Snyder hasn't won one thing..nothing..and overpays everyone. Jerry actually does well with the cap and is one of the better owners with it. Al Davis just makes dumb moves and they haven't been relevant for much longer than the Cowboys.

Overall you are reaching. Again, and I'm not sure why I have to repeat this..I think it is just because the anti-Boys fans don't think there are realistic fans that will rip Jerry..he has made mistakes and likes control and I don't like him as GM...but he has made some great moves too and he gets credit for what he has done and for being a great owner when it comes to money and what he has done for the league overall. Again, I'll take SBs over nothing in the last 20 years which is more than 99% of the franchises in that same time span. Your argument itself shows how relevant they are because in your book they are bad for not winning in the playoffs for 13 years yet they still have posted winning seasons. I guess we have higher standards. Overall Jerry does need to wake up with some of his moves like PacMan but overall he lost nothing for it. I don't like Wade and I don't like patsies but if it doesn't work he will make a splash again. I don't like the way the last few years have gone but I like the talent and Jerry's drafts are much better than they were pre-Parcells. This year is big for coach and QB.

ahhh Frog............

We can have dreams, can't we? These guys don't get it.

This is all I dream of for football season.

The Oilers had their chance and dropped it in Buffalo.

Even the most diehard of Cowboy haters would love this matchup.

Remember how it felt to beat the Cowboys that first game? Multiply by millions!

As a die hard Texans' fan that has never missed a home game and a born and raised Texan, I would love an all Texas Super Bowl.

Of course the Texans should win. :smiliedance: And where better than to do it than in THEIR house. C'mon. That would be epic.

Really, what could you want more footballwise? The Texans winning the Super Bowl - check. Against whom, ummm, who would be best, oh yeah - the Cowboys. You can't beat Pittsburgh, the Bills, KC, Indy in the Super Bowl. Who in the NFC would you rather beat for the whole thing?

The biggest key to the Cowboys next year will be their O line if you ask me. When their O line blocked well for them last season Romo had all day to throw the ball and their offense was as ELITE as any offense in the league. I imagine that they'll be a more ball controlled offense next season with that great trio of RB's. They have a better WR core than what many people think. People forget that Witten is good for a minimum of 900 yards.

Their defense should still be pretty good. Maybe not great, but pretty good if Wade is running the show.

Their O line will be the key. They'll need to pass block well for Romo to make plays through the air.

That was my thinking. Dallas would be the best team that I would enjoy the Texans beating more than anyone by far. But boy, they surely would be the team I'd hate losing to more than anything as well. An all Texas SB would be amazing though.

Agree..Oline and if Romo takes the next step.

Agree..Oline and if Romo takes the next step.

The Cowboys o-line has a huge challenge ahead of them next season. Osi Umenyiora is back healthy for the Giants. They added Rocky Bernard and Chris Canty to their d-line to go along with Tuck and company. The Eagles have Trent Cole, Juqua Parker, Bunkley, Patterson, Howard, and the up-and-coming Victor Abiamiri. The Skins added Fat Al and Orakpo. That's a pretty hefty task to go against these d-lines six times next season. The main problem they will have this season is at LT. Flozell is showing signs of getting a little long in the tooth. Plus, with no TO those RBs will be facing a lot of 8 man fronts next season. Gonna be a tough season for the Cowboys.
