I was just wondering why everyone is so high on him, living in CT I only get to see a one or two games at most a year and when I do, I mainly follow the ball and not specific players. I mean what does he have that will make him into an impact player?
 
Peek is our version of the nba's sixth man...he is and has been our spark plug on defense when he comes into the game. He has an unbelievable motor, drive, and passion that he has no problem showing while on the field. Very talented, but for some reason (perhaps in capers dog house) he has only seen the field occasionally or late in games when starters are wearing down. Overall he has a tremendous ability to disrupt the opposing offense....would you other texan fans agree with my assessment??
 
peek is a good player, but he lacks some play recognition, and has trouble in pass coverage, so he usually has only been used as a situational pass rusher
 
anyone that has seen him play knows what he can bring to our offense. i remember his rookie year he was always down there on punt coverage and would normally make the tackle.
 
yeah peek is just one of those guys that brings excitement. after watching our defense give up so many 3rd downs last year, peek gave us all hope that we'd stop them on 3rd down. sometimes we did, many more times we didn't. but it seemed, maybe i'm wrong, that with peek in on 3rd down the opposing qb would have only 10 seconds to throw instead of 30 seconds to throw the ball. :crying: :brickwall

It has been made clear that pass coverage is and was not his problem. The coaches said he was the best LB in coverage last year. The problem was missing plays such as a screen or over committing on runs. That seemed to clear up by last season.
 
He has been one of my more favorite players for a while. You know how it is. If the starter isn't getting it done than the back up has to be better right? Any way on a side note. Peek was in Houston on draft day and on his own decided to show up and check things out. Towards the end of the day Me and a bunch of others spoted him by the 610 booth. He stood around signing autographes and even taking pictures with people. I for one thought that was pretty cool of him and I am glad that I had that opportunatey.
 
You know who Demarcus Ware is ? Yea, the 11th overall in this years Draft
that Dallas picked. Well in terms of athletic ability and explosive moves, Peek
compares very favorably to Ware, except we got him in the 3rd round of the Draft a couple years ago - so he may or may not turn out to be a real steal. That's the kind of potential he has. But he has
a little bit of a stability problem causes he loses his cool sometimes. But
were hoping this is the year (he will probably start), that he puts it all togther, keeps his cool, and lives up to his upside.
 
I remeber siting in home games and seeing peek come out whether it was 3rd and long or 3rd and short and i knew our defense had a strong chance of 1, either comin up with the ball or 2 the QB being sacked. im not saying it happened every play but every play i saw peek in he was puttin pressure on the QB or driving the O-line crazy. hes very athletic, very fast reminfs me almost of a julius peppers or dwight freeney IMO. anyone agree somewhat?

He reminds me of LT. He always is beating his man and it doesnt matter if he is double teamed he just blows threw the defender. He has the potential to be GREAT.

Technically, but not really. Recognition is what makes defending a screen possible- that, and shedding blocks. Coverage abilities like changing direction, releasing your hips, and ball skills are some of the things important in covering receivers. And, that's the book on Peek: he is athletically very gifted but has lacked recognition at times.

true but i have already stated he lacked recognition, recognition goes hand in hand with pass coverage... you have to recognize any play a run or pass. the next step is to shed blocks.. but in a 3-4 with peeks quickness, he may only need to shed one block, then it comes down to covering the back

Considering the fact my brother lives in Baltimore now and he's a huge Raven's fan I go over to that board every now and then and that's the same thing they were saying about Terrell Suggs his rookie year. But you see what Suggs is doing wit The Ravens this could be what we needed..
 
I think if we are having a youth movement I'd have to go with him as our starter. I'm all for Peek and I haven't seen him but his reviews have improved every year so I'm for seeing what the young boy can do as a full-time starter.

I think Peek is your age. He is either 24 or 25 if I am not mistaken.
 
If Peek were in this year's draft, when the Tweeners really came into vogue he could have easily been a late first or second round pick.
